An improved cross-correlation method based on wavelet transform and energy feature extraction for pipeline leak detection

Suzhen Li,Xinxin Wang,Ming Zhao 국제구조공학회 2015 Smart Structures and Systems, An International Jou Vol.16 No.1

Early detection and precise location of leakage is of great importance for life-cycle maintenance and management of municipal pipeline system. In the past few years, acoustic emission (AE) techniques have demonstrated to be an excellent tool for on-line leakage detection. Regarding the multi-mode and frequency dispersion characteristics of AE signals propagating along a pipeline, the direct cross-correlation technique that assumes the constant AE propagation velocity does not perform well in practice for acoustic leak location. This paper presents an improved cross-correlation method based on wavelet transform, with due consideration of the frequency dispersion characteristics of AE wave and the contribution of different mode. Laboratory experiments conducted to simulate pipeline gas leakage and investigate the frequency spectrum signatures of AE leak signals. By comparing with the other methods for leak location identification, the feasibility and superiority of the proposed method are verified.

Measurement of Intra-Fraction Displacement of the Mediastinal Metastatic Lymph Nodes Using Four-Dimensional CT in Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer

        Suzhen Wang,Jianbin Li,Yingjie Zhang,Wei Wang,Fengxiang Li,Tingyong Fan,Min Xu,Qian Shao 대한영상의학회 2012 Korean Journal of Radiology Vol.13 No.4

Objective: To measure the intra-fraction displacements of the mediastinal metastatic lymph nodes by using four-dimensional CT (4D-CT) in non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). Materials and Methods: Twenty-four patients with NSCLC, who were to be treated by using three dimensional conformal radiation therapy (3D-CRT), underwent a 4D-CT simulation during free breathing. The mediastinal metastatic lymph nodes were delineated on the CT images of 10 phases of the breath cycle. The lymph nodes were grouped as the upper, middle and lower mediastinal groups depending on the mediastinal regions. The displacements of the center of the lymph node in the left-right (LR), anterior-posterior (AP), and superior-inferior (SI) directions were measured. Results: The mean displacements of the center of the mediastinal lymph node in the LR, AP, and SI directions were 2.24 mm, 1.87 mm, and 3.28 mm, respectively. There were statistically significant differences between the displacements in the SI and LR, and the SI and AP directions (p < 0.05). For the middle and lower mediastinal lymph nodes, the displacement difference between the AP and SI was statistically significant (p = 0.005; p = 0.015), while there was no significant difference between the LR and AP directions (p < 0.05). Conclusion: The metastatic mediastinal lymph node movements are different in the LR, AP, and SI directions in patients with NSCLC, particularly for the middle and lower mediastinal lymph nodes. The spatial non-uniform margins should be considered for the metastatic mediastinal lymph nodes in involved-field radiotherapy. Polysaccharides from the Fleshy Fruits of Camellia oleifera Attenuate the Kidney Injury in High-Fat Diet/Streptozotocin-Induced Diabetic Mice

        Jialin Li,Fuhua Xie,Xiuzhi Zhu,Haibo Hu,Xiansong Fang,Zhiwei Huang,Zhiping Liu,Suzhen Wu 한국식품영양과학회 2020 Journal of medicinal food Vol.23 No.12

The fleshy fruits of Camellia oleifera Abel are the immature fruits of C. oleifera, which are infected by Exobasidium vexans Massee and then turn to be intumescent and hollowed. They contain rich trace elements and vitamin C and are eaten directly as wild fruits in the Chinese countryside. Recent studies report that C. oleifera has anti-inflammatory and antioxidative effects. The current study, for the first time, evaluates the renal protective capacity of polysaccharides from the fleshy fruits of C. oleifera (CFFP) in streptozotocin-induced diabetic mice fed high-fat diets. The diabetic mice were orally administered CFFP for 3 months to evaluate the renoprotective function of CFFP. Our results indicated that 250 mg/kg CFFP significantly alleviated diabetes-induced renal injury by decreasing serum creatine, blood urea nitrogen levels, the kidney/body weight ratio, expression of fibronectin and collagen, as well as the secretion of tumor necrosis factor-α and interleukin-6. Additionally, 250 mg/kg CFFP could significantly ameliorate renal oxidative stress through increasing glutathione levels and lowering malondialdehyde contents. We confirmed that CFFP could exert antioxidative, anti-inflammatory, and antifibrosis activities. CFFP might be a potential therapeutic agent, and the fleshy fruits of C. oleifera might be a diet therapy for diabetic patients in the future.

Research on fault diagnosis method of reciprocating compressor valve based on IVMD-CMS model

        Fengfeng Bie,Suzhen Chen,Fengxia Lyu,Hongfei Zhu,Qianqian Li,Xinting Miao 대한기계학회 2023 JOURNAL OF MECHANICAL SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY Vol.37 No.8

As for the complex shock vibration characteristics, the issue of difficult to extract the characteristic information of reciprocating compressor valve, a fault diagnosis method combining informational variational mode decomposition (IVMD) and cyclic modulation spectrum (CMS) is proposed. In this paper, the Bayesian information criterion (BIC) is optimized for the VMD decomposition parameter firstly, and the obtained IVMD algorithm is applied to decompose the signal into intrinsic mode functions (IMFs). Secondly, the signal is reconstructed with the correlation coefficient. Finally, the CMS algorithm is utilized for the reconstructed signal analysis, from which main spectral features of the carrier frequency and cyclic frequency on the cyclic modulation spectrum are obtained. The characteristic information of the signal is highlighted with the amplitude and relationship of the frequency feature. The effectiveness and superiority of the method in the diagnosis of reciprocating compressor valve faults are demonstrated with the numerical simulation and experimental analysis.

Wild Rosa roxburghii Tratt Juices Grown at Different Altitudes Regulate Blood Glucose in Type 1 Diabetic Mice via the PI3K/Akt Pathway

        Yuping Zhu,Suzhen Zhai,Bei Li,Ziyi Zhao,Jiao Xie,Tingyuan Ren 한국식품영양과학회 2023 Journal of medicinal food Vol.26 No.11

To explore hypoglycemic effect of wild Rosa roxburghii tratt (RRT) juice at different altitudes on type 1diabetes mellitus (T1DM). The T1DM mouse model was induced by streptozotocin (STZ), and the experiment included anormal group (NC), model group (MC), wild RRT juice groups high (HF), medium (MF), low altitude (DF) and cultivatedcontrol group (PC). During experiment, food intake, water intake, body weight, and fasting blood glucose were measured. After 28 days of administration, glucose tolerance, glycogen level, lipid profiles, and antioxidation levels in serum and liverwere measured, and histomorphological changes of liver and kidney were observed by hematoxylin and eosin staining. The results showed that wild RRT juice reduced blood glucose level, alleviated liver and kidney tissue damage, improvedglucose and lipid metabolism disorders and attenuated oxidative damage in T1DM mice. Western blot showed that wild RRTjuice at grown at different altitudes significantly increased protein abundance of PI3K, Akt, and GLUT2 in liver of T1DMmice. In conclusion, wild RRT juice from different altitudes improved glucose and lipid metabolism disorders and oxidativedamage in T1DM mice, which may be attributed to activation of PI3K/Akt pathway. Overall effect: MF > PC > HF > DF.

      • A multi-time scale vibration surveillance system for third-party threats on urban pipeline

Zelong Liu,Renzhu Peng,Yan Zhang,Suzhen Li 국제구조공학회 2021 Smart Structures and Systems, An International Jou Vol.27 No.3

Third-party interference caused by construction activities have seriously jeopardized the security of underground pipelines. Following the process of "signal collection—feature extraction and selection—multi-time scale identifying— combining results by voting", this paper proposes a multi-time scale surveillance system for interference prevention of thirdparty threats on the nearby pipeline by using ground vibration monitors. The system focuses on the two major urban construction activities induced by excavator breaking hammers and road cutters, and presents excellent performance under the noise of traffic and pedestrian. Three features including the short-time zero-crossing rate, subset differential parameter and the Mel frequency cepstrum coefficients are selected by the analysis of the maximal information coefficient and feature importance for identifying the patterns of different third-party activities. The crucial part of the surveillance system consists of the two random forest-based classifiers trained by 0.5 s samples and 8 s samples respectively, and the alarm depends on the voting of the two classifiers, which brings the perspectives on different time scales for decision making. In the test, 96.14% of the threat vibration signals can be detected, while only 0.45% of the environmental noise signals cause false alarms.
