Aims and Background: Human leukocyte antigen-G and interleukin-2 receptor play pivotal roles in the proliferation of lymphocytes, and thus generation of immune responses. Their overexpression has been evidenced in different malignant hematopoietic diseases. This study aimed to validate serum soluble human leukocyte antigen-G (sHLA-G) and serum soluble interleukin-2 receptor (sIL-2R) as an additional tool for the diagnosis and follow up of acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL). Subjects and Methods: Both markers were determined by ELISA in the serum of 33 ALL pediatric patients before treatment and after intensification phase of chemotherapy as well as in the serum of 14 healthy donors that were selected as a control group. Results: ALL patients showed abnormal CBC and high serum lactate dehydrogenase, which were improved after chemotherapy. Also, there was a non-significant increase in serum sHLA-G in ALL patients compared with the control group. However, after chemotherapy, sHLA-G was increased significantly compared with before treatment. On the other hand, serum sIL-2R in ALL patients was increased significantly compared with the control group. After chemotherapy, sIL-2R decreased significantly compared with before treatment. Conclusions: From these results it could be suggested that measurement of serum sHLA-G might be helpful in diagnosis of ALL, while sIL-2R might be useful in diagnosis and follow-up of ALL in pediatric patients.

This paper presents the work carried out to develop the Wave Hub project off the coast of southwest of the UK, which represents the world’s first large-scale waveenergy farm. Four companies have been chosen to deploy their own particular wave-energy converters. These include the Pelamis, the Overtopping Device, the Multiple Point Absorber System, and the Oscillating Water Column. The work focuses on integrating offshore wave energy plant into the UK electrical grid and finds the optimum configuration for grid ?integration of multiple WEC devices. It discusses how to mitigate the grid integration challenges associated with 16㎿ commercial implementation of offshore wave energy technologies in terms of voltage and reactive power control and investigates their impact on electrical networks.

Using disperse dyes of different colors and hues to produce a variety of shades is necessary for the industrializationof supercritical fluid dyeing of polypropylene. Eight derivatives of 3-(3-chlorophenyl)-1-phenyl-4-(diazenyl derivatives)-1Hpyrazol-5-amine dye were synthesized explicitly for use in supercritical carbon dioxide medium. Polypropylene dyeing wasstudied in supercritical carbon dioxide under varying conditions: Dyeing temperatures ranged from 100 °C to 120 °C, dyingtimes ranged from 1 h to 2 h, concentrations ranged from 2 % owf (on the weight of fabric) to 4 %, and pressures ranged from15 to 25 MPa. Significant improvement of the colorfastness to washing and rubbing was observed. Raman spectroscopy wasperformed and showed conclusively that the dye was absorbed within all layers of polypropylene. This study achieved theelimination of water and its costly processing in the dyeing of synthetic fabrics.
On the Effects of Asset Purchase Programs on Emerging Stock Markets
Tarek Chebbi 한국국제경제학회 2019 International Economic Journal Vol.33 No.3
It is well documented that there has been a relationship between stock markets and unconventional monetary policies. However, most research concentrates on developed economies and analyzes the effects of shocks from such polices on stock prices. This paper is different from this research in that we investigate the impact of surprises from the Fed’s and the ECB’s announcements on the stock returns and volatility in Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries using GARCH models.Wefind that a positive surprise associated with a fall in the U.S. Treasury yield causes an increase in ADX returns. We show significant effects of the ECB’s shocks on price returns. In particular, announcement that induces a decline in yield spreads in Italian sovereign bonds leads to higher stock prices. We also document a significant impact of surprises both by the Fed and ECB on volatility. However, the estimates are mixed. We note that volatility went down in response to the ECB’s policies, while they increased after the Fed’s asset purchases. Finally, when we distinguish surprises by their sign, the GJR-GARCH model estimates indicate that the effect on the volatility which is, perhaps surprisingly, symmetric for both types of news.

In this paper, a PI controlled feedback closed-loop voltage regulation scheme of the three-phase squirrel cage rotor self-excited induction generator (SEIG) driven by a variable-speed prime mover (YSPM) such as a wmd turbme is designed on the basis of the static V AR compensator (SYC) and discussed in experiment for the promising stand-alone power independent conditioner The simulation and experimental results of the three-phase SEIG with the simple SVC controller for its stabilized voltage regulation prove the practical effectiveness of the additional SVC control loop scheme including the PI controller with fast response characteristics and steady-sate performance improvements<br/>
DC Power Utilizations of Self-Excited Induction Generator with Static VAR Compensator
Tarek Ahmed,Katsumi Nishida,Mutsuo Nakaoka 전력전자학회 2004 ICPE(ISPE)논문집 Vol.- No.-
In this paper, a three-phase self-excited Induction generator(SEIG)-based wind power generation scheme is proposed. This clean power scheme uses a low-cost three-phase diode bridge rectifier connected to the three-phase SEIG to transfer a dc power with the DC voltage regulation. The excitation to the three-phase SEIG is implemented by the static VAR compensator (SVC) composed of the fixed excitation capacitor and the thyristor-controlled reactor. The SVC is used to regulate smoothly the DC load voltage of the three-phase diode bridge rectifier circuit connected to its terminals. This simple method for controlling the reactive power of the SVC is useful for wind turbines installed at high wind speed sites, which are remote or have only weak electrical power networks. The dynamic performance responses and the experimental results of a 5-kW 220-V three-phase SEIG directly connected to a<br/> three-phase diode bridge rectifier at various DC outputs are presented. Moreover, the experimental results of the PI closed-loop feedback voltage regulation scheme-based the SVC prove the practical effectiveness of this simple method for a wind turbine system. This proposed power conditioner with simple control technique, provides a cost-effective method of improving the power quality of wind farms.

In this paper, the single-phase static VAR compensator (SVC) is applied to regulate and stabilize the generated terminal voltage of the single-phase self-excited induction generator (single-phase SEIG) driven by a variable-speed prime mover (VSPM) under the conditions of the independent inductive load variations and the prime mover speed changes The conventional fixed gain PI controller-based feedback control scheme is employed to adjust the equivalent capacitance of the single-phase SVC composed of the fixed excitation capacitor FC in parallel with the thyristor switched capacitor TSC and the thyristor controlled reactor TCR The feedback closed-loop terminal voltage responses in the single-phase SEIG coupled by a VSPM with different inductive passive load disturbances using the single-phase SVC with the PI controller are considered and discussed herem. A VSPM coupled the single-phase SEIG prototype setup is established. Its experimental results are illustrated as compared with its simulation ones and give good agreements with the digital simulation results for the single-phase SEIG driven by a VSPM, which is based on the SVC voltage regulation feedback control scheme.

Background A variety of island flaps can be based on the superficial temporal artery with variable tissue composition. They can be used for defect reconstruction, cavity resurfacing, facial hair restoration, or contracture release. Methods Seventy-two patients underwent facial reconstruction using a superficial temporal artery island flap from October 2010 to October 2014. The defects had various etiologies, including trauma, burns, tumors, exposed hardware, and congenital causes. We classified the patients by indication into 5 groups: cavity resurfacing, contracture release, facial hair restoration, skin coverage, and combined. The demographic data of the patients, defect characteristics, operative procedures, postoperative results, and complications were retrospectively documented. The follow-up period ranged from 24 to 54 months. Results A total of 24 females and 48 males were included in this study. The mean age of the patients was 33.7±15.6 years. The flaps were used for contracture release in 13 cases, cavity resurfacing in 10 cases, skin coverage in 17 cases, facial hair restoration in 19 cases, and combined defects in 13 cases. No major complications were reported. Conclusions Based on our experiences with the use of superficial temporal artery island flaps, we have developed a detailed approach for the optimal management of patients with composite facial defects. The aim of this article is to provide the reader with a systematic algorithm to use for such patients.
