인류 역사의 초기부터 다양한 종류의 아이콘이 시각적 의사소통을 위해 사용되어 왔다. 전 세계의 벽화, 상형문자 등에서 발견되는 이러한 아이콘 간에는 많은 유사성이 있기 때문에, 대부분의 사람들은 비록 아이콘이나 옛 문자를 사용하고 있지 않더라도 이러한 옛 양식에 대한 일종의 향수를 느낀다. 본 논문에서는 인류 역사 및 인종을 통틀어 존재해온 다양한 종류의 아이콘을 시공간의 간극을 초월하여 통합하고, 이러한 통합 아이콘을 오늘날의 실제 풍경에 증강시키는 인터랙티브미디어 작품인 Historia를 제안하고, 디자인하여 구현한다. 이 작품은 공간상에 흐르는 다양한 아이콘이 스마트폰 화면상에 표시되는 응용프로그램으로서, 사용자는 일련의 아이콘에 텍스트 메시지를 등록함으로써 새로운 의미를 부여하거나 부가적인 정보를 제공하고, 배경에 그림문자가 증강된 영상을 스냅샷으로 취득할 수도 있도록 구성되었다. 프로토타입 시스템을 만들어 다양한 응용 가능성을 확인하였다. Various kinds of icons for visual communications have been used from the very beginning of human history. We can find such various kinds of icons in wall paintings all over the world, hieroglyphs and so on. There are lots of similarities among these icons. Because of this, even though most of us are not using these icons or old characters, we have a kind of nostalgic feeling toward these old forms. This artwork realizes the integration of various kinds of icons that have existed throughout the human history and throughout the human races jumping the gap of time and space. And these integrated icons are augmented on the actual scenery of today. On a display of a smart phone there are various icons flowing around on the space. Usersare required to write a new meaning of the icon sequence in English. The pictograph and the background are overlapped and composed in a form of snapshot.

한국에서 개최된 2012여수세계박람회에서 상영하기 위해 “사신기(四神旗)”라는 비디오 컨텐츠를 제작했다. 제작된 비디오 컨텐츠는 2012 여수세계박람회 기간 동안 엑스포디지털갤러리에 전시되었다. 본고에서는 “사신기”의 제작 의도 및 내용을 설명하고, 미술가, 디자이너, 공학 연구원들의 협업을 통한 컨텐츠 제작과정을 제시한다. We have created a video artwork called “Four God Flags” for the exhibition called Yeosu Expo 2011 that was held in Yeosu, Korea in 2011. The created artwork was exhibited at the exhibition place called Digital Gallery in Yeosu Expo 2011 during the expo. This paper describes the overview of the expo and how this artworks has been created under the collaboration between an artist, designers, and engineering researchers.

The folk-culture in Tado-hae islands has attracted attention of some scholars mainly on its religious aspects. But the method of the study shows the limited perspective, that is, a diffusionistic approach, which should be criticallyreconsidered. One example can be drawn from the study on the village annual festival in Songma island. According to the observational report by Kim Cheong-eop, there are twoseparate systems in this festival. One is an hierarchical and male-centered system which is assumed to be derived from thenothern continental culture. The otheris is an horizontal and female-centered system which is assumed to ce derived from the southern oceanic culture. And Kim presumes that the dualistic structure of the village festival has been well maintained because of the conservative enviroment of the island, to tell us the archaic featurer of two separate origins. This explanation is misleading in some ways. First, the dualistic structure of the village festival in Songma island is totally concordant with that of other areas in Korean Peninsula. Second, at more abstract level, we can easily admit that the structural form of the festival shows no inconsistency with the theoretical models of ritual or celebration which have been developed by anthropologists. Such misconceptions are derived from diffusionistic prejudice; confusion of the abstract wiht the concrete, misconstruction of theoretical levels, indeliberate separation of social facts from the totality of the living culture, and so on. if we take more productive way, we should seek to re-evaluate the materials in its own cultural context. An island is in this sense, an advantageous stage to grasp the totality of culture, but not to seek the archaic origin. Although we cannot present here an alternative conclusion for lack of enough ethnographic data, we can expect some good results if we continue to study the islands in such perspective.

<P>Bright harmonic generation in a long Ne gas jet achieved using self-guided and chirped femtosecond laser pulses has been analysed. Three-dimensional modelling was performed to look into the details of laser pulse propagation, harmonic generation and attosecond pulse characteristics. The theoretical analysis and the comparison to the experimental results showed emitted harmonics form a bright attosecond pulse train with good synchronization in time. In the space domain the synchronization is especially good in the self-guided region.</P>
Spectral response of chirp-dependent femtosecond laser filamentation in air

Filamentation is a nonlinear optical phenomenon that involves the interplay between Kerr lens self-focusing and plasma defocusing, holding promise for practical applications in open-air environments over long distances. This process signifcantly alters the characteristics of laser pulses, making the control of laser properties a pivotal issue. In this study, we investigated the efects of laser energy and chirp on the spectral modulation of femtosecond laser pulses caused by flamentation in air. Negatively and positively chirped pulses exhibit distinct characteristics in the spectra measured after the flamentation. Negatively chirped pulses have broader spectral broadening and a stronger dependence on initial laser energy than positively chirped pulses, making them suitable for generating few-cycle pulses and applications requiring white light. In contrast, positively chirped pulses can be advantageous for applications requiring long-distance transmission of high-energy laser pulse. Our fndings reveal the fundamental characteristics of femtosecond laser flamentation in air, thereby expanding the scope of possible atmospheric applications.

PURPOSE. The aim of this study was to introduce rating criteria to evaluate student performance in a newly developed, digital wax-up preclinical program for computer-aided design (CAD) of full-coverage crowns and preliminarily investigate the reliability and internal consistency of the rating system. MATERIALS AND METHODS. This study, conducted in 2017, enrolled 47 fifth-year dental students of Okayama University Dental School. Digital wax-up training included a fundamental practice using computer graphics (CG), multipurpose CAD software programs, and an advanced practice to execute a digital waxup of the right mandibular second molar (#47). Each student’s digital wax-up work (stereolithography data) was evaluated by two instructors using seven qualitative criteria. The total qualitative score (0-90) of the criteria was calculated. The total volumetric discrepancy between each student’s digital wax-up work and a reference prepared by an instructor was automatically measured by the CAD software. The inter-rater reliability of each criterion was analyzed using a weighted kappa index. The relationship between the total volume discrepancy and the total qualitative score was analyzed using Spearman’s correlation. RESULTS. The weighted kappa values for the seven qualitative criteria ranged from 0.62 - 0.93. The total qualitative score and the total volumetric discrepancy were negatively correlated (ρ = -0.27, P = .09, respectively); however, this was not statistically significant. CONCLUSION. The established qualitative criteria to evaluate students’ work showed sufficiently high inter-rater reliability; however, the digitally measured volumetric discrepancy could not sufficiently predict the total qualitative score.
