<P>Five new tirucallane saponins, paramignyosides A-E (1-5), were isolated from the water fraction of the Paramignya scandens stem and leaves. Their structures were elucidated on the basis of spectroscopic evidence including high-resolution electrospray ionization mass spectrometry (HR-ESI-MS) and one dimensional (1D)- and 2D-NMR. The effects of isolated compounds on pro-inflammatory cytokines were evaluated by measuring the production of interleukin (IL)-12 p40, IL-6, and tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α) in lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-stimulated bone marrow-derived dendritic cells (BMDCs). Paramignyoside C (3) exhibited selective and potent inhibitory effect (IC50=5.030.19??M) on the production of IL-12 p40 comparable to that of the positive control, SB203580 (IC50=5.000.16??M). Further studies are required to confirm efficacy in vivo and the mechanism of anti-inflammatory effects.</P>
Anti-inflammatory Asterosaponins from the Starfish <i>Astropecten monacanthus</i>

<P>Four new asterosaponins, astrosteriosides A–D (<B>1</B>–<B>3</B> and <B>5</B>), and two known compounds, psilasteroside (<B>4</B>) and marthasteroside B (<B>6</B>), were isolated from the MeOH extract of the edible Vietnamese starfish <I>Astropecten monacanthus</I>. Their structures were elucidated by chemical and spectroscopic methods including FTICRMS and 1D and 2D NMR experiments. The effects of the extracts and isolated compounds on pro-inflammatory cytokines were evaluated by measuring the production of IL-12 p40, IL-6, and TNF-α in LPS-stimulated bone marrow-derived dendritic cells. Compounds <B>1</B>, <B>5</B>, and <B>6</B> exhibited potent anti-inflammatory activity comparable to that of the positive control. Further studies are required to confirm efficacy <I>in vivo</I> and the mechanism of effects. The study aims to evaluate the impact of corporate social responsibility on customers’ repurchase intention in Vietnam’s fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) industry. This study employs primary data surveyed from 417 Vietnamese consumers, and the sample is selected based on the willingness to participate in providing information. The results show corporate social responsibility’s positive impact on repurchase intention in the FMCG industry in the Vietnam market. There are three components of corporate social responsibility, including ethical responsibility, legal responsibility, and economic responsibility have a positive impact on repurchase intention. The economic responsibility component has the greatest effect on repurchase intention. There is not enough statistical basis for the philanthropic responsibility component of corporate social responsibility to recognize its impact on repurchase intention. The findings of this study suggest that companies dealing in the FMCG industry in Vietnam need to invest more in further developing their corporate social responsibility, it not only helps to improve their customer loyalty to businesses but also contributes to promoting the country’s economic and social development in a better and more sustainable direction.
Anti-inflammatory components of the Vietnamese starfish <i>Protoreaster nodosus</i>

<P><B>Background</B></P><P>In the present study, we examined the inhibitory effects of a methanolic extract, dichloromethane fraction, water layer, and polyhydroxylated sterols <B>(1–4)</B> isolated from the Vietnamese starfish <I>Protoreaster nodosus</I> on pro-inflammatory cytokine (IL-12 p40, IL-6, and TNF-α) production in LPS-stimulated bone marrow-derived dendritic cells (BMDCs) using enzyme-linked immunosorbent assays (ELISA).</P><P><B>Results</B></P><P>The methanolic extract and dichloromethane fraction exerted potent inhibitory effects on the production of all three pro-inflammatory cytokines, with IC<SUB>50</SUB> values ranging from 0.60 ± 0.01 to 26.19 ± 0.64 μg/mL. Four highly pure steroid derivatives <B>(1–4)</B> were isolated from the dichloromethane fraction and water layer of <I>P. nodosus</I>. Potent inhibitory activities were also observed for (25<I>S</I>) 5α-cholestane-3β,4β,6α,7α,8β,15α,16β,26-octol <B>(3)</B> on the production of IL-12 p40 and IL-6 (IC<SUB>50s</SUB> = 3.11 ± 0.08 and 1.35 ± 0.03 μM), and for (25<I>S</I>) 5α-cholestane-3β,6α,8β,15α,16β,26-hexol <B>(1)</B> and (25<I>S</I>) 5α-cholestane-3β,6α,7α,8β,15α,16β,26-heptol <B>(2)</B> on the production of IL-12 p40 (IC<SUB>50s</SUB> = 0.01 ± 0.00 and 1.02 ± 0.01 μM). Moreover, nodososide <B>(4)</B> exhibited moderate inhibitory effects on IL-12 p40 and IL-6 production.</P><P><B>Conclusion</B></P><P>This is the first report of the anti-inflammatory activity from the starfish <I>P. nodosus</I>. The main finding of this study is the identification oxygenated steroid derivatives from <I>P. nodosus</I> with potent anti-inflammatory activities that may be developed as therapeutic agents for inflammatory diseases.</P>

<P>One new monoterpenoid glycoside, myresculoside (<B>1</B>), and eleven known compounds, were isolated from methanol extract of <I>Myrica esculenta</I> leaves by repeated column chromatography. The effects of these compounds on angiotensin I-converting enzyme (ACE) inhibition were investigated. Compounds <B>3</B> and <B>4</B> showed the most potent ACE inhibition with rates of 29.97% and 25.63% at concentration of 100 μ<SMALL>M</SMALL>, respectively. Compounds <B>5</B>, <B>6</B>, and <B>11</B> showed weak activity with inhibitory rates of 0.07—1.41% at concentration of 100 μ<SMALL>M</SMALL>.</P>
Barometric Altitude Measurement Fault Diagnosis for the Improvement of Quadcopter Altitude Control

Due to the influence of airflows surrounding an aerial vehicle, an onboard barometer sensor can provide a significantly inaccurate measurement that results in a considerable altitude flight performance degradation. In this paper, we present a barometric altitude measurement faults diagnosis methodology and use it to improve the altitude control performance of a quadcopter. A feed-forward neural networks structure is proposed to identify the barometric altitude measurement fault model based on the regression neural networks approach. We use real barometer measurement data for the neural networks training and validation process. An altitude compensation algorithm based on the neural network output is implemented in the vehicle’s altitude controller. Actual flights were conducted using a quadcopter platform and the experimental results demonstrate the effectiveness of our proposed method.

Quadcopter unmanned aerial vehicles continue to play important roles in several applications and the improvement of their control performance has been explored by a great number of studies. In this paper, we present a robust optimal H∞ attitude control algorithm for a quadcopter tracking either a step or a moving attitude reference. We model the system model uncertainties by using the linear fractional transformation approach and take it into account in combination with external disturbances during designing the controller. To demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed method, numerical simulations were conducted and our controller performance is compared to a conventional PID controller.

Purpose It is uncertain whether the tumor burden as assessed using FDG-PET has prognostic significance in newly diagnosed diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL). The authors undertook this study to determine whether a parameter that reflects both FDG uptake magnitude and the greatest tumor diameter is a prognostic indicator in DLBCL. Materials and Methods Forty-two DLBCL patients (age, $57.4{\pm}15.5$ years; male/female=25/17; stage I/II/III/IV=5/17/10/10) who underwent FDG-PET before chemotherapy were enrolled. A lesion with the highest maximum standardized uptake value (MaxSUV) on the PET image was selected, and size-incorporated MaxSUV (SIMaxSUV) of mass was calculated as MaxSUV ${\times}$ greatest diameter (mm) on the transaxial PET image. Median follow-up duration was 20.0 months. Results Twelve (28.6%=12/42) patients experienced disease progression, and 10 (23.8%=10/42) died during follow-up. Among six variables [Ann Arbor stage, %Ki-67 expression, International Prognostic Index (IPI), MaxSUV, greatest diameter, and SIMaxSUV] investigated, only SIMaxSUV was found to be a single determinant of progression-free and overall survivals by multivariate analyses (p<0.05). Conclusion These results suggest that SIMaxSUV, a new FDG-PET parameter that incorporates FDG uptake magnitude and the greatest tumor diameter, may be a useful indicator of prognosis in untreated DLBCL.
