Background: Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic entered Kazakhstan on 13 March 2020 and quickly spread over its territory. This study aimed at reporting on the rates of COVID-19 in the country and at making prognoses on cases, deaths, and recoveries through predictive modeling. Also, we attempted to forecast the needs in professional workforce depending on implementation of quarantine measures. Methods: We calculated both national and local incidence, mortality and case-fatality rates, and made forecast modeling via classic susceptible-exposed-infected-removed (SEIR) model. The Health Workforce Estimator tool was utilized for forecast modeling of health care workers capacity. Results: The vast majority of symptomatic patients had mild disease manifestations and the proportion of moderate disease was around 10%. According to the SEIR model, there will be 156 thousand hospitalized patients due to severe illness and 15.47 thousand deaths at the peak of an outbreak if no measures are implemented. Besides, this will substantially increase the need in professional medical workforce. Still, 50% compliance with quarantine may possibly reduce the deaths up to 3.75 thousand cases and the number of hospitalized up to 9.31 thousand cases at the peak. Conclusion: The outcomes of our study could be of interest for policymakers as they help to forecast the trends of COVID-19 outbreak, the demands for professional workforce, and to estimate the consequences of quarantine measures.

Objectives: The lack of advance planning in a public health emergency can lead to wasted resources and inadvertent loss of lives. This study is aimed at forecasting the needs for healthcare resources following the expansion of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) outbreak in the Republic of Kazakhstan, focusing on hospital beds, equipment, and the professional workforce in light of the developing epidemiological situation and the data on resources currently available. Methods: We constructed a forecast model of the epidemiological scenario via the classic susceptible-exposed-infected-removed (SEIR) approach. The World Health Organization’s COVID-19 Essential Supplies Forecasting Tool was used to evaluate the healthcare resources needed for the next 12 weeks. Results: Over the forecast period, there will be 104 713.7 hospital admissions due to severe disease and 34 904.5 hospital admissions due to critical disease. This will require 47 247.7 beds for severe disease and 1929.9 beds for critical disease at the peak of the COVID-19 outbreak. There will also be high needs for all categories of healthcare workers and for both diagnostic and treatment equipment. Thus, Republic of Kazakhstan faces the need for a rapid increase in available healthcare resources and/or for finding ways to redistribute resources effectively. Conclusions: Republic of Kazakhstan will be able to reduce the rates of infections and deaths among its population by developing and following a consistent strategy targeting COVID-19 in a number of inter-related directions.

The article considers current information technologies in the organization of educational work in secondary schools in Great Britain. The forms and types of organization of educational work in secondary schools of Great Britain with the help of modern information technologies are covered. The purposes of education with the help of modern information technologies are singled out. Mental, physical, labor, moral, aesthetic and other types of education, merged in a holistic educational process, provide an opportunity to achieve the main goal - the formation of a comprehensive and harmoniously developed personality. All forms of educational work have their pedagogical significance, and each of them is valuable in the process of education. Democratization and partnership development are the leading principles of education in British schools at the present stage; multiculturalism and student independence. This is the ability to promote the role of different types of education, such as: labor, moral, legal, religious, family, environmental, aesthetic, civic, physical, mental education, which is now possible with the help of current information technology. Background: The objective was to assess patients’ awareness of cardiovascular disease, its risk factors, and its association with attendance at outpatient clinics in patients with acute coronary syndrome (ACS). Methods: All patients of the Lyubertsy Infarct Survival Study-3 registry hospitalized with ACS from November 1, 2013, to July 31, 2015, were included (n = 397). We used medical histories and specifically designed checklists. Awareness was assessed in survived patients (n = 320) for dyslipidemia, diabetes, arterial hypertension, and previous myocardial infarction. Patients were divided into three groups depending on their attendance at outpatient clinics prior to ACS: attendants, partially compliant to attendance, and nonattendants. Results: Our study showed several differences between medical history data received from patients and data obtained from objective examination, which was true for arterial hypertension (p < 0.05) and particularly for dyslipidemia (p < 0.01). The majority of patients were aware of diabetes. All patients knew about previous myocardial infarction. Awareness of arterial hypertension slightly increased with increasing attendance (p > 0.05), whereas awareness of dyslipidemia increased dramatically (p < 0.01). Conclusion: Our study showed significant differences between medical history data received from patients and data obtained from objective examination for several cardiovascular disease risk factors in patients with ACS. Awareness of dyslipidemia was very low. It increased dramatically with increasing attendance. At the same time, there was only a slight increase in awareness of arterial hypertension with increase of attendance.
Effect of surface etching on the tensile behavior of coarse- and ultrafine-grained pure titanium
Baek, Seung Mi,Polyakov, Alexander V.,Moon, Ji Hyun,Semenova, Irina P.,Valiev, Ruslan Z.,Kim, Hyoung Seop Elsevier Sequoia 2017 Materials science & engineering Structural materia Vol.707 No.-

Abstract

For metallic biomaterials, surface treatment is essential for improving osseointegration. Acid etching is the basic method used for removing undesirable contaminants and increasing surface roughness. Although the obvious effect of the etching process is a change in surface characteristics, interestingly, surface etching can also affect the tensile properties of the material. In this paper, the influence of etching on the tensile behavior of pure titanium was investigated. The surface morphology and tensile properties of coarse- and ultrafine-grained pure titanium specimens were examined after hydrofluoric acid etching, in terms of the etching time. The ultrafine-grained titanium was prepared using conform equal-channel angular pressing to enhance the mechanical properties of the pure titanium. Micro-scale pores were observed, and tensile strength was decreased in the 1min etched coarse-grained titanium. The 20min etched coarse-grained specimen and the ultrafine-grained specimen with relatively homogeneous pore structure maintained or slightly increased their tensile strengths. These results provide a new foundation for the production of reliable metallic biomaterials.
