This paper describes the flow field and the blade pressure distribution of a horizontal axis wind turbine in various yawed flow conditions. These measurements were carried out with 2.4m-diameter rotor with pressure sensors and a 2-dimensional laser Doppler velocimeter for each azimuth angle in a wind tunnel. The results show that aerodynamic forces of the blade based on the pressure measurements change according to the local angle of attack during rotation. Therefore the wake of the yawed rotor becomes asymmetric for the rotor axis. Furthermore, the relations between aerodynamic forces and azimuth angles change according to tip speed ratio. By the experimental analysis, the flow field and the aerodynamic forces for each azimuth angle in yawed flow condition were clarified.
Improvement in the Super Low Core-loss Soft Magnetic Materials

We reported a P/M soft magnetic material with core loss value of , which is lower than that of 0.35mm-thick laminated material, by using high purity gas-atomized iron powder. Lack of mechanical strength and high cost of powder production are significant issues for industrial use. In order to achieve both low core loss and high strength by using inexpencive powder, the improvement of powder shape and surface morphology and binder strength was conducted. As the result, the material based on water-atomized powder with 80 MPa of TRS and 108 W/kg of core loss (W10/1k) was achieved.

Students becoming physical therapists (PT) or occupational therapists (OT) cannot experience rehabilitation for actual patients’ troubles before clinical training. For this reason we have developed the knee joint robot imitating patients" troubles such as range of motion trouble, contracture, rigidity, spasticity and so on. Therefore students can experience rehabilitation for patients’ troubles virtually by using the robot. Moreover, from the standpoint of educational effect we have to develop a training program using the robot for the students to learn skilled manual therapy techniques for patients’ troubles. In this paper, we propose a training program consisting of the monitoring system, the force display system, the supervisory system and the evaluation system. Firstly, we develop monitoring function in which the graphs of robot’s angle, velocity and their appropriate values for training are displayed during training. Secondly, we develop simulation algorithms of clonus and hypertonia occurring in manual therapy. Lastly, we develop an evaluation method of manual therapy techniques for a patient with hypertonia.

Study Design: Retrospective case series. Purpose: To clarify the influence of cervical spinal canal stenosis (CSCS) on neurological functional recovery after traumatic cervical spinal cord injury (CSCI) without major fracture or dislocation Overview of Literature: The biomechanical etiology of traumatic CSCI remains under discussion and its relationship with CSCS is one of the most controversial issues in the clinical management of traumatic CSCI. Methods: To obtain a relatively uniform background, patients non-surgically treated for an acute C3–4 level CSCI without major fracture or dislocation were selected. We analyzed 58 subjects with traumatic CSCI using T2-weighted mid-sagittal magnetic resonance imaging. The sagittal diameter of the cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) column, degree of canal stenosis, and neurologic outcomes in motor function, including improvement rate, were assessed. Results: There were no significant relationships between sagittal diameter of the CSF column at the C3–4 segment and their American Spinal Injury Association motor scores at both admission and discharge. Moreover, no significant relationships were observed between the sagittal diameter of the CSF column at the C3-4 segment and their neurological recovery during the following period. Conclusions: No relationships between pre-existing CSCS and neurological outcomes were evident after traumatic CSCI. These results suggest that decompression surgery might not be recommended for traumatic CSCI without major fracture or dislocation despite pre-existing CSCS.

Recently, there has been a growing demand for soft magnetic materials with high conversion characteristics, due to the trend of electric devices to higher-frequency range. For ruduceing core loss in the high-frequency range, using finely grained and high-resistivity Fe-based alloy powder is most efficient methods. But, conventionally, there's been a compressibility problem for such powder. In this work, Fe-based alloy powder that offers both high resistivity and high compressibility was developed by studyuing composition of the powder, and reduction of core loss of P/M soft magnetic materials in the high frequency range was achieved.

Continuous duodenal levodopa/carbidopa intestinal gel delivery by a gastrostomy infusion system improves control of Parkinson’sdisease. The overall complication rates of percutaneous endoscopic gastrojejunostomy were reported to be 41% and 59% for immediateand delayed adverse events, respectively. A 72-year-old woman underwent percutaneous endoscopic gastrojejunostomy using thedelivery system noted above. Abdominal pain and vomiting occurred 3 months later. Esophagogastroduodenoscopy showed alongitudinal ulcer extending from the lower gastric body to the ileum end, with small intestinal telescoping. Colonoscopy showed alarge bezoar of food residue that was attached around the tip of the tube, reaching the ascending colon, which may have acted as ananchor. Thus, the gastric antrum and small intestine were shortened with telescoping. This complication was resolved by crushing thebezoar with forceps during colonoscopy and can be prevented by consuming a fiber-free diet and periodic exchanges of the tube usingesophagogastroduodenoscopy.

Simultaneous measuring system for permeability and resistivity of magnetic sheets is presented. In this system, the coil impedance is measured when a specimen is inserted between two coils. This system was applied to nickel sheets, iron-nickel alloys and a nickel thin film.
