A three-dimensional finite element model that can simulate multiple start/stop welding process of 347H austenitic stainless steel boiler tubes was developed to estimate welding residual stress distributions. Two-dimensional axisymmetric finite element model and threedimensional finite element model that exhibit half symmetry along circumferential direction are also employed for verification purposes. Sequentially coupled thermo-mechanical finite element analyses were carried out using three different models to obtain and compare temperature fields and resulting residual stress fields. In addition, node-based temperature heat input method and element-based body flux heat input method were applied to three-dimensional half symmetry model to review the adequacy of heat input model that can best estimate welding residual stress distribution in the tubes. Finally, welding residual stresses obtained using different models were compared with measured data, and it was observed that results using three-dimensional finite element model that can take into account welding start/stop effects are in good agreement with those of measured data obtained by the X-ray diffraction (XRD) method.

The present study examined the effects of Tween 80 on the attachment and hydrolytic activity of a cellulase enzyme against ball-milled cellulose (BMC), using the whole component (native CBH I) and the catalysis module (core CBH I) of carbohydrolase I purified from Trichoderma viride (Meicelase, Meiji Seika, Tokyo, Japan). The effects were evaluated as protein concentrations in the supernatant after mixing enzyme and substrate with Tween 80 at room temperature. Tween 80 decreased the adsorption of native CBH I and core CBH I onto BMC (p<0.001) and increased the amount of reducing sugars released from BMC by native CBH I (p<0.001). However, Tween 80 did not enhance the hydrolytic activity of core CBH I. Observations using SEM revealed that Tween 80 caused cellulose filter paper to swell and enhanced surface cracks and filaments caused by native CBH I but not by core CBH I. These results suggested that Tween 80 decreases enzyme adsorption to its substrate but enhances enzymatic activity.

디스플레이 장치와 영상 기술의 발전으로 3D 입체 영상에 대한 관심과 기술적 접근이 어느 때 보다 활발하다. 입체 영상의 경우 통상 복수의 평면 영상을 이용하여 합성하게 되는데 이 과정에서 각 영상의 객관적 화질을 서로 달리 함으로써 주관적 화질을 향상시킬 수 있다는 연구가 진행되어 왔다. 그러나 객관적 화질을 지나치게 달리 하거나 전반적으로 낮은 화질의 영상에서는 경계선이 제대로 재현되지 않아 입체감을 떨어뜨리는 문제가 발생한다. 또한 기존의 연구는 스테레오 영상에 한해서만 위의 가설을 검증하였으나 최근의 입체 영상에 관한 연구는 스테레오 영상뿐만 아니라 다시점 영상에서도 활발히 진행되고 있다. 본 논문에서는 스테레오 영상과 9시점 영상에서의 비대칭 영상 부호화가 주관적 화질에 미치는 영향을 검증하고 구체적으로 어느 정도의 객관적 화질 차이를 유지하는 것이 비대칭 부호화에서 가장 효율적인지를 밝힌다. 또한 기존의 비대칭 영상 부호화와 비교하여 주관적 화질을 개선할 수 있는 더욱 효율적인 알고리듬을 제안한다. 제안되는 알고리듬은 경계선의 강도를 기준으로 매크로블록의 양자화 파라미터를 달리 하여 영상의 경계선을 보호하는 방법으로써 기존의 비대칭 영상 부호화보다 더욱 향상된 주관적 화질을 얻을 수 있다.

Distribution of welding residual stresses are mainly characterized by degrees and frequencies of thermal loads applied to materials. However, other effects as component size and clamping condition can also affect stress distributions to a certain extent thus careful manipulation of these parameters based on clear understanding of how they affect residual stresses distributions and why can be additional measure to mitigate residual stresses. This paper discusses aforementioned issues for the case of safety and relief nozzle in nuclear power plant through finite element analysis.

In this study, several sets of numerical calculation are performed to investigate geometric effects of main steam isolation valve components on valve’s structural integrity. In particular, stress distributions around valve’s stem neck are closely evaluated where a full scale rupture had occurred. Components of MSIV such as ring, stem, poppet are remodeled and stress calculation are followed to find major geometric effects from which stem neck rupture may have been initiated. Finally, Major geometric factors are indentified and their contribution to stress concentration are evaluated and then compared.

Local anesthetics convert into cations in the body and bind to specific receptors in the sodium ion channel in the cell membrane to prevent the inflow of sodium ions and prevent cell membrane potential changes. This results in no neuronal transmission of the cells. Local anesthetics have been used to treat pain after surgery or through postoperative pain. However, local anesthetics can cause fatal side effects to prevent neurotransmission. It also changes heart rate, stimulates the central nervous system to give a sense of helplessness or delay breathing. The toxicity of these local anesthetics does not only affect the membrane protein, but also has a direct effect on the biomembrane. Toxicity studies applied to membrane proteins have been carried out so far, but toxicity studies applied to biomembranes have not progressed much. SEM photographs of the cells confirmed that the cells have an effect on the biomembrane and IC50 confirmed the cytotoxicity of lidocaine and tetracaine. Artificial cell membrane were prepared with a black lipid bilayer incorporating gramicidin and polydiacetylene (PDA), and the effects of local anesthetics on the biomembrane were quantitatively measured. These measurements can be used to measure the biomembrane toxicity of other local anesthetics and new local anesthetic agents.
