        UV-crosslinked Solution Blown PVDF Nanofiber Mats for Protective Applications

        Nanofiber mats have received considerable attention from researchers in the field of particulate protection. In thisstudy, polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF) nanofiber mats were prepared on a large scale by a solution blowing process, and thencrosslinked by ultraviolet (UV)-radiation using trimethylolpropane tri-acrylate (TMPTA) as a crosslinker. The structure,morphology, mechanical and thermal properties, and protective performance of the nanofiber mats were evaluated. Resultsshow that the addition of TMPTA and UV treatment decreased the diameter of the nanofibers and enhanced the mechanicalproperties, air permeability, and moisture permeability. Nanofiber mats show higher filtration and lower filtration resistancecompared with a commercial product. Furthermore, the nanofiber mats were bonded with Nylon 6 fabric, which showedgood performance as a novel functional layer in protective clothing.

        Optimizing Oily Wastewater Treatment Via Wet Peroxide Oxidation Using Response Surface Methodology

        The process of petroleum involves in a large amount of oily wastewater that contains high levels of chemical oxygen demand (COD) and toxic compounds. So they must be treated before their discharge into the receptor medium. In this paper, wet peroxide oxidation (WPO) was adopted to treat the oily wastewater. Central composite design, an experimental design for response surface methodology (RSM), was used to create a set of 31 experimental runs needed for optimizing of the operating conditions. Quadratic regression models with estimated coefficients were developed to describe the COD removals. The experimental results show that WPO could effectively reduce COD by 96.8% at the optimum conditions of temperature $290^{\circ}C$, $H_2O_2$ excess (HE) 0.8, the initial concentration of oily wastewater 3855 mg/L and reaction time 9 min. RSM could be effectively adopted to optimize the operating multifactors in complex WPO process.

        Integrin α5β1-Ang1/Tie2 receptor cross-talk regulates brain endothelial cell responses following cerebral ischemia

        We have previously demonstrated that in response to cerebral ischemia (CI), the growth factor angiopoietin-1 (Ang1) and α5β1 integrin are both induced in cerebral vessels, which likely provide positive signals driving the endogenous angiogenic response and vascular protection after CI. However, the precise relationship between endothelial Ang1 and α5β1 integrin after CI remains poorly understood. Here, we investigated the effects of the interaction between the Ang1/Tie2 system and α5β1 integrin on brain endothelial cells (BECs) under cerebral ischemic conditions in vivo and in vitro. Immunofluorescence analysis demonstrated that integrin α5β1 co-localized with Tie2/phosphorylated Tie2 on cerebral vessels in the penumbra. The in vitro study showed that oxygen–glucose deprivation/restoration (OGD/R) induced the expression of the Ang1 receptor Tie2 on BECs in a manner similar to that for integrin α5 and Ang1 in response to OGD/R, accompanied by increased activation of Tie2 and its downstream effectors focal adhesion kinase (FAK) and Akt. Knockdown of α5 integrin markedly suppressed OGD/R-induced Tie2 receptor activation in BECs, while in contrast, priming BECs with Ang1 promoted the expression of α5 integrin as well as the Tie2 downstream transcription factor Ets-1 in OGD-treated BECs. In line with this, Ets-1 knockdown significantly attenuated Ang1- mediated upregulation of α5 integrin. Functionally, Ang1 induced cell migration and tube formation of BECs after OGD, but this effect was inhibited by diminishment of the levels of α5 integrin in BECs. Taken together, our data indicate that the Ang1/Tie2 system cross-talks with integrin α5β1 in BECs after CI, which may contribute to the endogenous angiogenic vascular protective response following CI.

      • An Improved PSO Algorithm Based CommunityTopic Refinement Strategy for Social Network

        Aiming at the division roughness of topic classification existing in the most online social networks community, the improved particle swarm optimization algorithm is applied to refine community topics and concepts of community seeds and community topic are also introduced. In this paper, first of all, the explicit links existing in the community are mined, and the basic community structure is constructed, then the community content is deeply analyzed, according to implicit feature between nodes under online community, community topic categories are elaborately refined until structure is stable. Experiments show that this proposed algorithm can accelerate the convergence of the node and greatly improves the topic mining accuracy of online social network compared with the state-of-art CR2NDAS model and PLSA model.
