The Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare in Japan has formed a scientific research study group to clarify factors inhibiting social participation of persons with intellectual disabilities. We conducted the survey with the aim of identifying the causes preventing such participation. They were rated using the common international language in the International Classification of Functioning, Disability and Health(ICF). Surveys were sent to the director of career guidance counseling in the high school sections of 451 special needs high schools nationwide, and valid responses were received from 227. Each school was asked to recall one graduate each randomly from among those employed or residing in institutions, and rate them on each of the ICF levels. The factors producing differences in the career path treatments for employment and institutional residence were then analyzed. The employed group of graduates had a mean score of no higher than 2 for any item evaluated by the ICF criteria.

Objectives of this study is to explore factors impacting their pain and discomfort, and to advocate seating ergonomics in public. We set up a seating clinic booth and conducted survey among wheelchair users at Barrie Free 2010 Trade Show held at Intec Osaka from April 15th to April 17th 2010.Weanalyzedtheseated posture using software "Rysis", which designed based on ISO 16840-1. Results showed pelvis and trunk asymmetry, joystick controller side, and neck pain made impact on their seated posture. With this clinical consultation process of this work, users can satisfy their interest in objective findings of their seated posture, and experience the importance of ergonomic seating.

Welding technology has been developed to improve welding quality. Especially, plasma arc welding has been used for a wide range of areas. However, welding defects occur because of inappropriate arc conditions and lack of arc control with metal vapor contamination in the arc column and anode root. The metal vapor contamination from the anode is varied by the electrical conductivity of the arc in high-temperature medium. The arc emits intense radiation. In this paper, the temperature distribution of the plasma arc contaminated with iron vapor from the anode under consideration of self-absorption was elucidated to develop the plasma arc welding technology and avoid the welding defect. Electromagnetohydrodynamic (MHD) simulation is used to calculate the temperature. Results show that the temperature distribution was varied under consideration of self-absorption because of the iron vapor distribution, and because ionized argon exists near the cathode.

<P>In order to enhance the beam efficiency of the J-PARC main ring, installation of a new ring is being considered. The new ring, which can accommodate up to 30-GeV proton beam, enables to operate the fast and slow extractions simultaneously with the maximum throughput. Use of superconducting transmission line magnets is proposed as bending magnets for the new ring. Design study of the magnets has started. This paper reports on the brief concept of the new ring, requirements to the magnets, and the status of the design study.</P>
