Submarine optical fiber cable construction consists of marine survey, PLGR(Pre Lay Grapnel Run), shore-end-work, laying order. PLGR is the work process which removes the oceanic contaminations(ropes, wires, nets etc) in the route before laying the submarine optical cable. This PLGR is work to ease the cable lay safely in seabed, improve the performance af Plough and ROV(Remotely-Operated Vehicle) laying work, and protect laying equipment. This paper presents the design and implementation of real-time monitoring system for PLGR work in submarine optical fiber cable construction enterprise. In this paper, we designe overall real-time monitoring system. For this purpose, the modules such as serial multi port communication module, communication module, real-time processing module, environment configuration module, real-time graph and a printout module are designed and implemented. For the validity evaluation of this paper, serial multi port communication module, data parsing, realtime graph output are implemented and tested.

The paper presents the actual conditions of residual aluminium in drinking water and its countermeasure in relation to the introduction of new standard of residual aluminium in drinking water in 1995. The maximum permitted quantity of residual aluminium in drinking wafer is 0.2㎎·Al/ℓ in Korea, whereas the same guideline of drinking water in the United States is 0.05㎎·Al/ℓ. The American guideline of drinking water seems more reliable and safer than Korean standard. Therefore, the author believe that Korea government needs more strict standard of permitted quantity of residual aluminium in drinking water like USA. The study shows that the residual aluminium in drinking water is largely controlled by pH. Technologically speaking, the acheivement of 0.1㎎·Al/ℓ residual aluminium in drinking water standard is quite possible permitted quantity and the standard is using in Sweden.

The relative geostrophic velocity is estimated by using the MCSST(Multi-Channel Sea Surface Temperature) from a NOAA/AVHRR image and applied to the Korea Strait. Remote sensing technique can playa useful role to research for oceanic phenomena because of its synoptic, simultaneous and repetitive viewing. The high resolution data of AVHRR can determine the geostrophic flow more precisely than the hydrographic data on shipboard. As a result of research, the relative geostrophic velocity in the western channel of the Korea Strait is the strongest in the trough area and its maximum speed is about 23.8 cm/sec in April, 1992. But this results include the error due to neglecting the effect of salinity in estimating the geopotential anomaly. The geostrophic volume transport through the western channel of the Korea Strait is the largest between trough area and the Tsushima Island.
