      • Research on Algorithm for Automatic License Plate Recognition System

        License plate recognition belongs to the field of computer vision and pattern recognition, and plays an important role in the field of intelligent transportation. The license plate location is a key technology in license plate recognition, the accurate positioning of a license or not directly affects the accuracy of character segmentation and character recognition, and has a direct impact on the efficiency of the license plate recognition system. In this paper, based on knowledge acquisition and knowledge reduction ability of rough set, as well as learning ability and generalization ability of neural network, a plate positioning system is constructed. On this basis, combined the rough set with neural networks and fuzzy logic, a rough fuzzy neural network recognition is proposed. The experimental results show that this system not only simplifies the structure of the system, but also improves the generalization capability of knowledge, and improves the accuracy of character positioning.

      • Research of Chinese Handwritten Text Segmentation Algorithm

        OCR is a complicated process, there are many factors that can influence the recognition rate. Early period people tried to optimize the classifier to obtain high recognition rate, but the premise is that there is only one character no matter print or handwritten. For the performance of classifier has been promoted a lot, recognition rate for single character is high enough for commercial use. With the development of the demand for handwritten text recognition, how to raise the recognition rate of OCR system becomes very important. Unlike OCR system for print which focus on classifier. The research of OCR system for handwritten text is mainly on character segmentation. Statistical analysis showed that the mistake made by missegment is more than the mistake made by classifier. This is decided by the feature of handwritten text. There are more randomness and the lines are not horizontal, besides that, handwritten Chinese characters are more like overlapped and the gaps between characters are smaller. So this is the difficulty of handwritten Chinese characters. In this paper, the mutil-step searching nonlinear line exaction algorithm the paper proposed is easy and the accuracy is high, which can tackle the some weaknesses of direct projection method and indirect projection.

        Protocatechuic Aldehyde Represses Proliferation and Migration of Breast Cancer Cells through Targeting C-terminal Binding Protein 1

        Purpose: C-terminal binding protein 1 (CtBP1) is a transcriptional co-repressor that is overexpressed in many cancers. CtBP1 transcriptionally represses a broad array of tumor suppressors, which promotes cancer cell proliferation, migration, invasion, and resistance to apoptosis. Recent studies have demonstrated that CtBP1 is a potential target for cancer therapy. This study was designed to screen for compounds that potentially target CtBP1. Methods: Using a structure-based virtual screening for CtBP1 inhibitors, we found protocatechuic aldehyde (PA), a natural compound found in the root of a traditional Chinese herb, Salvia miltiorrhiza, that directly binds to CtBP1. Microscale thermophoresis assay was performed to determine whether PA and CtBP1 directly bind to each other. Further, clustered regularly interspaced short palindromic repeats associated Cas9 nuclease-mediated CtBP1 knockout in breast cancer cells was used to validate the CtBP1 targeting specificity of PA. Results: Functional studies showed that PA repressed the proliferation and migration of breast cancer cells. Furthermore, PA elevated the expression of the downstream targets of CtBP1, p21 and E-cadherin, and decreased CtBP1 binding affinity for the promoter regions of p21 and E-cadherin in breast cancer cells. However, PA did not affect the expression of p21 and E-cadherin in the CtBP1 knockout breast cancer cells. In addition, the CtBP1 knockout breast cancer cells showed resistance to PA-induced repression of proliferation and migration. Conclusion: Our findings demonstrated that PA directly bound to CtBP1 and inhibited the growth and migration of breast cancer cells through CtBP1 inhibition. Structural modifications of PA are further required to enhance its binding affinity and selectivity for CtBP1.

        Updated Bayesian Network Meta-Analysis of Adjuvant Targeted Treatment Regimens for Early Human Epidermal Growth Factor Receptor-2 Positive Breast Cancer

        Purpose: Combining targeted agents with adjuvant chemotherapy prolongs survival in human epidermal growth factor receptor 2 (HER2)-positive breast cancer patients, but also increases the risk of adverse effects. The updated results of 3 randomized controlled trials (RCTs) were reported in 2019. Given the lack of adequate head-to-head pairwise assessment for anti-HER2 agents, network meta-analysis facilitates obtaining more precise inference for evidence-based therapy. Methods: RCTs comparing at least 2 anti-HER2 regimens in an adjuvant setting for HER2- positive early-stage breast cancer (EBC) were included. Hazard ratios for overall survival (OS) and disease free survival (DFS), with respective 95% confidence intervals were pooled for assessment of efficacy. A Bayesian statistical model was used, and odds ratios (ORs) for adverse events (AEs) were used to pool effect sizes. Results: We demonstrated that 1-year trastuzumab plus chemotherapy had increased efficacy compared to shorter or longer treatment duration. The OR of cardiac events gradually increased from 6 months to 1 and 2-year trastuzumab arms, relative to chemotherapy only. Compared to trastuzumab plus chemotherapy, dual HER2-targeting therapies increased DFS, especially for hormone receptor negative patients. Dual anti-HER2 blockade regimens revealed an increased probability of gastrointestinal reactions. As a second agent, pertuzumab showed significantly higher DFS and OS. Conclusion: We conclude that 1-year adjuvant trastuzumab should remain as the standard treatment for HER2-positive EBC patients, as it has greater efficacy and a manageable proportion of AEs. Clinical efficacy can be increased for hormone receptor-negative tumors by including a second HER2-targeted agent to the treatment regimen. For hormone receptor-positive cases with basal disease, it is acceptable to reduce the risk of cardiotoxicity by shortening the duration of trastuzumab.

        Predictive and Prognostic Roles of Pathological Indicators for Patients with Breast Cancer on Neoadjuvant Chemotherapy

        Currently, neoadjuvant chemotherapy is a standard therapeutic strategy for breast cancer, as it can provide timely and individualized chemo-sensitivity information and is beneficial for custom-designing subsequent treatment strategies. To accurately select candidates for neoadjuvant chemotherapy, the association between various immunohistochemical biomarkers of primary disease and tumor response to neoadjuvant chemotherapy has been investigated, and results have shown that certain pathological indicators evaluated after neoadjuvant chemotherapy are associated with long-term prognosis. The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has recommended that complete pathological response can be used as a surrogate endpoint for neoadjuvant chemotherapy, which is related to better prognosis. Considering that residual tumor persists in the majority of patients after neoadjuvant chemotherapy, the value of various pathological indicators of residual disease in predicting the long-term outcomes is being extensively investigated. This review summarizes and compares various predictive and prognostic indicators for patients who have received neoadjuvant chemotherapy, and analyzes their efficacy in different breast cancer subtypes.

        Construction of novel Z-scheme BiOI/Bi3O4Br heterojunction with excellent photocatalytic performance by in situ precipitation process

        An innovative 3D flower-like BiOI/Bi3O4Br hierarchical heterostructures complex material was firstlyconstructed via in-situ growth of ultrathin BiOI on Bi3O4Br by a simple precipitation method. Underthe simulated solar-light illumination for 90 min, the optimal 60% BiOI/Bi3O4Br composite displayedthe highest photodegradation rate of 96.4% for RhB, 80.0% for TC and 77.2% for MO. The correspondingapparent rate constants were 0.0314, 0.0167 and 0.0110 min1, which were 8.26, 1.82 and 3.24-timesthan that of Bi3O4Br, 44.86, 11.13 and 2.62-times than that of BiOI. The improved photodegradation activitycould be owing to the following reasons: 1) The 3D hierarchical heterostructures endowed BiOI/Bi3O4Br with tight interfacial contact, which can supply sufficient migration channels for photoinducedcarriers; 2) The Z-scheme charge migrate pathway promoted the segregation of photocarriers whilemaintaining a robust redox ability; 3) The BiOI/Bi3O4Br heterostructures reinforced light absorptionedges more than 600 nm and augmented specific surface areas over 60 m2g1. In addition, the variousphotocatalytic conditions were studied to imitate the degradation process of RhB in the real aqueous system. The radical capture experiments and EPR test attested that h+ and O2played an important part inthe photodegradation of RhB.

        Frequency and magnetic properties in the range of 10 kHz to 100 MHz for nanocrystal Fe -Co alloy

        Fe-based soft magnetic alloy with Co-doping was fabricated by high-energy milling. The X-ray diraction (XRD) results exhibita single phased structure,which could be regarded as BCC-like FeCo solid solution,was formed. Moreover,it has also been demonstrated that a nanocrystalline FeCo alloy was obtained and the evaluated grain sizes were about 712 nm. The frequency dependence of the initial permeability and magnetic losses,as well as DC-magnetization measurements,was systematically studiedthen. The results show that thefn (fn is the frequency when the curve of the No.n sample has a minimum value) shifts to the higherfrequency with the increasing Co content in the range of 10 kHz to 100 MHz,while the magnetic losses of the samples decrease withthe increasing Co content at the high frequency (800 kHz to 20 MHz). The Co-doping increases the cut-o frequencies of thesamples and makes the initial permeability to keep a constant value in a wider frequency range. The corresponding peak value of theinitial permeability as function of Co-doping concentration turns to the region of low Co concentration. For the long milling time,the loss apparently decreases beyond 1 MHz.

        Experimental and Numerical Study on Response Characteristics of Airport Pavement Subjected to Wetting in Silt Subgrade

        Silt is often selected as the filling soil in Northwest and North China. “Pot cover effect” or rainfall infiltration are easily to cause localized wetting during the service period of airport. The response characteristics of pavement derived from aircraft loading under wetting condition are the basis to explore the evolution law of pavement damage. To investigate this response characteristics for different parameters of pavement under wetting condition, a self-developed model test system was developed, and the verified numerical model was then established. The interaction mechanisms of pavement slabs, and the influence of wetting on mechanical response in loading area of pavement under different pavement parameters were analyzed. The results showed that the increased vertical deformation depends on water-holding capacity of silt, and the vertical deformation under loading is little affected by pavement parameters. The peak shear stress and the increased peak shear stress derived from wetting at the bottom of pavement layers are largely influenced by elastic modulus of base course. For cement concrete pavement, the increase in load transfer capacity of joints cannot decrease the increase of peak stress, including horizontal stress and shear stress, derived from wetting. The increase in load transfer capacity of joints can decrease the stress concentration in surface layer, while the elastic modulus of surface layer has little influence. For bituminous pavement, optimal parameters of base course can be obtained to decrease the peak stress and the increase of peak stress derived from wetting in subgrade. The research can provide technical basis for the structure design, optimization, and disease treatment of pavement in airport engineering.

        Reduction of heat transfer and improvement of film cooling effect on squealer tip with multi-rib design concept

        A multi-rib design concept was proposed to reduce the heat transfer and enhance film cooling effect on squealer tip. Three different shapes of ribs (i.e. straight ribs, Vshape ribs, and L-shape ribs) were configured in the cavity of squealer tip of a turbine stage. The distributions of heat transfer coefficient (HTC) and film cooling effectiveness (FCE) on the multi-rib squealer tip were numerically predicted and compared against the conventional squealer tip. The results indicate that the configuration of multiple ribs is beneficial to weaken the development of cavity vortex system, and also traps more coolants in the squealer cavity. Compared to the conventional design, the implementation of L-shape ribs reduces the thermal loads on the cavity floor and entire tip by 82.4 % and 34.7 %, respectively, while the film cooling effects on the cavity floor and the entire tip are enhanced by 21.1 % and 72.2 %, respectively.
