Perception of Organizational Support to Lecturers' Research Motivation: The Case of Vietnam
NGUYEN, Thanh Do,BUI, Thi Hong Viet,NGUYEN, Thi Le Thuy,TRAN, Manh Dung,TRAN, Thi Kim Nhung Korea Distribution Science Association 2021 The Journal of Asian Finance, Economics and Busine Vol.8 No.2
The aim of this study is to test the direct relationship and the indirect relationship of the perceived organizational support to lecturers' research motivation through "expectation" factor (belief in ability). The subject of the study is lecturers who are teaching and researching in the fields of economic, management and business administration at universities in Vietnam. The questionnaires were directly sent to lecturers at scientific conferences, sent out via e-mail and Facebook, the questionnaires were designed on google docs and directly sent to the lecturers. The detailed sample includes 475 respondents. The results of a quantitative analysis with a research sample of 475 lecturers in economics universities in Vietnam show that it is impossible to separate between lecturers' research ability and motivation. Lecturers with increased expectation (in terms of capability) also have increased research motivation, and vice versa. At the same time, the research also affirms the role of perceived organizational support, which not only has a direct positive impact on research motivation, but also increases expectation, thus, indirectly influence research motivation. This suggests that the solution for managers who want to improve research motivation by having measures to increase the expectation for the lecturers through various forms of organizational support.

Platinum(IV) was extracted from chloride solution using kerosene solution of trioctyl ammonium chloride, methyltrioctylammonium chloride, and tetraoctyl ammonium chloride ionic liquids as solvents in high yields. To increase the Pt(IV) recovery and heterogenize the process for easy handling at industrial scale, these three ionic liquids were directly impregnated on some solid carriers, such as silica gel-60, silica gel-100, Amberlite XAD-7 ion-exchange resin, and Amberlite XAD-7 ion-exchange resin to form sorbents in nature of supported ionic liquid phase. The influence of some factors, such as ionic liquid and solid carrier structure, IL/Pt molar ratio, and ionic liquid loading as well as sorption isotherms, was investigated. The stripping and desorption of Pt(IV) using different eluents and reusability of ionic liquids and supported ionic liquid phases were also evaluated.
Determinants Influencing Tax Compliance: The Case of Vietnam
NGUYEN, Thi Thuy Du'o'ng,PHAM, Thi My Linh,LE, Thanh Tam,TRUONG, Thi Hoai Linh,TRAN, Manh Dung Korea Distribution Science Association 2020 The Journal of Asian Finance, Economics and Busine Vol.7 No.2
The purpose of this paper is to ascertain the key factors affecting tax compliance among Vietnamese firms in Vietnam. We employ both qualitative and quantitative research methods. Qualitative research has been carried out through focus group discussions with ten chief accountants and tax officers. Quantitative research has been conducted through interviews with 200 firms (chief accountants or financial directors) in Vietnam. Analysis of the model includes the following stages: (i) Cronbach's test for reliability of the scale, (ii) exploratory factor analysis (EFA), (iii) confirmatory factor analysis (CFA), and (iv) structural equation model (SEM). The results of the research show that voluntary tax compliance is directly affected by the three factors of audit probability, corporate reputation and business ownership. The probability of audit and severity of sanctions have the strongest impact on tax compliance. Therefore, the tax authorities need to strengthen the inspection of tax declarations, tax payments and tax refunds of firms. The paper confirms that enforced tax compliance is directly affected by the three factors of audit probability, sanction severity and social norms. Voluntary compliance and compulsory compliance have an effect on tax compliance, though voluntary compliance has a more powerful impact.
Determinants Influencing Entrepreneurial Intention among Undergraduates in Universities of Vietnam
BUI, Thi Hong Viet,NGUYEN, Thi Le Thuy,TRAN, Manh Dung,NGUYEN, Thi Anh Thu Korea Distribution Science Association 2020 The Journal of Asian Finance, Economics and Busine Vol.7 No.7
The paper aims to identify the determinants that influence entrepreneurial intention among National Economics University graduates. For the sample size, we conducted a questionnaire survey of 250 full-time third-year undergraduates at the National Economics University, with convenience sampling technique. Of those 250 undergraduates, 150 were Business Administration students and 100 Economy Management students. After eliminating invalid responses due to lack of information or low quality information, 215 responses were used (93.07% of respondents) for data analysis. The results show that the factor "Perceived desirability" has the strongest impact on the intention to start a business. It is followed by the factor "Perceived feasibility" in which the "ability to search and plan for start-up" has a stronger influence on undergraduates' entrepreneurial intention than the "leadership and ability to overcome adversity". The hypothesis of a positive relationship between undergraduates' propensity to act and their intention to start a business is also supported in this study. Based on the results, we suggest some recommendations for the university and State management agencies to nurture and develop entrepreneurial intention of undergraduates, forming the young generation of potential entrepreneurs to contribute to the development of emerging countries such as Vietnam, the case study.
Export Persistence and Productivity in Vietnam: Who Learns?
Dang Thi Kim Dung,Nguyen Van Bao,Phan Thi Song Thuong,Ho Thi Kim Thuy 세종대학교 경제통합연구소 2024 Journal of Economic Integration Vol.39 No.3
The purpose of this study is to investigate the causal relationship between firms' export activities and their productivity, with a specific focus on identifying the source of productivity improvement by examining the persistence of export operations. Leveraging firm-level panel data from 2010 to 2015 in Vietnam, we employed a combination of Propensity Score Matching and Staggered Difference-in-Differences. Our findings indicate that the phenomenon of learning by exporting is evident across both consistent and intermittent exporters. For manufacturing enterprises, our analysis reveals no substantial variance in the learning by exporting effect between the steady and sporadic exporters. In contrast, within the service sector, we discern that intermittent exporters experience a more pronounced enhancement in labor productivity compared to their consistent exporting counterparts. Upon delving deeper into industry analysis, it becomes evident that the manufacturing and wholesale/retail trade sectors are the ones benefiting most from export activities. An interesting observation is that, within the manufacturing sector, we only find a positive impact on labor productivity with continuously exporting firms. This disparity implies that the mechanisms through which the learning-by-exporting effect operates may diverge between the manufacturing and service sectors. Furthermore, our empirical evidence reveals a direct positive correlation between export status and firm performance within privately owned enterprises. However, such a relationship was not evident for state-owned enterprises. To capitalize on the potential of export-driven growth, policymakers should adopt a nuanced approach, tailored to the unique dynamics of different industries and ownership structures. This underscores the importance of sector-specific support mechanisms, capacity-building initiatives for state-owned enterprises, and targeted export literacy programs for enterprises in fostering a conducive environment for sustainable economic growth in the Vietnamese context.

The study aims to review existing literature and studies on risk preferences of Sustainable Land Management (hereinafter SLM). In addition, this paper explores the determinants that affect farmers decisions on the implementation of SLM. The risk preference is a decisive influencing element of the SLM. By reviewing 54 research studies, the paper has synthesized the concepts of risk preferences, SLM and components, and risk preferences that influence the adoption of SLM through systematic and integrative review methodologies. Many studies have examined the elements of SLM and risk preferences that affect the adoption of SLM. Almost all studies focused solely on household characteristics such as the socio-demographic characteristics of farmers, farm-related features, farm management practices, and institutional characteristics as the critical aspects of SLM adoption. In contrast, few studies discussed risk preferences as the essential part of SLM adoption. The result indicated that risk preferences were omitted, and we suggest that the risk preferences should be added to the SLM adoption studies to understand farm household behavior. Our paper seeks to reduce the risk exposure by increasing the rate of technology adoption and application of SLM practices.

In Vietnam nowadays, fresh tea has really become one of major trees for poverty alleviation and livelihood improvement for many households. Especially Phu Tho is one of the provinces having the largest and highest yield of fresh tea in Vietnam. However, the income from tea production is so low. One of the main reasons is due to the ineffectiveness of fresh tea materials’ management. The production of tea in the province is rather complex due to the diversity of tea cultivators and raw tea material producers, including farm workers, cooperative farmers and other farmers’ groups. The managers of some factories do not pay enough attention to certify tea materials due to purchasing fresh tea material from the traders or collectors without input quality control. Moreover, the production plan did not reflect the actual yield of the tea plantation. The conflicts for buying raw materials and selling products have occurred frequently in recent years. This research examined “Management of fresh tea collection at a tea manufacturing company in Phu Tho Province, Vietnam” and has established the importance of management of tea material collection at tea companies now, especially, the cooperation between enterprises and tea farmers in the management of procurement. The output of one-way ANOVA indicates that average income of farm workers is different from cooperative farmers and other farmer groups. Besides, the binary logistic model could provide a more insightful understanding on the farmers’ willingness to participate in the cooperation with tea companies. The thesis also found out that age, the distance from household’s tea plots to collection area and the production capital of households have positive effects on the interest of the cooperation, while the household income per month negatively impacted on the desire to join the cooperation with tea manufacturers. The study also suggests applications of more scientific management to guarantee high quality and to retain standard tea levels that ensure food safety, such as; developing the structure of new varieties; improving the harvest process and ensuring the quantity supplied is constant in order to strengthen tea production enterprises.
Tien-Dung Chu,Thi-Thuy-Phuong Doan,Duy-Truong Quach,Xuan-Tuyen Nguyen,Tuan-Son Nguyen,Duc-Thang Pham,Dong-Hyun Kim 한국자기학회 2020 Journal of Magnetics Vol.25 No.1
In this research, a simple method has been presented to synthesize the magnetic - semiconductor Fe₃O₄/TiO₂ heterostructure nanocomposites via three steps: firstly, synthesis of Fe₃O₄ nanoparticles by co-precipitation method; thereafter, formation of Fe₃O₄/TiO₂ composites by sol-gel method; finally, annealing to form Fe₃O₄/TiO₂ anatase (denoted as Fe₃O₄/TiO₂-A) and Fe₃O₄/TiO₂ rutile (denoted as Fe₃O₄/TiO₂-R) heterostructure nanocomposites, respectively. The results of X-ray diffraction, transmission electron microscopy, and energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy show that the Fe₃O₄/TiO₂-A and Fe₃O₄/TiO₂-R heterostructure nanocomposite samples contain both magnetite (Fe₃O₄) and semiconductor TiO₂ (anatase or rutile phase, respectively). The asprepared nanocomposite samples exhibit superparamagnetic properties at room temperature with high saturation magnetization (Ms) above 19.5 emu/g at the applied magnetic field of 11 kOe. Moreover, the Fe₃O₄/TiO₂-A and Fe₃O₄/TiO₂-R heterostructure nanocomposites with a low band gap energy of 2.89 eV and 2.81 eV, respectively, are promising to enhance the performance of photocatalytic activities in the visible light region for application in wastewater treatment.
Social Capital and Migration: A Case Study of Rural Vietnam
Hong Thu NGUYEN,My Kim LE,Thi Thuy Dung NGUYEN,Vu Phuong Linh DAO,Ngoc Tien NGUYEN 한국유통과학회 2022 The Journal of Asian Finance, Economics and Busine Vol.9 No.1
To investigate the short-run effects of social capital on migration decisions of individuals in the rural areas of Vietnam, we conducted dataset mining and performed regression model analysis in the form of panel data. As control variables, we employed the variable of social capital, which is measured by an individual’s network, as well as demographic characteristics of individuals and households. We discovered that when a household is in financial distress, social networks such as linkages or asking for aid from others often enhance individual capacity. Individuals with a large social network outside of their immediate area are more inclined to relocate to the location where their connectors live. Individual participation and degree of participation in the organizational community, on the other hand, have little bearing on the likelihood of migration. In addition, this research examines theories and empirical research on the relationship between social capital and migration. Based on our research findings, we have recommended some measures to boost the efficiency of social capital and migration in rural areas of Vietnam through local government solutions.
Talent Conceptualization and Talent Management Approaches in the Vietnamese Banking Sector
DANG, Nhan Truong Thanh,NGUYEN, Quynh Thi,HABARADAS, Raymund,HA, Van Dung,NGUYEN, Van Thuy Korea Distribution Science Association 2020 The Journal of Asian Finance, Economics and Busine Vol.7 No.7
The research postulates the conceptualization of talent in the Vietnamese banking sector via examining the factors pertaining to the concept of talent and talent management (TM) in the sector. This study applied qualitative research methods. A total of 20 managers and directors of ten banks (three public, four private and three foreign banks) were recruited for semi-structured interviews. The findings revealed that a combination of interconnected soft skills, learning ability, flexibility, technology adaptability, integrity and risk management skills contributes to talent identification. Managers in some private banks construed talent to be commensurate with high performance and high potential, whereas managers in public banks and foreign banks mainly relied on performance results in talent recognition. Moreover, talented employees holding sales-related jobs are given the most attention by management in the studied banks. Regarding practical implications, the banking community and practitioners' focus should be imparted to soft skills development and integrity control in order to foster employee performance and attitudes. Attention should be paid not only to sales positions, but also to other positions within the bank. This study is one of a few which explores talent concepts and TM approaches in the banking sector in general and Vietnamese banking field in particular.
