Relationships among several similarity measures of single-valued neutrosophic sets

Xiaoman Wang,Ke Yun Qin 원광대학교 기초자연과학연구소 2020 ANNALS OF FUZZY MATHEMATICS AND INFORMATICS Vol.19 No.1

Single-valued neutrosophic set (SVNS) handling the uncertainties characterized by truth, indeterminacy, and falsity membership degrees, is an extension of fuzzy set and intuitionistic fuzzy set. It provides a more flexible way to capture uncertainty. This paper is devoted to the disscussion of relationships among several existing similarity measures of SVNSs. In addition, it is shown that some existing similarity measures are equivalent. The comparative results of this study provide convenience for applying similarity measures of SVNSs to practical problems.

Preparation of ZnO@void@SiO2 Rattle Type Core–Shell Nanoparticles via Layer-by-Layer Method

        Xiaoman Wang,Junda Song,Hongling Chen 성균관대학교(자연과학캠퍼스) 성균나노과학기술원 2016 NANO Vol.11 No.9

In this paper, we prepared the rattle type nanoparticles ZnO@void@SiO2 by two successive coating processes, followed by heat treatment. The carbon layer was formed over ZnO surface with the aid of the hydrothermal treatment of glucose. Then the resulting composite was used to fabricate a silica shell on the surface by sol–gel method. Finally, ZnO particles were released but still trapped inside the silica hollow after calcination, that is, ZnO@void@SiO2. The composites were characterized by scanning and transmission electron microscope, N2 adsorption experiment, X-ray diffraction, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy and UV-Vis absorption spectra. The rattle type structure was conformed and the sphere-like structure with the average size of 70 nm and hexagonal wurtzite crystal structure were also observed. The measurement results of optical properties showed even though ZnO@C@SiO2 presented no photocatalysis, ZnO@void@SiO2 showed high activity even the ZnO core was encapsulated with the SiO2 hollow.

Whey Protein Concentrate, Pullulan, and Trehalose as Thermal Protective Agents for Increasing Viability of Lactobacillus plantarum Starter by Spray Drying

        Haiyue Sun,Xiaoman Hua,Minghao Zhang,Yu Wang,Yiying Chen,Jing Zhang,Chao Wang,Yuhua Wang 한국축산식품학회 2020 한국축산식품학회지 Vol.40 No.1

It is necessary to add protective agents for protecting the probiotic viability in the preparation process of probiotics starter. In this study, we used whey protein concentrate (WPC), pullulan, trehalose, and sodium glutamate as the protective agent and optimized the proportion of protective agent and spray-drying parameters to achieve the best protective effect on Lactobacillus plantarum. Moreover, the viable counts of L. plantarum in starter stored at different temperatures (–20℃, 4℃, and 25℃) for 360 days were determined. According to response surface method (RSM), the optimal proportion of protective agent was 24.6 g/L WPC, 18.8 g/L pullulan, 16.7 g/L trehalose and 39.3 g/L sodium glutamate. The optimum spray-drying parameters were the ratio of bacteria to protective agents 3:1 (v: v), the feed flow rate 240 mL/h, and the inlet air temperature 115℃ through orthogonal test. Based on the above results, the viable counts of L. plantarum was 12.22±0.27 Log CFU/g and the survival rate arrived at 85.12%. The viable counts of L. plantarum stored at –20℃ was more than 1010 CFU/g after 200 days.

The Use of Toluidine Blue Staining Combined with Paraffin Sectioning and the Optimization of Freeze-thaw Counting Methods for Analysing Root-Knot Nematodes in Tomato

        Xiaoman Li,Wenchao Zhao,Xiaoxuan Zhou,Jiaping Feng,Yingjian Gao,Xuehui Yao,Yang Liu,Jie Liu,Rui Yang,Fukuan Zhao,Shaohui Wang 한국원예학회 2017 Horticulture, Environment, and Biotechnology Vol.58 No.6

Root-knot nematodes (RKNs) (Meloidogyne spp.) are one of the most damaging crop pests and cause severeyield losses worldwide. Easier and more efficient methods are needed for assessing nematode infestations and hostplant resistance. In the present study, we combined toluidine blue staining and paraffin sectioning to observe theestablishment of giant cells (GCs; redifferentiated cells induced by nematode feeding) and the developmental status ofRKNs in tomato (Solanum lycopersicum). The number of RKNs was counted using a modified freeze-thaw countingmethod. Finally, three tomato lines with different levels of RKN resistance, but otherwise identical genetic backgrounds, were tested to verify the applicability of the combined method. The results suggested that using toluidine blue stainingcombined with paraffin sectioning and freeze-thaw counting accurately reflects the level of RKN resistance of tomato plants.

Application of Acoustical Method to Characterize Nonwoven Material

        Tao Yang,Xiaoman Xiong,Yuanfeng Wang,Rajesh Mishra,Michal Petrů,Jiří Militký 한국섬유공학회 2021 Fibers and polymers Vol.22 No.3

Some structural parameters, such as tortuosity, viscous and thermal characteristic lengths, are difficult to obtainthrough direct measurements. Existing indirect methods, i.e. acoustical method, make it possible to estimate theseparameters. This paper presents an application of acoustical inversion methods for estimating structural parameters ofpolyester nonwoven materials. A four-microphone impedance tube was used to measure sound reflection and transmissioncoefficients. The inversion methods used in this research are least square and Bayesian approaches. The least square methodwas achieved via Nelder-Mead algorithm. The Bayesian inversion process was conducted with Metropolis-Hastingsalgorithm and maximum a posteriori. Inversed parameters from two methods as well as front and back sides of nonwovenfabric were compared. Moreover, inversed porosity and airflow resistivity were compared with measured values. The resultsshow that the least square and Bayesian methods has a good agreement. Estimated parameters from Bayesian method wereselected for further analysis. A sizable differences on thermal characteristic length were found by comparing the values fromtwo sides, while the differences are relatively small for other parameters. It is also found that the inversed porosity, tortuosityare reasonable. The results suggest that the acoustical inversion methods can be used to accurately characterize polyesterfibrous materials.

The processes on graft union formation in tomato

        Jingwei Fan,Rui Yang,Xiaoman Li,Wenchao Zhao,Fukuan Zhao,Shaohui Wang 한국원예학회 2015 Horticulture, Environment, and Biotechnology Vol.56 No.5

Despite the long and widespread use of grafting in tomato cultivation, the structural changes that occur at the graft union during the early stages of the union remain poorly understood. In this study, the structural development of the graft union in tomato plants was examined 3, 5, 8, 11 and 14 days after grafting (DAG) using scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and a paraffin sectioning technique. The paraffin-sectioned images of the transection revealed that parenchymal cells from the graft union divided and proliferated in most combinations, and these cells could be detected at various stages of development. The SEM images of the scion and rootstock longitudinal sections showed that many interconnecting structures appeared at 8 DAG and were followed by a vascular rearrangement that did not connect the scion and rootstock. Vascular bundle bridges appeared at 11 DAG and connected the scion and rootstock. The connection of graft union between rootstock and scion is influenced by the plant growth condition. In our managed environment, period for formation of the connection structure formation between the rootstock and scion was 7-14 days after grafting.

The N-Terminal α-Helix Domain of Pseudomonas aeruginosa Lipoxygenase Is Required for Its Soluble Expression in Escherichia coli but Not for Catalysis

( Xinyao Lu ),( Guangsheng Wang ),( Yue Feng ),( Song Liu ),( Xiaoman Zhou ),( Guocheng Du ),( Jian Chen ) 한국미생물 · 생명공학회 2016 Journal of microbiology and biotechnology Vol.26 No.10

Lipoxygenase (LOX) is an industrial enzyme with wide applications in food and pharmaceutical industries. The available structure information indicates that eukaryotic LOXs consist of N terminus β-barrel and C terminus catalytic domains. However, the latest crystal structure of Pseudomonas aeruginosa LOX shows it is significantly different from those of eukaryotic LOXs, including the N-terminal helix domain. In this paper, the functions of this Nterminal helix domain in the soluble expression and catalysis of P. aeruginosa LOX were analyzed. Genetic truncation of this helix domain resulted in an insoluble P. aeruginosa LOX mutant. The active C-terminal domain was obtained by dispase digestion of the P. aeruginosa LOX derivative containing the genetically introduced dispase recognition sites. This functional C-terminal domain showed raised substrate affinity but reduced catalytic activity and thermostability. Crystal structure analyses demonstrate that the broken polar contacts connecting the two domains and the exposed hydrophobic substrate binding pocket may contribute to the insoluble expression of the C terminus domain and the changes in the enzyme properties. Our data suggest that the N terminus domain of P. aeruginosa LOX is required for its soluble expression in E. coli, which is different from that of the eukaryotic LOXs. Besides this, this N-terminal domain is not necessary for catalysis but shows positive effects on the enzyme properties. The results presented here provide new and valuable information on the functions of the N terminus helix domain of P. aeruginosa LOX and further improvement of its enzyme properties by molecular modification.

Fluence rate-dependent intratumor heterogeneity in physiologic and cytotoxic responses to Photofrin photodynamic therapy

        Busch, Theresa M.,Xing, Xiaoman,Yu, Guoqiang,Yodh, Arjun,Wileyto, E.Paul,Wang, Hsing-Wen,Durduran, Turgut,Zhua, Timothy C.,Wang, Ken Kang-Hsin Korean Society of Photoscience 2009 Photochemical & photobiological sciences Vol.8 No.12

Photodynamic therapy (PDT) can lead to the creation of heterogeneous, response-limiting hypoxia during illumination, which may be controlled in part through illumination fluence rate. In the present report we consider (1) regional differences in hypoxia, vascular response, and cell kill as a function of tumor depth and (2) the role of fluence rate as a mediator of depth-dependent regional intratumor heterogeneity. Intradermal RIF murine tumors were treated with Photofrin PDT using surface illumination at an irradiance of 75 or 38 mW $cm^{-2}$. Regional heterogeneity in tumor response was examined through comparison of effects in the surface vs. base of tumors, i.e. along a plane parallel to the skin surface and perpendicular to the incident illumination. 75 mW $cm^{-2}$ PDT created significantly greater hypoxia in tumor bases relative to their surfaces. Increased hypoxia in the tumor base could not be attributed to regional differences in Photofrin concentration nor effects of fluence rate distribution on photochemical oxygen consumption, but significant depth-dependent heterogeneity in vascular responses and cytotoxic response were detected. At a lower fluence rate of 38 mW $cm^{-2}$, no detectable regional differences in hypoxia or cytotoxic responses were apparent, and heterogeneity in vascular response was significantly less than that during 75 mW $cm^{-2}$ PDT. This research suggests that the benefits of low-fluence-rate PDT are mediated in part by a reduction in intratumor heterogeneity in hypoxic, vascular and cytotoxic responses.

A Critical Role of OsMADS1 in the Development of the Body of the Palea in Rice

        Jianmin Wan,Wenwei Zhang,Jie Zhang,Yue Cai,Haigang Yan,Jie Jin,Xiaoman You,Liang Wang,Fei Kong,Ming Zheng,Guoxiang Wang,Ling Jiang 한국식물학회 2018 Journal of Plant Biology Vol.61 No.1

OsMADS1 plays crucial roles in the specification of floral organ identity and the determinacy of floral meristem in rice (Oryza sativa). Here we isolated a rice mutant cy15 with defective spikelets. Map-based cloning identified cy15 as a novel mutation in the C terminus of OsMADS1. Severe cy15 spikelets contained normal inner whorl organs but defective paleas, opposite to four abnormal whorls of Osmads1 flowers reported previously. In the cy15 spikelets, the size of the body was remarkably reduced in paleas, indicating a critical role of OsMADS1 in its differentiation. Moreover, the development of palea was impaired in the early stage of the cy15 spikelets. The sub-subcellular location of the mutant OsMADS1 was also affected in cy15. On the other hand, the truncated C terminus of the mutant OsMADS1 from cy15 still showed a significant transcriptional activator function. Meanwhile, though the mutant OsMADS1 retained intact M, I and K domains, its interactions with two highly homologous A-class proteins, OsMADS15 or OsMADS14, were weakened or abolished. Our data suggested that the C-terminal sequence of OsMADS1 might be required for maintaining normal morphology of spikelets in rice.
