      • Observer-based Admissible Control for Singular Delta Operator Systems

        Xin-zhuang Dong,Mingqing Xiao,Yushun Wang,Wenxue He 제어로봇시스템학회 2014 제어로봇시스템학회 국제학술대회 논문집 Vol.2014 No.10

This paper studies the problem of designing an observer-based admissible controller for singular delta operator systems. Sufficient conditions are provided for the existence of an asymptotical and physically realizable observer. Then an observer-based admissible controller is obtained in terms of strict linear matrix inequalities. The corresponding gain matrices appeared in our proposed approach can be constructed through the feasible solutions of a set of linear matrix inequalities. Some numerical examples are presented to demonstrate the theoretical outcomes of the paper.

      • H∞ Performance Analysis of Singular Systems via Delta Operator Method

        Xin-zhuang Dong,Mingqing Xiao 제어로봇시스템학회 2014 제어로봇시스템학회 국제학술대회 논문집 Vol.2014 No.10

This paper investigates the problem of H∞ performance analysis for singular systems through delta operator method. A novel admissibility condition is developed for singular delta operator systems. Based on the above result, two conditions are established for a singular delta operator system to be admissible with an H∞ performance. All of the conditions appeared in this paper are necessary and sufficient, characterized by a set of strict linear matrix inequalities whose feasible solutions can be obtained easily by matlab-LMI toolbox. A numerical example is also provided to illustrate the effectiveness of the theoretical results in the paper.

H∞ Control of Singular Systems via Delta Operator Method

        Xin-zhuang Dong,Mingqing Xiao 제어·로봇·시스템학회 2015 International Journal of Control, Automation, and Vol.13 No.3

This paper studies the problem of state feedback H∞ control for singular systems through delta operator approach. A necessary and sufficient condition is presented such that a singular delta operator system is admissible with a prescribed H∞ performance, which can provide a unified framework of the existing H∞ performance analysis results for both continuous case and discrete case. The existence condition and explicit expression of a desirable H∞ controller are also obtained for singular delta operator systems. The proposed design method can be used for both singular continuous systems and singular discrete systems directly. The corresponding design procedures, which simplify the classical approaches, are discussed and presented. All obtained conditions in this paper are in the form of strict linear matrix inequalities whose feasible solutions can be found by standard linear programming method. Numerical examples are provided to illustrate the effectiveness of the theoretical results obtained in this paper.

Outcomes of Microendoscopic Discectomy and Percutaneous Transforaminal Endoscopic Discectomy for the Treatment of Lumbar Disc Herniation: A Comparative Retrospective Study

        Arjun Sinkemani,Xin Hong,Zeng-Xin Gao,Su-Yang Zhuang,Zan-Li Jiang,Shao-Dong Zhang,Jun-Ping Bao,Lei Zhu,Pei Zhang,Xin-Hui Xie,Feng Wang,Xiao-Tao Wu 대한척추외과학회 2015 Asian Spine Journal Vol.9 No.6

Study Design: Retrospective, case control evaluation of 86 patients who underwent microendoscopic discectomy (MED) and percutaneous transforaminal endoscopic discectomy (PTED) for the treatment of lumbar disc herniation (LDH). Purpose: To evaluate the safety and the outcomes of MED and PTED for the treatment of LDH. Overview of Literature: MED and PTED are minimally invasive surgical techniques for lower back pain. Studies to date have shown that MED and PTED are safe and effective treatment modalities for LDH. Methods: A retrospective study was performed in patients with LDH treated with MED (n=50) and transforaminal endoscopic discectomy (PTED; n=36) in our hospital. All patients were followed-up with self-evaluation questionnaires, Oswestry disability index (ODI), medical outcomes study 36-item short form health survey and MacNab criteria. All the patients in both groups were followed up to 12 months after the operation. Results: ODI questionnaire responses were not statistically different between the MED and PTED groups (53.00 vs. 48.72) before treatment. Average scores and minimal disability after 5 days to 12 months of follow-up were 4.96 in the MED group and 3.61 in the PTED group. According to MacNab criteria, 92.0% of the MED group and 94.4% of the PTED group had excellent or good results with no significant difference. Conclusions: There was no significant difference between MED and PTED outcomes. Further large-scale, randomized studies with long-term follow-up are needed.

Stability Evaluation and Improvement of Adaptive Optics Systems by Using the Lyapunov Stability Approach

        Liang Wang,Tao Chen,Xin-yue Liu,Xu-dong Lin,Xiao-xia Yang,Hong-zhuang Li 한국물리학회 2016 THE JOURNAL OF THE KOREAN PHYSICAL SOCIETY Vol.68 No.3

In this research, investigations on the closed-loop control stability of adaptive optics systems are conducted by using the Lyapunov approach. As an direct metric of the control stability, the error propagator includes the effects of both the integral gain and the influence matrix and is effective for control-stability evaluation. An experimental 97-element AO system is developed for the control-stability investigation, and the Southwell sensor-actuator configuration rather than the Fried geometry is adopted so as to suppress the potential waffle mode. Because filtering out small singular values of the influence matrix can be used to improve the control stability, the effect of the influence matrix and the effect of the integral gain are considered as a whole by using the error propagator. Then, the control stability of the AO system is evaluated for varying the integral gains and the number of filtered-out singular values. Afterwards, an analysis of the evaluations of the error propagator is made, and a conclusion can be drawn that the control stability can be improved by filtering out more singular values of the influence matrix when the integral gain is high. In other words, the error propagator is useful for trading off the bandwidth error and the fitting error of AO systems in a control-stability approach. Finally, a performance measurement of the experimental AO system is conducted when 13 smaller singular values of the influence matrix are filtered out, and the results show that filtering out a small fraction of the singular values has a minor influence on the performance of this AO system.

A sigma class glutathione S-transferase gene regulated by the CncC pathway is required for phytochemical tolerance in the red flour beetle, Tribolium castaneum

        Gao Shan-shan,Li Dong-yu,Huo Zhuang-kun,Zhang Yong-lei,Cao Yi-zhuo,Tan Yue-yao,Guo Xin-long,Zhang Jia-hao,Zhang Kun-peng,Li Rui-min 한국응용곤충학회 2022 Journal of Asia-Pacific Entomology Vol.25 No.4

Insect glutathione S-transferases (GSTs) play a crucial role in the detoxification of exogenous compounds, especially insecticides and plant allelochemicals. A sigma class GST gene, TcGSTS7, mediates the response to eugenol in Tribolium castaneum. However, the mechanism underlying this effect remains largely unknown. In this study, TcGSTS7, which exhibits a structural motif and domain organization characteristic of GSTs, was cloned from the T. castaneum genome. Spatiotemporal expression analysis revealed that TcGSTS7 was most highly expressed at the late larva stage and was mainly expressed in the fat body and epidermis of larvae and adults, suggesting that TcGSTS7 may play a potential role in the protection against toxic xenobiotics in T. castaneum. Furthermore, the expression of TcGSTS7 was significantly induced after exposure to eugenol, while RNA inter ference (RNAi) targeting TcGSTS7 enhanced the sensitivity of the beetle to eugenol, indicating that TcGSTS7 is involved in the tolerance of T. castaneum to this insecticide. Interestingly, the depletion of TcCncC, which encodes a transcription factor of the CncC pathway that has been associated with the regulation of detoxification-related genes in insects, led to a reduction in the TcGSTS7 transcript level following exposure to eugenol, which suggests that TcGSTS7 acts downstream of the CncC pathway. Combined, these results indicated that TcGSTS7 partici pates in the tolerance of T. castaneum to phytochemicals in a CncC pathway-dependent manner. These findings have implications for the development of novel drugs for use in pest control.

      • Anti-proliferation Effects of Interferon-gamma on Gastric Cancer Cells

        Zhao, Ying-Hui,Wang, Tao,Yu, Guang-Fu,Zhuang, Dong-Ming,Zhang, Zhong,Zhang, Hong-Xin,Zhao, Da-Peng,Yu, Ai-Lian Asian Pacific Journal of Cancer Prevention 2013 Asian Pacific journal of cancer prevention Vol.14 No.9

IFN-${\gamma}$ plays an indirect anti-cancer role through the immune system but may have direct negative effects on cancer cells. It regulates the viability of gastric cancer cells, so we examined whether it affects their proliferation and how that might be brought about. We exposed AGS, HGC-27 and GES-1 gastric cancer cell lines to IFN-${\gamma}$ and found significantly reduced colony formation ability. Flow cytometry revealed no effect of IFN-${\gamma}$ on apoptosis of cell lines and no effect on cell aging as assessed by ${\beta}$-gal staining. Microarray assay revealed that IFN-${\gamma}$ changed the mRNA expression of genes related to the cell cycle and cell proliferation and migration, as well as chemokines and chemokine receptors, and immunity-related genes. Finally, flow cytometry revealed that IFN-${\gamma}$ arrested the cells in the G1/S phase. IFN-${\gamma}$ may slow proliferation of some gastric cancer cells by affecting the cell cycle to play a negative role in the development of gastric cancer.
