The Pharmaco-Constituents of the Pulsatilla Koreana Roots, of which roots and rhizomes have been used for the treatment of evil heat, malaria, chill, fever, epistaxis and internal hemorrhoids etc. in Korean folk remedies. From the Ether extract of Roots, two triterpenoidal sapogenins were isolated and elucidated as ursolic acid and oleanolic acid based on their physico-chemical data and IR, EI-MS, ^13C-NMR, and ^1H-NMR analysis with authentics, respectively.

The pharmaco-constituents of the aerial part of Veratrum grandiflorum, of which roots and rhizomes have been used for the treatment of scabies, pimple, dandruff etc. in Korean folk remedies, and used as emetics, antituberculosis drugs, and antihypertensive drugs in Oriental Medicines were studied phytochemically. From H_2O fraction of MeOH extract, a flavone glycoside and a free flavone were isolated and elucidated as luteolin-7-O-β-D-glucuronopyranoside and luteolin through their physico-chemical data and UV, IR, EI-MS, FAB-MS, GC, ^13C-NMR, and ^1H-NMR analysis with authentics respectively.

Constituents from the leaves of Acanthopanax senticosus var. Koreanus(Araliaceae), a plant origin of Acanthopanax senticosi Cortex which has been used as tonic, stress-relaxing agent, antidiabetes, antirheumatic, etc. in Korean folk medicine were isolated. The methanolic extracts of dried leaves of Acanthopanax senticosus var. Koreanus was suspended in ether to remove fatty substances. The aqueous fraction was further seperated by Amberlite XAD-2 column employing gradient solvent systems(H_2O, 20, 40, 60, 100% MeOH). By successive column chromatography using sephadex LH-20, ODS and polasil gel. Compound Ⅰ and Cpmpound Ⅱ, were isolated from the 40% MeOH fraction. Chemical structures of Compound Ⅰ and Ⅱ were identified as chiisanoside, and quercetin-3-β-D-galactopyranoside respectively on the basis of physico-chemical and spectral data of IR, FAB-MS, ^1H-NMR, ^13C-NMR, ^1H-^1H COSY, ^13C-^1H COSY and HMBC(^1H-Derected Multiple-bonded Heteronuclear quantum Coherence spectrum).

Organic Ge and Se are very important agents of anti-cancer and preventive geriatric disease drugs so on. We were carried out the micro-elements(Ge, Se, Fe, Mg and Zn) content of several Ginsengs that were cultivated in Korea(6 regional groups) and foreign countries(Japan, China and America) by ICP analysis. From results, Ginseng of Kumsan have been appeared to high levels of Ge and Se contents in comparison with other regional samples. Especially 4 years old Ginseng appeared to high levels of Ge, Se but also Fe, Mg and Zn contents.
Flavonoids from Codonopsis lanceolata Leaves

For the investigation of resources in Codonopsis species, the studies were carried out to evaluate the pharmaco-constituents from the leaves of Codonopsis lanceolata (Campanulaceae) whose roots have been used to antitussive, expectorant, detoxicate, tonic, edible, etc. as a folk medicine in Korea. From the EtOAc and BuOH fractions of MeOH extract, three flavonoid compounds, $luteolin-7-O-{\beta}-_D-glucopyranoside$$(C_{21}H_{20}O_{1i},\;mp\;254{\sim}255^{\circ}$, compound 1), $luteolin-5-O-{\beta}-_D-glucopyranoside$$(C_{21}H_{20}O_{1i},\;mp\;279{\sim}281^{\circ}$, compound 2) and luteolin $(C_{15}H_{10}O_6,\;mp\;327{\sim}330^{\circ}$, compound 3) were isolated and identified on the basis of their physicochemical properties and spectroscopic evidences(UV, IR, $^1H-NMR$, $^{13}C-NMR$, MS etc.) in comparison with authentics respectively.
Aromatic Compounds and Tritepenoidal Saponins from Clematis koreana var. umbrosa

From the methanolic extract of aerial parts of Clematis koreana var. umbrosa, one new triterpenoidal saponin, 3-O-${\beta}$-D-xylopyranosyl(1-3)-${\alpha}$-L-arabinopyranosyl oleanolic acid 28-O-${\alpha}$-L-rhamnopyranosyl(1-4)-${\beta}$-glucopyranosyl(1-6)-${\beta}$-glucopyranosyl ESTER, along with five known aromatic compounds and two known triterpenoidal saponins were isolated.
Saponins from the Fructus of Kochia scoparia

Two new triterpenoidal saponins B(1) and C(2) were isolated from the fructus of Kochia scoparia. On the basis of chemico-spectral evidences, the structures of 1 and 2 were elucidated as oleanolic acid 3-O-$\beta$-D-ribopyranosyl-(1$\rightarrow$2)-.betha.-D-glucuronopyranoside and 3-O-$\beta$-D-xylopyranosyl-(1$\rightarrow$3)-$\beta$-D-glucuronopyranosyl-olean-12-en-28-O-$\beta$-D-glucopyranosyl ester, respectively.
New Flavonol Glycosides from Leaves of Symplocarpus renifolius

A study was carried out to evaluate flavonol glycosides in leaves of Symplocarpus renifolius (Araceae). From the water fraction of the MeOH extract, three new flavonol glycosides were isolated along with three known compounds, Kaempferol-3-O-$\beta$-glucopyranosyl-($1{\rightarrow}2$)-$\beta$-D-glucopyranosyl-7-O-$\beta$-D-glucopyranoside, quercetin-3-O-$\beta$-D-glucopyranosy-1-($1{\rightarrow}2$)-$\beta$-D-glucopyranoside, and caffeic acid. The structures of the new flavonol glycosides were elucidated by chemical and spectral analyses a quercetin-3-O-$\beta$-D-glucopyranosyl-($1{\rightarrow}2$)-$\beta$-D-glucopyranosyl-7-O-$\beta$-D-glucopyranoside, isorhamnetin-3-O-$\beta$-D-glucopyranosyl-(1 2)-$\beta$-D-glucopyranosyl-7-O-$\beta$-D-glucopyranosdie, and quercetin-3-O$\beta$-D-glucopyranosyl-($1{\rightarrow}2$)-$\beta$-D-glycopyranosyl-7-O-($6^{IIII}$-trans-caffeoyl)-$\beta$-D-glucopyranoside.
