      • Fermi surface reconstruction and multiple quantum phase transitions in the antiferromagnet CeRhIn5

        Jiao, Lin,Chen, Ye,Kohama, Yoshimitsu,Graf, David,Bauer, E. D.,Singleton, John,Zhu, Jian-Xin,Weng, Zongfa,Pang, Guiming,Shang, Tian,Zhang, Jinglei,Lee, Han-Oh,Park, Tuson,Jaime, Marcelo,Thompson, J. D National Academy of Sciences 2015 PROCEEDINGS OF THE NATIONAL ACADEMY OF SCIENCES OF Vol.112 No.3

<P><B>Significance</B></P><P>Conventional, thermally driven continuous phase transitions are described by universal critical behavior that is independent of microscopic details of a specific material. An analogous description is lacking for phase transitions that are driven at absolute zero temperature by a nonthermal control parameter. Classification of quantum-driven phase transitions is a fundamental but open problem that arises in diverse contexts and multiple classes of materials. Here we report the first observation, to our knowledge, of a sharp Fermi surface reconstruction while applying a strong magnetic field to suppress an antiferromagnetic transition to zero temperature. These experiments demonstrate that direct measurements of the Fermi surface can distinguish theoretically proposed models of quantum criticality and point to a universal description of quantum phase transitions.</P><P>Conventional, thermally driven continuous phase transitions are described by universal critical behavior that is independent of the specific microscopic details of a material. However, many current studies focus on materials that exhibit quantum-driven continuous phase transitions (quantum critical points, or QCPs) at absolute zero temperature. The classification of such QCPs and the question of whether they show universal behavior remain open issues. Here we report measurements of heat capacity and de Haas–van Alphen (dHvA) oscillations at low temperatures across a field-induced antiferromagnetic QCP (<I>B</I>c0 ≈ 50 T) in the heavy-fermion metal CeRhIn5. A sharp, magnetic-field-induced change in Fermi surface is detected both in the dHvA effect and Hall resistivity at [Formula] ≈ 30 T, well inside the antiferromagnetic phase. Comparisons with band-structure calculations and properties of isostructural CeCoIn5 suggest that the Fermi-surface change at [Formula] is associated with a localized-to-itinerant transition of the Ce-4<I>f</I> electrons in CeRhIn5. Taken in conjunction with pressure experiments, our results demonstrate that at least two distinct classes of QCP are observable in CeRhIn5, a significant step toward the derivation of a universal phase diagram for QCPs.</P>

Expression of proline-rich protein 15 in breast cancer and its effect on cell biological function

        Jiao Tian,Yingzi Zhang,Chi Qu,Han Li,Shengchun Liu 한국고분자학회 2023 Macromolecular Research Vol.31 No.12

PRR15, a member of the proline-rich protein family, has been linked to a better prognosis in breast cancer patients and is highly expressed in a variety of cancer tissues. However, further research must be done on its biological role in breast cancer and its expression. The purpose of this work is to investigate the role of PRR15 in the proliferation, migration, and apoptosis of breast cancer cells as well as to confirm the differential expression of PRR15 in various subtypes of breast cancer tissues and cells. To analyse the differential expression of PRR15 in paracancerous tissues and various types of breast cancer tissues, GEPIA, Kaplan–Meier plotter, GEO, TCGA, and other bioinformatics websites and public databases were used. PRR15 expression in breast cancer tissue was significantly higher than that in normal breast tissue, and PRR15 expression in ER + breast cancer was significantly higher than that in ER- breast cancer. The results were confirmed by RT-PCR, Western Using molecular cloning, plasmids were created to produce cells that over express PRR15. Experiments on how cells behave showed that PRR15 overexpression had no impact on the growth, migration, or death of ER+ and ER− breast cancer cells when compared to control cells. Furthermore, the biological behavior of ER + breast cancer cells was unaffected by PRR15 knockdown.

Study on the Wind-induced Interference Effect of a Large-span Roof Structure Building Group

        Yong Hao,Tian-jiao Han,Hang-fei Wu,Hua-hai Dong,Yin Zhou,Chun-hui Du,Yun-hui Han 대한토목학회 2024 KSCE Journal of Civil Engineering Vol.28 No.4

The wind-induced interference effects existing during the construction of a building group were studied in the context of the Zhangjiakou Olympic Sports Center project. Based on CFD numerical simulations, 120 and 96 different working conditions during construction of a swimming pool and speed skating hall were simulated and analyzed respectively, and the numerical simulation results were found to be in high agreement with the wind tunnel test results, which verified the accuracy and feasibility of the numerical simulation. By comparing the wind-induced interference effects of the surrounding buildings on the swimming pool and the speed skating hall during different construction periods, it was found that the swimming pool was more affected by the interference of the surrounding buildings than the speed skating hall, and the wall area was more affected by the interference than the roof area. The wind-induced response of the swimming pool structure during different construction periods was analyzed, and it was found that the interference effect under some working conditions had a greater impact on the structural stress, and it was suggested that the wind interference effect brought about by the construction of the building should not be ignored in such projects.

        Hong-Jie, Liu,Zhi-Jian, Zheng,Yu-Qiu, Gu,Bao-Han, Zhang,Yong-Joo, Rhee,Sung-Mo, Nam,Jae-Min, Han,Yong-Woo, Rhee,Kwon-Hae, Yea,Jia-Bin, Chen,Hong-Bin, Wang,Chun-Ye, Jiao,Ying-Ling, He,Tian-Shu, Wen,Xia ALLERTON PRESS INC 2007 CHINESE PHYSICS LETTERS Vol.24 No.2

<P>Neutrons (2.45 MeV) from deuterium cluster fusion induced by the intense femtosecond (30 fs) laser pulse are experimentally demonstrated. The average neutron yield 103 per shot is obtained. It is found that the yield slightly increases with the increasing laser spot size. No neutron can be observed when the laser intensity I < 4.3×1015 W/cm2.</P>
