        A highly efficient multi-stage dielectric barrier discharge (DBD)-catalytic system for simultaneous toluene degradation and O3 elimination

        DBD-catalytic system has been widely studied for volatile organic compounds abatement, whereas howto obtain high mineralization rate and low zone emission synchronously remains a challenge. In view ofthis, a new type of multi-stage DBD-catalytic system (MS1) was established to abatement toluene in thisstudy. The mineralization rates of reactors IPC (63.81%) and MS1 (61.14%) were much higher than MS2,PPC1 and PPC2 reactors, which were 48.36%, 46.84%, and 5.8% at 33.8 (Vp-p) kV, respectively. For exportozone concentration, IPC reactor had the highest concentration of 160 ppm, and the values of reactorsMS1, MS2, PPC1, and PPC2 were 79, 34.2, 34.25 and 29 ppm, respectively. The catalyst filled in zone IIcan be utilized to further decompose the residual toluene and intermediates and also promote thedecomposition of ozone, which lead to the superior performance of the MS1 reactor. The influence ofapplied voltage, adsorbed amount, and discharge time on the toluene removal performance was investigatedto optimize the operation parameters of MS1 reactor, their appropriate values were 28.3–31.1 (Vpp)kV, 0.179–0.223 mmol, 1 h, respectively. Lastly, the contribution of disparate zones in multi-stageDBD-catalytic system to the toluene degradation were elucidated on the basis of the GC–MS results.

        중국소비자의 지속가능 패션 소비 결정요인 연구 - 계획된 행동이론을 중심으로 -

        In the context of Sustainable development, China, the world's second-largest apparel market, is also concerned about the environmental impact of fiber waste. Currently, there is a great interest in sustainable fashion in both supply and demand in China. Based on the theory of planned behavior(TPB), the determinants of sustainable fashion consumption( SFC) of Chinese consumers were evaluated in this study: man-nature orientation(MNO) and environmental knowledge(EK) as motivation and perceived online-store accessibility(POA) and perceived money availability(PMA) as barriers. Wenjuanxing, a Chinese professional survey collection agency, conducted an online survey of millennials in Shanghai, China. The final sample size for the survey was 215. Partial least squares structural equation modeling was employed to test the proposed hypotheses. The results indicated that attitudes, subjective norms, and perceived behavioral control significantly affected the purchase intention towards sustainable fashion products. MNO and EK influenced the attitude, whereas EK, POA, and PMA influenced perceived behavioral control. This study contributes to the TPB literature through the examination of four antecedents: MNO, EK, POA, and PMA. The findings provide valuable insights for retailers and markets based on the identification of the motivations and barriers that enhance the purchasing intention of Chinese millennials toward SFC.

        Iron diffusion-doped magnesium-aluminum layered double oxides as a multifunctional adsorbent for removal of F-, Sb(III) and methyl orange contaminants from water

        Due to the complexity of the contaminations in wastewater, a universal adsorbent that takes many sorts of pollutant is desired. A multi-functioning magnetic Fe3O4-cored magnesium-aluminum layered double oxide (Fe3O4@LDO) composite was prepared and employed as an adsorbent for removing F-, Sb(III) and MO from water, respectively, which are three typical contaminants with different molecule sizes as water contamination. The effect of pH contact time and initial concentrations of pollutants on the removal rates of each contaminant were investigated. Fe3O4@LDO composite showed excellent adsorption performance for all of the three molecules F-, Sb(III) and MO, and their maximum adsorption capacities are as high as 258, 391, and 506mg/g, respectively. The adsorption process of F-, Sb(III) and MO on Fe3O4@LDO fitted well to Langmuir model and pseudo-second-order kinetic model. The adsorption mechanisms of F-, Sb(III) and MO on Fe3O4@LDO were investigated. We discovered that iron ions diffused from Fe3O4 nanospheres contributed to the good performance of the absorbent.

        Finite-time Sliding Mode Fault-tolerant Control for Networked Control Systems With Intermittent Fault Under Event-triggered Scheme

        This paper is focused on the finite-time sliding mode fault-tolerant control problem for a class of discrete networked control systems with intermittent fault and time-varying delay under the event-triggered scheme. The intermittent fault is described as a randomly occurring fault obeying a Bernoulli distribution. The event-triggered mechanism is introduced to determine the transmission of signal, which can conserve communication resources and reduce network burdens. By means of the sliding mode observer method, a linear sliding mode function is constructed by employing the estimated state and fault information. Based on Lyapunov stability theory, sufficient criteria are derived, which can ensure the closed-loop system is finite-time bounded with pre-specified H∞ performance requirement satisfied. Then, the event-triggered observer-based sliding mode fault-tolerant controller is established to force the system state trajectories onto a pre-set sliding mode region. Afterward, the solvability of the non-convex problem is studied by testifying the feasibility of a minimization problem. Finally, a practice simulation result is provided to illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed theoretical results.

        From the perspective of the community of human destiny, this paper probes into the role of religion in China's international communication. First of all, the article expounds the basic concept of the community of human destiny and the significance of the community of human destiny in the context of globalization. Then, it analyzes how religion, as a special form of cultural communication, plays a unique role in China's communication with other countries in the world. This paper discusses in detail the positive role of religion in promoting cultural understanding between China and foreign countries, enhancing international friendship, promoting economic cooperation and peacefully resolving international disputes, and also points out the misunderstandings and conflicts that may be caused by religion in the process of communication. The article emphasizes that in the face of the challenges and opportunities brought by globalization, China should actively exert the positive effects of religion in foreign exchanges and promote the construction of a more harmonious community of world destiny.

        Preceding treatment of non-thermal plasma (NTP) assisted the bactericidal effect of ultrasound on <i>Staphylococcus aureus</i>

        <P>Ultrasound is a promising non-thermal inactivation technique. However, ultrasound treatment alone is not very effective. In this study, combined applications of ultrasound and non-thermal plasma (NTP) were assessed for their inactivation efficacy and the physiological change on Staphylococcus aureus cells. The lethal and sublethal injury induced by individual ultrasound, NTP, ultrasound-NTP (UP) and NTP-ultrasound treatments was determined by plate count method. Then, we applied fluorescent technology to demonstrate the physiological variations of S. aureus during various treatments. NTP exposure followed by ultrasound treatment exhibited the highest inactivation rate of S. aureus, Prior NTP helped to provide enough reactive oxygen species (ROS) dissolved in the medium, and the subsequent ultrasound assisted in the injection of ROS into S. aureus cells. This accelerated the reaction between ROS and intracellular biomolecules, which led to the rapid death of the microbes. On the contrary, S. aureus cells treated with ultrasound first were more likely to develop and enhance oxidative response, allowing S. aureus to resist toward the following NTP stressor. Therefore, the findings of this study may be used to the optimization of hurdle technologies of ultrasound and NTP in practice. (C) 2018 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.</P>

      • Effect of preliminary stresses on the resistance of <i>Escherichia coli</i> and <i>Staphylococcus aureus</i> toward non-thermal plasma (NTP) challenge

        <P>As the development of hurdle technology, cross-protection of various stresses for pathogens posed the potential risk to food safety and public health. This study tried to explore various preliminary stresses including acidity, osmosis, oxidation, heat and cold on the resistance of microbial cells toward the non-thermal plasma (NTP) exposure. The results indicated that short-term (4 h) exposure of Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli to acidity, osmosis, oxidation, heat and cold stresses did not lead to the resistance to the subsequent NTP treatment. On the contrary, acidity, osmosis and heat preadaptation increased the vulnerability of E. coil cells to NTP treatment. After exposing S. aureus to osmosis, oxidation, heat and cold stress for longer period (24 h), the reduction level showed significantly (P < 0.05) higher. Interestingly, long-term (24 h) preliminary exposure of acidic stress exhibited protective effect for S. aureus against the following NTP exposure with less damage in cell membrane integrity, membrane potential and intracellular enzyme activity. It might be due to the protein production for oxidative stress response during preliminary acidic adaptation. In general, the obtained result helped to grasp better understanding of the microbial stress response to NTP treatment and provided insight for the future research in order to accelerate the development of NTP technology in food industry.</P>

      • Moving Target Detection and Tracking in Complex Background

        The influence of environment changing, e.g. background beam change, trees waggle, and rain or snow day brings More difficult for moving target detecting. A background dynamic generation algorithm is presented in the paper, and the background dynamic generation algorithm is used to dynamically construct background image, the impact of the environment change is reduced in a certain extent for the moving target detection. Secondly, the background difference method is used to detect the moving target, when the moving target exists, the direction and the coordinate of the moving target is determined according to the result of continuous 2 frame images subtract the background. Finally, an algorithm for calculating the rotation angle of the pan/tilt/zoom is presented, the horizontal rotation angle and the vertical rotation angle of the pan/tilt/zoom is calculated according to the pan/tilt/zoom rotation angle algorithm, and the moving target detection and automatic tracking function is realized.

        Modified WFRFT-based Transform Domain Communication System Incorporating with Spectrum Mismatching

        The transform domain communication system (Hereinafter referred to as TDCS) takes on numerous advantages, inclusive of anti-jamming and low probability of detection. Yet its application is confined by the consistent spectrum in the transmitter and receiver, which is not possible in the case of a huge distance exsits between them. In this paper, a TDCS based modified weighted fractional fourier transform (WFRFT) is proposed to solve the problem resulting from spectrum mismatching for TDCS application. The amplitude and phase information are incorporated with the TDCS signals and transmit to the receiver together in the wake of a modified WFRFT. The basic function and the TDCS signals shall be accessible to the receivers in the wake of an inverse WFRFT transform, which make sure that the original information can be demodulated properly. The system’s reliability while transmitting signals with different modulation methods and with spectrum mismatching is demonstrated by bit error rate (BER). In the meantime, the constellations of the signals and the BER performances at the eavesdropper demonstrate the proposed system is better secured.
