Background Diethylstilbestrol (DES) has been shown to disrupt the morphology and proliferation of gubernaculum testis cells. Objective This study aimed to elucidate the mechanism underlying DES induced damage to gubernaculum testis based on proteome analysis. Results Neonatal mice were exposed to DES or control vehicle and the gonads were collected for isobaric tags for relative and absolute quantitation based proteomics analysis. We found that at the early and late stages of gubernaculum development, treatment with different concentrations of DES upregulated the expression of proteins which were generally involved in several function categories including single-organism process, cellular process, binding, catalytic activity, cell part and organelle. KEGG pathway analysis showed that cardiac muscle contraction, oxidative phosphorylation, calcium signaling and cGMP-PKG signaling pathway were the most dysregulated pathways associated with DES in the late stage of gubernaculum development, while steroid biosynthesis was the only enriched pathway in the early stage of gubernaculum development. Conclusion Proteomics profi ling and functional analysis reveal new clues on how DES interferes with cellular processes and disrupts the development of gubernaculum. These findings have potential applications in the treatment of genitourinary diseases such as cryptorchidism.
Complex Modification of Hypereutectic Al-Si Alloy by a New Al-Y-P Master Alloy
Min Zuo,Degang Zhao,Zhenqing Wang,Haoran Geng 대한금속·재료학회 2015 METALS AND MATERIALS International Vol.21 No.4
In this article, a novel Al-6Y-2P master alloy with cubic YP particles was successfully synthesized and its complex modification performance on Al-18Si alloy has also been investigated. With the doping of La and Ce, (YxLa1-x)P and (YxCe1-x)P particles still exhibit cubic morphologies in three dimensional spaces (3-D space). The excellent complex modification of Al-18Si alloy can be obtained with the addition of Al-6Y-2P master alloy. Under the optimized conditions, i.e. melting temperature of 780 °C, addition level of 1.5 wt% and holding time of 30-60 min, the tensile strength and Brinell hardness of Al-18Si alloys can be significantly increased by 16.8% and 17.1%, respectively. It is proposed that the Si atoms in the melt could promote the structure evolution of YP to AlP with the release of Y, which would be reason for the excellent composite modification performance of the developed Al-6Y-2P master alloy.
Investigation of Stimulated Polariton Scattering from the B₁-symmetry Modes of the KNbO₃ Crystal
Zhongyang Li,Mengtao Wang,Silei Wang,Bin Yuan,Pibin Bing,Degang Xu,Jianquan Yao 한국광학회 2018 Current Optics and Photonics Vol.2 No.1
Stimulated polariton scattering from the B₁-symmetry modes of a KNbO₃ crystal to generate a terahertz wave (THz-wave) with a noncollinear phase-matching scheme is investigated. The frequency-tuning characteristics of the THz-wave by varying the phase-matching angle and pump wavelength are analyzed. The expression for the effective parametric gain length under the noncollinear phase-matching condition is deduced. Parametric gain and absorption characteristics of the THz-wave in KNbO₃ are theoretically simulated. The characteristics of KNbO₃ for a terahertz parametric oscillator (TPO) are compared to those of MgO:LiNbO₃. The analysis indicates that KNbO₃ is an excellent optical crystal for a TPO, to enhance the THz-wave output.
High‑Efficiency Inhibition of Gravity Segregation in Al–Bi Immiscible Alloys by Adding Lanthanum

The inhibition of gravity segregation has been a long-standing challenge in fabrication and applications of homogeneousimmiscible alloys. Therefore, the effect of rare-earth La on the gravity segregation of Al–Bi immiscible alloys was investigatedto understand the homogenization mechanism. The results showed that the addition of La can completely suppress thegravity segregation. This is attributed to the nucleation of Bi-rich liquid phase on the in-situ produced LaBi2phase and thechange of the shape of LaBi2@Bi droplets. In addition, a novel strategy is developed to prepare the homogeneous immisciblealloys through the addition of rare-earth elements. This strategy not only is applicable to other immiscible alloys, but alsois conducive to finding more elements to suppress the gravity segregation. This study provided a useful reference for thefabrication of the homogeneous immiscible alloys.
