Purpose: The clinical profile of seizures among children exhibits ethnic and geographical variations. The objective of this study was to examine the clinical, etiological, and demographic profiles of childhood seizures. Methods: This was a hospital-based, cross-sectional study. Data were collected on the socio-demographic profile, details of the clinical presentation of seizure episodes, past history of meningitis, and neuroimaging (i.e., computed tomography [CT] scans), as well as the history of risk factors. Numbers, percentages, the chi-square test, and the Fisher exact test statistic were calculated. A P value of <0.05 was considered significant. Results: This study included 102 patients, of whom 82 experienced generalized tonic-clonic seizures (GTCS) and the remaining 20 had focal seizures. The most common age at presentation was between 1 and 4 years (55.9%). Approximately 70.0% of the children experienced postictal confusion and drowsiness, 38.2% had fever or sleep deprivation, and 25.5% suffered from headaches or vomiting. Postictal confusion and drowsiness were significantly more prevalent in children with GTCS (76.8%) compared to those with focal seizures (45.0%). Cerebral edema was the most common abnormality detected on CT scans in children with GTCS (n=6). Conclusion: Younger age, neonatal brain insult, and family history were found to be associated with a higher risk of seizure episodes. Postictal confusion and drowsiness were identified as the most common clinical features. Postictal confusion and drowsiness were significantly more prevalent in GTCS compared to focal seizures. Cerebral edema was the most common abnormality observed in GTCS on CT neuroimaging.
COVERING CHARACTERIZATION OF LOCALLY UNIFORM SPACES
Vasudevan, R.,Goel, C.K. Department of Mathematics 1978 Kyungpook mathematical journal Vol.18 No.1
In this paper locally uniform spaces have been characterized through covers. It has been shown that both the approaches are equivalent.

The production of transgenic watermelon through Agrobacterium tumefaciens-mediated transformation with in vitro regen- eration system is a time-consuming, labor-intensive and genotype-dependent process. To acquire large number of transgenic watermelons in a shorter period of time, the half-seed explants were infected with Agrobacterium strain EHA 105 harboring pCAMBIA1301 with bar and gus genes. The factors affecting in planta transformation efficiency, such as co-cultivation duration, acetosyringone concentration, sonication duration and vacuum infiltration were assessed in the present study. The half-seed explants were sonicated for 3 min and 2 min vacuum infiltrated in Agrobacterium suspension and co-cultivated for 3 days with 100 µM acetosyringone showed maximum transformation efficiency. The transformed watermelon plants were selected against BASTA® and GUS, PCR, Southern hybridization analysis confirmed the transgene integration. The amenability of this established protocol was analyzed on four genotypes, in which the response of all genotypes was posi- tive, whereas Arka manik showed the higher transformation efficiency of 17%. The transformation protocol developed in the present study is efficient, economical and expeditious without the taking part of any tissue culture phases and produce a large number of transgenic lines within a short period of 56 days.
Nootropic Potential of Murraya koenigii leaves in Rats
Vasudevan, Mani,Parle, Milind,Sengottuvelu, Singaravel,Shanmugapriya, Thulasimani Kyung Hee Oriental Medicine Research Center 2008 Oriental pharmacy and experimental medicine Vol.8 No.4
Murraya koenigii leaves commonly known as 'curry patta' are routinely added to Indian gravy and vegetarian dishes by south Indian as a favourate condiment. The present study was undertaken to investigate the effects of Murraya koenigii leaves (MKL) on memory in rats. Elevated plus-maze and Hebb-Williams maze served as the exteroceptive behavioral models for testing memory. Diazepam-, scopolamine- and ageing-induced amnesia served as the interoceptive behavioral models. MKL fed orally to various groups of young and aged rats with diet containing 2, 4 and 8% w/w of MKL for 30 days consecutively were investigated. The MKL diets produced a significant dose-dependent improvement in memory scores of young and aged rats and significantly reduced the amnesia induced by scopolamine (0.4 mg/kg, i.p.) and diazepam (1 mg/kg, i.p.). Therefore, it would be worthwhile to specifically investigate the therapeutic potential of MKL in the management of dementia patients.
Trade Effects of Eurasian Economic Union and Global Production Sharing: A Gravity Analysis
Vasudevan Sanjeev,Manalaya Suresh Babu 한국국제경제학회 2021 International Economic Journal Vol.35 No.2
This study examines the effects of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) on global production sharing and trade in parts and components. With a panel dataset of disaggregated bilateral exports of EAEU members and 28 partners, we estimate an augmented gravity model for 2010–2017. To mitigate endogeneity issues, we employ the Hausman and Taylor Estimator. The study has two important findings. First, there are significant trade diversion effects on the exports of parts and components. Second, the formation of EAEU has resulted in a reduction in intra-bloc exports. In addition to these, we find that market size, inter-country differentials of income, businessfriendly climate, and cultural similarities are the other significant determinants of bilateral trade. Based on the empirical analysis, we propose that the EAEU normalise the Common External Tariff below the current level to minimise trade diversion.
Synthesis, Optical and Electrical Studies of Nonlinear Optical Crystal: L-Arginine Semi-oxalate
Vasudevan, P.,Sankar, S.,Jayaraman, D. Korean Chemical Society 2013 Bulletin of the Korean Chemical Society Vol.34 No.1
L-Arginine semi-oxalate (LASO) single crystal has been grown by solution growth technique at room temperature. The crystal structure and lattice parameters were determined for the grown crystal by single crystal X-ray diffraction studies. Photoluminescence studies confirm the violet fluorescence emission peak at 395 nm. Optical constants like band gap, refractive index, reflectance, extinction coefficient and electric susceptibility were determined from UV-VIS-NIR spectrum. The dielectric constant, dielectric loss and ac conductivity of the compound were calculated at different temperatures and frequencies to analyze the electrical properties. The solid state parameters such as plasma energy, Penn gap, Fermi energy and polarizability were calculated to analyze second harmonic generation (SHG). Nonlinear optical property was discussed to confirm the SHG efficiency of the grown crystal.
