고대 그리스의 철학자에 의하여 변론술의 한 요소로 간주되었던 은유는 그 뒤 철학으로부터 독립한 수사학 속에서 취급되어 왔다. 그러나 이「수사학」은, 프랑스에서는 19세기 중엽 무렵 중등교육의 필수과목으로부터 제외되었다. 현대에 이르러 은유는 일상 회화 속에서도 사용되는 일이적어졌지만, 다른 한편 철학자, 정신분석가 등은 상상력, 환상에 있어서의 은유의 기능에 강한 관심을 표명하고 있다. 아리스토텔레스는 『변론술』에서 은유에 존재론적인 진리를 보여주는 힘이 있다고 인정하였는데, 현대의 철학자들은 존재에 대한 사고와 은유와의 관계를 어떻게 파악하고 있는가? 본고에서는 자크 데리다가 1971년에 발표한 논문 「하얀 신화」에 있어서의 은유와 그 철학 개념과의 관계를 뒤돌아보고, 폴 리쾨르가 『살아있는 은유』(1975)에서 전개한 그 비판적 독해를 검토한다. 은유가 사변적 언술에 가져오는 창조성을 평가하는 리쾨르는, “은유는 형이상학의 내부에만 존재한다”고 하는 마르틴 하이데거의 사고를 이어받는 것으로서데리다의 사상을 해석하고, ‘은유의 마멸’의 지적을 통하여 형이상학을 뛰어넘는 것의 유효성에 대하여 강하게 의문시한다. 데리다는 1978년에「은유의 물러서기」라는 제목의 강연을 하여, 리쾨르의 비판이 오해에 근거한 것이라고 하였으며, ‘형이상학의 종결’이라는 하이데거적인 전제의 탈구축적 독해를 시도하였다. 하이데거가 주장하는 ‘존재의 물러서기’가, 존재의 사고와 구별된 형이상학의 종결을 의미한다면, 형이상학으로부터의물러서기는 ‘존재의 물러서기의(로부터의)물러서기=은유의 물러서기’에다름 아니며, 형이상학의 내부에서 작동하는 고유한 의미/비유적 의미의대립의 저쪽으로 물러나는 것이라고 간주된다. 즉, ‘은유의 물러서기’로서의 존재의 사고는, 은유적이지도 본래적이지도 않은 ‘전의[轉義]’, ‘물러서기’라는 차이화의 운동으로서만 계속 작용하는 것이 아닌가라고 질문하게된다. 본고는 이와 같은 논쟁의 과정을 더듬어가며, ‘죽은 은유’의 유효성에 관련해서는 데리다의 논고에 대하여 오해를 내포하고 있었던 리쾨르의 비판이, 데리다로 하여금 하이데거의 철학과 대치하도록 인도한 것이아닌가라고 분석한다.

Isolated right ventricular (RV) hypoplasia is a rare congenital anomaly in which the apical trabecular component of the ventricle fails to develop. In severe forms of isolated RV hypoplasia, patients usually develop cyanosis early in life and require prompt surgical intervention. Mild forms, however, can be asymptomatic until the development of severe tricuspid regurgitation due to annular dilatation. We report a 50-year-old woman with isolated RV apical hypoplasia who presented to our hospital 18 years ago and was followed with serial imaging studies.

The low-temperature polycrystalline silicon (poly-Si) thin film transistor (LTPS-TFT) flash memory is a potential candidate as a key component of the system on panel (SOP). We have proposed the “bio-nano-process” for the fabrication of nanodots by using biotechnology. In this study, we have successfully fabricated and developed a LTPS-TFT flash memory with biomineralized inorganic nanodots for the first time. High-density homogeneous nanodots were made to adsorb on a silicon film by using ferritin protein without the use of vacuum systems at high temperature. Electron charging and discharging in the dots were clearly confirmed from the transient behavior of the transfer curve at room temperature. This fabrication technique is promising for the development of a flash memory for a SOP.

Purpose: Quantitative elastography methods, such as ultrasound two-dimensional shear-wave elastography (2D-SWE) and magnetic resonance elastography (MRE), are used to diagnose liver fibrosis. The present study compared liver stiffness determined by 2D-SWE and MRE within individuals and analyzed the degree of agreement between the two techniques. Methods: In total, 888 patients who underwent 2D-SWE and MRE were analyzed. Bland-Altman analysis was performed after both types of measurements were log-transformed to a normal distribution and converted to a common set of units using linear regression analysis for differing scales. The expected limit of agreement (LoA) was defined as the square root of the sum of the squares of 2D-SWE and MRE precision. The percentage difference was expressed as (2D-SWEMRE)/ mean of the two methods×100. Results: A Bland-Altman plot showed that the bias and upper and lower LoAs (ULoA and LLoA) were 0.0002 (95% confidence interval [CI], -0.0057 to 0.0061), 0.1747 (95% CI, 0.1646 to 0.1847), and -0.1743 (95% CI, -0.1843 to -0.1642), respectively. In terms of percentage difference, the mean, ULoA, and LLoA were -0.5944%, 19.8950%, and -21.0838%, respectively. The calculated expected LoA was 17.1178% (95% CI, 16.6353% to 17.6002%), and 789 of 888 patients (88.9%) had a percentage difference within the expected LoA. The intraclass correlation coefficient of the two methods indicated an almost perfect correlation (0.8231; 95% CI, 0.8006 to 0.8432; P<0.001). Conclusion: Bland-Altman analysis demonstrated that 2D-SWE and MRE were interchangeable within a clinically acceptable range.
Inhibition of plasminogen activator inhibitor-1 attenuates against intestinal fibrosis in mice

Background/Aims: Intestinal fibrosis is a major complication of Crohn’s disease (CD). The profibrotic protein transforming growth factor-β (TGF-β) has been considered to be critical for the induction of the fibrotic program. TGF-β has the ability to induce not only the expression of extracellular matrix (ECM) including collagen, but also the production of plasminogen activator inhibitor-1 (PAI-1) that prevents enzymatic degradation of the ECM during the onset of fibrotic diseases. However, the significance of PAI-1 in the developing intestinal fibrosis has not been fully understood. In the present study, we examined the actual expression of PAI-1 in fibrotic legion of intestinal inflammation and its correlation with the abnormal ECM deposition. Methods: Chronic intestinal inflammation was induced in BALB/c mice using 8 repeated intrarectal injections of 2,4,6-trinitrobenzene sulfonic acid (TNBS). TM5275, a PAI-1 inhibitor, was orally administered as a carboxymethyl cellulose suspension each day for 2 weeks after the sixth TNBS injection. Results: Using a publicly available dataset (accession number, GSE75214) and TNBS-treated mice, we observed increases in PAI-1 transcripts at active fibrotic lesions in both patients with CD and mice with chronic intestinal inflammation. Oral administration of TM5275 immediately after the onset of intestinal fibrosis upregulated MMP-9 (matrix metalloproteinase 9) and decreased collagen accumulation, resulting in attenuation of the fibrogenesis in TNBS-treated mice. Conclusions: PAI-1-mediated fibrinolytic system facilitates collagen degradation suppression. Hence, PAI-1 inhibitor could be applied as an anti-fibrotic drug in CD treatment. NEAR-INFRARED WIDE-FIELD IMAGING CAMERA WITH PtSi 1040 $\times$ 1040 CSD

We have constructed a near-infrared imaging camera which is attached to the prime focus of 105cm Schmidt telescope at Kiso Observatory. The camera is equipped with a 1040$\times$1040 PtSi CSD array developed by Mitsubishi Electric Co. The combination of Kiso Schmidt and the array gives a wide field of view of 18.4'$\times$18.4' with a reasonable spatial resolution of 1.06' /pixel. The system performances of the camera have been evaluated through laboratory and observational tests. Low noise, good cosmetics(no defect pixels), and good stability of the camera system show an excellent performance for astronomical use.

There is a demand of mining automation by heavy equipment in an open mine. Authors aim to automization of motion for wheel loader in scooping and loading operation. In this paper, we applied the optimization method by Genetic Algorithm to the path planning for the wheel loader on scooping and loading operation. We showed the quasi-optimized path and demonstrated by the miniature wheel loader robot.
MULTI-COLOR PHOTOMETRY OF NEARBY GALAXIES

We have started multi-color imaging program of nearby galaxies since last year and present preliminary result here. We selected 12 nearby galaxies classfied from E to Sab type and observed in BVRIJHK' bands. Photomtric parameters such as isophotal diameter, axial ratio, isophotal magnitude were measured and observed colors were compared with theoritical model. We find a standard evolution model agrees well with observed results.
