A Hierarchical Model Predictive Voltage Control for NPC/H-Bridge Converters with a Reduced Computational Burden

        Zheng Gong,Peng Dai,Xiaojie Wu,Fujin Deng,Dong Liu,Zhe Chen 전력전자학회 2017 JOURNAL OF POWER ELECTRONICS Vol.17 No.1

In recent years, voltage source multilevel converters are very popular in medium/high-voltage industrial applications, among which the NPC/H-Bridge converter is a popular solution to the medium/high-voltage drive systems. The conventional finite control set model predictive control (FCS-MPC) strategy is not practical for multilevel converters due to their substantial calculation requirements, especially under high number of voltage levels. To solve this problem, a hierarchical model predictive voltage control (HMPVC) strategy with referring to the implementation of g-h coordinate space vector modulation (SVM) is proposed. By the hierarchical structure of different cost functions, load currents can be controlled well and common mode voltage can be maintained at low values. The proposed strategy could be easily expanded to the systems with high number of voltage levels while the amount of required calculation is significantly reduced and the advantages of the conventional FCS-MPC strategy are reserved. In addition, a HMPVC-based field oriented control scheme is applied to a drive system with the NPC/H-Bridge converter. Both steady-state and transient performances are evaluated by simulations and experiments with a down-scaled NPC/H-Bridge converter prototype under various conditions, which validate the proposed HMPVC strategy.

Investigation on characteristics of pressure fluctuation in a centrifugal pump with clearance flow

        Lulu Zheng,Xiaoping Chen,Wei Zhang,Zu-chao Zhu,Jinglei Qu,Mengmeng Wang,Xiaojie Ma,Xueli Cheng 대한기계학회 2020 JOURNAL OF MECHANICAL SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY Vol.34 No.9

Clearance flow has great impact on pressure fluctuation of centrifugal pumps. Numerical calculations are performed to study the pressure fluctuation characteristics of centrifugal pump with wear ring clearance, especially in the regions of interaction between main flow and clearance flow (IMC) and clearance. The accuracy of numerical calculations is illustrated by comparing the experiments of performance and pressure fluctuation. Results show that, in clearance region the pressure fluctuation is still governed by blade passing frequency (f BPF ). Its amplitude of dominate frequency of pressure fluctuation becomes larger as the probe approaches the impeller exit. In IMC region, the pressure fluctuation at impeller outlet is dominated by f BPF . However, the dominate frequency at the entrance of impeller is less than f BPF . In addition, as the flow rate increased, the amplitude of dominate frequency of pressure fluctuation increases at impeller entrance, whereas an inverse trend is observed at wear ring clearance region.

Three‑stage model predictive control for modular multilevel converters with comprehensive performance optimization

        Ping Tuo,Zheng Gong,Xi Zheng,Chun Zhao,Xiaojie Wu 전력전자학회 2024 JOURNAL OF POWER ELECTRONICS Vol.24 No.7

Model predictive control (MPC) is recognized as an efficient control method for the modular multilevel converter (MMC), owing to its advantages, such as good robustness, rapid dynamic response, and multi-objective control. However, due to the coupling relationship between the ac-side current and the circulating current, the existing MPC has an impact on the ac-side current while suppressing the circulating current. In this paper, the relationship between the ac-side current performance and circulating current suppression is discussed in detail, and a three-stage MPC (TS-MPC) strategy is proposed to optimize the comprehensive performance. With the ac-side current control, circulating current control, and comprehensive optimization control, the optimum performance of both the ac-side current and circulating current suppression is realized while maintaining a low computational burden. Moreover, a grouping sorting algorithm is designed to reduce the calculation burden and to balance the capacitor voltages. The steady-state and transient performances of the proposed TS-MPC strategy have been verified by experimental results, which validates its correctness and effectiveness.

Study on optimal conditions and adsorption kinetics of copper from water by collodion membrane cross-linked poly-γ-glutamic acid

        Xiangting Wu,Aiyin Wang,Xiaojie Zheng,Guoxing Li,Xinjiao Dong,Mingjiang Wu 한국화학공학회 2013 Korean Journal of Chemical Engineering Vol.30 No.6

Poly-γ-glutamic acid (γ-PGA) is a novel polyamino acid formed through microorganism fermentation and biosynthesis. In the present test, membrane (PGA-C) formation by γ-PGA and collodion was performed by using 0.1%glutaraldehyde as a cross-linking agent. A study was conducted on the PGA-C adsorption of Cu2+, specifically the related adsorption equilibrium and kinetics, desorption and regeneration. The results show that with an initial solution pH=5.5and at 318 K, the static adsorption isotherm behavior of PGA-C is in compliance with the Langmuir model and is beneficial to the adsorption of the metal. Meanwhile, with the reaction lasting for 30min, adsorption equilibrium was reached with a maximum adsorption capacity up to 7.431 mg/g. The entire reaction process follows the pseudo-second-order kinetics. By using PGA-C, good regeneration results were obtained after adsorption-generation-adsorption cycling with an HCl solution (0.1 mol/L) as regeneration liquid.

Downregulation of lysyl oxidase and lysyl oxidase-like protein 2 suppressed the migration and invasion of trophoblasts by activating the TGF-β/collagen athway in preeclampsia

        Xiang-Hong Xu,Yuanhui Jia,Xinyao Zhou,Dandan Xie,Xiaojie Huang,Linyan Jia,Qian Zhou,Qingliang Zheng,Xiangyu Zhou,Kai Wang,Li-Ping Jin 생화학분자생물학회 2019 Experimental and molecular medicine Vol.51 No.-

Preeclampsia is a pregnancy-specific disorder that is a major cause of maternal and fetal morbidity and mortality with a prevalence of 6–8% of pregnancies. Although impaired trophoblast invasion in early pregnancy is known to be closely associated with preeclampsia, the underlying mechanisms remain elusive. Here we revealed that lysyl oxidase (LOX) and LOX-like protein 2 (LOXL2) play a critical role in preeclampsia. Our results demonstrated that LOX and LOXL2 expression decreased in preeclamptic placentas. Moreover, knockdown of LOX or LOXL2 suppressed trophoblast cell migration and invasion. Mechanistically, collagen production was induced in LOX- or LOXL2-downregulated trophoblast cells through activation of the TGF-β1/Smad3 pathway. Notably, inhibition of the TGF-β1/Smad3 pathway could rescue the defects caused by LOX or LOXL2 knockdown, thereby underlining the significance of the TGF-β1/ Smad3 pathway downstream of LOX and LOXL2 in trophoblast cells. Additionally, induced collagen production and activated TGF-β1/Smad3 were observed in clinical samples from preeclamptic placentas. Collectively, our study suggests that the downregulation of LOX and LOXL2 leading to reduced trophoblast cell migration and invasion through activation of the TGF-β1/Smad3/collagen pathway is relevant to preeclampsia. Thus, we proposed that LOX, LOXL2, and the TGF-β1/Smad3/collagen pathway can serve as potential markers and targets for clinical diagnosis and therapy for preeclampsia.

Regeneration of fat cells from myofibroblasts during wound healing

        Plikus, Maksim V.,Guerrero-Juarez, Christian F.,Ito, Mayumi,Li, Yun Rose,Dedhia, Priya H.,Zheng, Ying,Shao, Mengle,Gay, Denise L.,Ramos, Raul,Hsi, Tsai-Ching,Oh, Ji Won,Wang, Xiaojie,Ramirez, Amanda,K American Association for the Advancement of Scienc 2017 Science Vol.355 No.6326

Although regeneration through the reprogramming of one cell lineage to another occurs in fish and amphibians, it has not been observed in mammals. We discovered in the mouse that during wound healing, adipocytes regenerate from myofibroblasts, a cell type thought to be differentiated and nonadipogenic. Myofibroblast reprogramming required neogenic hair follicles, which triggered bone morphogenetic protein (BMP) signaling and then activation of adipocyte transcription factors expressed during development. Overexpression of the BMP antagonist Noggin in hair follicles or deletion of the BMP receptor in myofibroblasts prevented adipocyte formation. Adipocytes formed from human keloid fibroblasts either when treated with BMP or when placed with human hair follicles in vitro. Thus, we identify the myofibroblast as a plastic cell type that may be manipulated to treat scars in humans.
