A Study on the Relationship between Dae-Jang-Jung-Gyeok(大腸正格) and Leaky Gut Syndrome Lee Jin-Cheoul1·Park Sang-Kyun2·Bang Jung-kyun3 *1Dept. of Medical History, College of Korean Medicine, Kyunghee University 2Dept. of Meridian, College of Korean Medicine, Sangji University 3Dept. of Korean Medical Classics and History, College of Korean Medicine, Sangji University Objective: If the penetration ratio of the intestinal mucosa is increased, the toxic or unhealthy materials - which should not be absorbed into our bodies - will be come into our bodies. They cause a sort of anti-toxic response or confusion of the immune system, and ultimately bring various types of diseases. This syndrome is related "Poison in Excrement" or "Internal Damage(內傷發□)" and Leaky Gut Syndrome, so I will study on the relationship between them. Method: Study on the relationship between Dae-Jang-Jung-gyeok and Leaky Gut Syndrome. Result: Korean doctors in ancient times called this syndrome "Poison in Excrement" or "Internal Damage(內傷發□)" and treated it with "Dae-Jang-Jung-Gyeok(大腸正格)". Leaky Gut Syndrome is a sort of clinical lesion, which allows foreign and harmful toxins in and results in a disorder of the immune system due to the leaking intestinal mucosa. Conclusion: Based upon the analyses, Dae-Jang-Jung-Gyeok and Leaky Gut Syndrome are closely related. Therefore diseases caused by the Leaky Gut Syndrome might be expected to be cured by Dae-Jang-Jung-Gyeok. Particularly the use of treatments for self-immune diseases and allergic diseases such as atopyic dermatitis and articular rheumatism should be expected to reveal a new path of treatment for other disorders such as Leaky Gut Syndrome. Modulation and coding for dimmable visible light communication

<P>The recent interest in short-range optical wireless communication technology driven by the widespread deployment of solid state lighting has led to significant efforts on the standardization of visible light communication. In such efforts, the consideration of dimming support poses fundamental challenges on the VLC system design that have not been addressed elsewhere. This article overviews the technical considerations for enhancing the VLC physical layer by summarizing the state-of-the-art advancements in modulation and coding technologies dedicated to VLC systems. In addition, the technical challenges for system enhancement under lighting restrictions are described.</P>

Purpose The preferred radionuclide imaging procedure for diagnosing prosthetic joint infection is combined radiolabeled leukocyte/$^{99m}Tc$ sulfur colloid bone marrow scintigraphy, which has an accuracy of over 90 %. Unfortunately, sulfur colloid is no longer available in South Korea. In this study, we evaluated the usefulness of $^{99m}Tc$ phytate, a substitute for $^{99m}Tc$ sulfur colloid, when combined with radiolabeled leukocyte scintigraphy in suspected prosthetic knee infections. Methods Eleven patients (nine women, two men; mean age $72{\pm}6$ years) with painful knee prostheses and a suspicion of infection underwent both $^{99m}Tc$ HMPAO leukocyte scintigraphy (LS) and $^{99m}Tc$ phytate bone marrow scintigraphy (BMS). The combined images were interpreted as positive for infection when radioactivity in the LS at the site of clinical interest clearly exceeded that of the BMS (discordant); they were interpreted as negative when the increased activity in the LS was consistent with an increased activity in the BMS (concordant). The final diagnosis was made with microbio-logical or intraoperative findings and a clinical follow-up of at least 12 months. Results Five of eleven patients were diagnosed as having an infected prosthesis. The overall sensitivity, specificity, positive predictive value (PPV), negative predictive value (NPV), and diagnostic accuracy of the combined LS/BMS were 100 %, 83 %, 83 %, 100 % and 91 %, respectively. Conclusion We find that combined $^{99m}Tc$ HMPAO LS/$^{99m}Tc$ phytate BMS shows comparable diagnostic performance to other studies utilizing sulfur colloid. Combined $^{99m}Tc$ HMPAO LS/$^{99m}Tc$ phytate BMS is therefore expected to be an acceptable alternative to combined radiolabeled LS/$^{99m}Tc$ sulfur colloid BMS for diagnosing prosthetic knee infections.
Effects of Single Treatment of Anti-Dementia Drugs on Sleep-Wake Patterns in Rats

We studied the effects of acetylcholinesterase inhibitors, donepezil and galantamine, and an N-methyl-D-aspartate (NMDA) receptor blocker, memantine, on sleep-wake architecture in rats. Screw electrodes were chronically implanted into the frontal and parietal cortex for the electroencephalography (EEG). EEG was recorded with a bio-potential amplifier for 8 h from 09:30 to 17:30. Vibration was recorded to monitor animal activity with a vibration measuring device. Sleep-wake states such as wake (W), slow-wave sleep (S) and paradoxical or rapid eye movement sleep (P), were scored every 10 sec by an experimenter. We measured mean episode duration and number of episode to determine which factor sleep disturbance was attributed to. Donepezil and memantine showed a significant increase in total W duration and decreases in total S and P duration and delta activity. Memantine showed increases in sleep latency and motor activity. Changes of S and P duration in memantine were attributed from changes of mean episode duration. Galantamine had little effect on sleep architecture. From these results, it is showed that galantamine may be an anti-dementia drug that does not cause sleep disturbances and memantine may be a drug that causes severe sleep disturbance.

Pore characteristics of Lotus‑Type Porous Copper Fabricated by Centrifugal Casting

Lotus-type porous copper was fabricated by a centrifugal casting. The long cylindrical pores aligned along single directionwas formed during unidirectional solidification in a hydrogen atmosphere under a centrifugal force. The relationship betweenprocessing parameters and pore characteristics in centrifugal casting was investigated in detail. Porosity and average porediameter increased with increasing distance from bottom of ingot and rotational velocity. The processing parameter in centrifugalcasing affected the pressure on liquid/solid interface and the solidification rate during unidirectional solidification. It is concluded that an appropriate pore characteristics of lotus-type porous copper can be obtained by control of processingparameters in the centrifugal casting.
