Effect of substrate on photo-induced persistent photoconductivity in InAs nanowires
Kim, Taeok,Park, Sungjin,Kang, Hang-Kyu,Jeong, Kwangsik,Bae, Jungmin,Song, Jindong,Cho, Mann-Ho Elsevier 2018 APPLIED SURFACE SCIENCE - Vol.458 No.-

Abstract

The thermal conduction by the difference in the substrate of InAs nanowires (NWs) was investigated by determining the local temperature using Raman spectroscopy as an optical method. The optoelectric characteristics of the supported and suspended InAs nanowires were also investigated. The change in the current with the laser power produced a characteristic profile depending on the InAs nanowire configuration. The persistent photoconductivity (PPC) effect in the InAs nanowires has not been previously studied in detail despite its importance for the material photoresponse. This report presents a study of the PPC effect and the underlying mechanism. The correlation between the PPC effect and the thermal conduction by the substrate-induced carrier redistribution in the InAs nanowires is highlighted. In addition, a unique PPC effect associated with a specific device structure is studied. Our results can enable novel functionalities for InAs-based optoelectric applications in the future.

Highlights

The relative difference in the thermal conduction by the difference in the substrate of InAs nanowires was evaluated using Raman spectroscopy.

The difference in thermal conduction affect the PPC characteristic of InAs nanowire device.

21 Vol.9 No.1
In this paper we have examined two traditional singing round dances, Yohor(Eхор) and Osuokhay(Осуохай) of Buryat and Yakurt tribes, which are represented siberian and far-eastern federal districts, we also have focused on meaning of the round dances for the tribes through performance study and element analysis. Yohor of Buryat and Osuokhay of Yakurt, deeply involved with sun worship and prosperity ritual, provide an opportunity to identify the location of an individual as part of the universe and the world among relations between individuals and nature, between individuals and tribes, between tribes and gods. In terms of the relationship between dance and culture, there is a need to expand the study of round dances that started in Yohor and Osuohai to comparative studies with our Tapdori (Circling the Pagoda) and our round dance, Ganggangsullae in the future. Furthermore, the study of dance, which is embodied in a similar form starting from the mural images of primitive society and spreading throughout the world, can lead to an approach to humanuniversal cultural prototypes that transcend individual countries and peoples.
Airway Protection in Children With Dysphagia: A Preliminary Study
Vol.32 No.1
Purpose: The physiology and pathophysiology of pediatric swallowing are challenging due to anatomical differences. There are only a few videofluoroscopic case studies examining the relationship between physiologic events and aspiration in infants, especially, airway protection mechanisms using temporal measurements. This study examined the airway protection mechanisms using two temporal measurements: the initiation and duration of laryngeal closure between two groups of children who were referred for dysphagia evaluation. Methods: Twelve children (8 younger and 4 older children) were patriciate in the study. Initiation of laryngeal closure (ILC) and laryngeal closure duration (LCD) were measured using videofluoroscopic swallowing examinations (VFSEs) with a 100-ms timer for bottle-fed or 2mL thin liquids and/or puree boluses. Two-way analysis of variance (ANOVA) was used at a significance level of p<.05. Results: Younger children showed longer LCD than older children. There was no significant difference in ILC between younger and older children with dysphagia. The puree had longer ILC and shorter LCD than the thin liquid bolus. Conclusions: The longer duration of laryngeal closure in younger children may indicate that their anatomical structure is more prone to better protect their airways than older children. Longer ILC and shorter LCD were observed in both children groups who presented penetration or aspiration. These pathophysiological phenomena should be observed closely as indicators of the higher risk of dysphagia. Bolus modification such as thickened liquid may help the children to keep from aspiration.
21 Vol.12 No.2
The purpose of this study is to examine in detail the identity of this film that the director ultimately wanted to show to the audience through the study of Corn Island by director George Ovashvili. For this purpose, the previous studies were reviewed, and the meaning of time and space, the characters in the movie were also examined. Unlike the director’s previous and subsequent works, the Corn Island does not directly expose the subjects and themes related to the Abkhaz-Georgian conflict. However, using exotic and visual aesthetics, mise-en-scene and highly poetic metaphors, the director clearly presents the pain of the war and conflict and his own film making style. This study on Ovashvili’s directorial style and his filmmaking techniques will not only contribute to further research on the director’s film identity, which remains at a rudimentary level and will also serve as a bridge leading to humanistic approach to existing regional studies related to Georgia and Abkhazia.
