Many theories of color harmony have suggested that colors having similar visual attributes such as hue, chroma or tone would appear harmonious. We have investigated on visual impression of a set of colors characterized by colored lights[1][2]. Colors of surfaces under a colored light should change in similar ways. Thus, we could produce a set of colors that have some common visual characteristics of color given by the colored light. We refer this method as a colored light characterization method. Our previous studies showed that color arrangements produced by the colored light characterization method would appear harmonious and give some specific visual impressions depending on the colored lights. Those studies were carried out using an experimental set-up installed actual colored light lamps. In this study we have prepared methods producing any colors characterized by a colored light on a computer display and systematically investigated the effects of the colored light characterization method on visual impression of color arrangements. The result indicated that color arrangements characterized by the chromatic colored light were evaluated as more harmonious than those by the white light. It was also showed that the color arrangements gave different visual impressions depending on the colored lights.

Background: Minimally invasive liver resection including laparoscopic and robotic liver resection is a rapidly developing field withthe greatest potential. However, the spatial disorientation is one of the biggest issues that would increase the risk of dangerousbleeding and bile leakage. To overcome this issue, it is of crucial importance to standardize anatomical liver resection with extrahepaticGlissonean pedicle-first approach and to use advanced 3D liver simulation software that can visualize the Glissoneansystem. Methods: We proposed a novel concept of liver anatomy based on Laennec’s capsule that can standardize the extrahepaticGlissonean pedicle approach. Whereas Synapse 3D® is the first simulation software to use face recognition technology for clinical3D simulation and visualization of the Glissonean system are available since version 4.4.Results: Owing to the novel concept of liver anatomy, anatomical liver resection with extrahepatic Glissonean pedicle-first approachwas standardized and target area was well recognized prior to parenchymal dissection with minimal bleeding and bileleakage from the resecting plane. Preoperative 3D simulation and intraoperative navigation contributed to perform systematicanatomical liver resection without spatial disorientation even for the cases with anatomical abnormalities such as right-sidedligamentum teres. Conclusion: Minimally invasive liver resection including laparoscopic and robotic resection became safe and curable procedureswith the novel concept of liver anatomy and advanced 3D liver simulation.
MAGNETIC PROPERTIES OF REPb₂(RE : LIGHT RARE - EARTH ELEMENT) COMPOUNDS

Systematic studies on the crystal structure and magnetic properties of light rare earth element(RE) compounds with Pb, REPb₂, have been carried out. Their crystal structure has been identified to be a MoSi₂type. The values of the effective magnetic moment for CePb₂ PrPb₂ and NdPb₂ are respectively very close to the theoretical values of RE³+. These three compounds are antiferromagnetic and exhibit a metamagnetic transition. The magnitude of the Neel temperature is proportional to two-thirds of the de Gennes factor. The magnetic entropy change for NdPb₂ is contrast to the value for CePb₂ heavy-fermion compound, comparable to the theoretical value. The magnetic contribution to the temperature dependence of resistivity for PrPb₂ is given by a form of -lnT in a wide temperature range, implying the Kondo system in analogy with CePb₂.

Photo-induced gratings m flexible PDMS (polydimethly siloxane) film are directly written by a high-intensity femtosecond (130fs) Ti: Sapphire laser (${\lambda}_p$ = 800nm). The refractive index modifications with $4\;{\mu}m$ diameters were photo-induced after the femtosecond irradiation with peak intensities of more than $1{\times}10^{11}W/cm^2$. The graded refractive index profile was fabricated to be a symmetric around the center of the point at which femtosecond laser by controlling both laser power and focused depth. The change on refractive index in the laser-modified regions was estimated to be approximately $10^{-3}$. The internal flexible symmetric diffraction gratings in PDMS film was successfully fabricated using a femtosecond laser.

Active thin films are ubiquitous in the manufacture of all forms of flat panel display (FPD). One of the most widely employed thin films is indium tin oxide (ITO) and metal films used electrically conductive materials in display industries. ITO is widely used for fabrication of LCD, OLED device, and many kinds of optical applications because of transparency in visible range and its high conductivity and metal films are also widely employed as electrodes in various electric and display industries. It is important that removing specific area of layer, such as ITO or metal film on substrate, to fabricate and repair electrode in display industries. In this work, we demonstrate efficient selective ablation process to ITO and aluminum film on glass using a femtosecond laser (λp = 1025㎚) respectively. The femtosecond laser with wavelength of 1025㎚, pulse duration of 400fs, and the repetition rate of 100㎑ was used for selectively removing ITO and Al on glass in the air. We can successfully remove the ITO and Al films with various pulse energies using a femtosecond laser.
