조선전기 전의현의 안동김씨 문중 인물과 그 사회적 위상

이 글은 조선전기 충청도 전의현의 안동김씨 문중을 대상으로 주요 인물의 역사적 가치를 제고하는 한편, 당시 문중이 지녔던 지역사적 위상을 살펴보는 것을 목적으로 한다. 이를 위해 세종-세조 연간에 두각을 보인 주요 인물의 정치ㆍ사회적 활동을 집중적으로 살펴보고, 그들과 연혼관계에 있었던 인물을 구체적으로 추적했다. 그 결과 고려말 전의현에 입향한 이래로 15세기에 이르러 김익정과 김수녕 등 세종과 세조의 측근으로서 왕의 신임을 받으며 중앙정계에서 활약한 인물들을 배출했다. 특히 그간 효자로 알려진 김익정은 1420년에 주조한 금속활자인 경자자의 제작을 감독한 인물로서 세종대 인쇄문화사에 있어서 주목해야 함을 밝혔다. 이 글을 단초로 역사인물의 발굴과 함께 지역학 연구의 활성화가 이루어지기를 기대한다. The objectives of this thesis are to enhance the historical value of central figures targeting Andong Kim clan in Chonui-hyon, Chungcheong-do in the early Joseon Dynasty, and also to examine the local-historical status of the clan of the time. For this, this study intensively examined the political/social activities of prominent major figures during the reign of King Sejong and King Sejo, and also concretely traced the figures in marriage-based relationships with them. As a result, this study could produce the figures like Kim Ik-Jeong and Kim Su-Nyeong who actively performed in the central political world by having the king’s confidence as a close person to King Sejong and King Sejo in the 15th century after entering Chonui-hyon in the end of Goryeo Dynasty. Especially, Kim Ik-Jeong who is known as a filial son is the one who supervised the production of a metal type ‘Gyeongjaja’ casted in the 1420s, so he should be paid attention in the history of printing culture during the reign of King Sejong. This thesis should be the beginning of the discovery of historical figures and the vitalization of researches on area studies.

Preliminary study for molecular epidemiology of Solenopsis invicta : determine the usefulness of the microsatellite markers

Origin of Red imported fire ant (RIFA : Solenopsis invicta) is Central America, a tropical climate region. It has settled in the invasive area, causing various problems. In recent, Solenopsis invicta were discovered in Busan in 2017 and then in 2018 at a construction site in Busan, Pyongtaek, Incheon and in Daegu. This study aims to confirm the origin of invasive colonies of Solenopsis invicta. We tried to test previously developed microsatellite markers so that we establish the tracing protocol for molecular epidemiology of RIFA. We justified 66 microsatellite markers already developed using DNA from the RIFA found in Incheon Harbor. As results, 30 markers were selected to facilitate amplification and fragment analysis.

Joint Identification of Genetic Variants for Physical Activity in Korean Population

<P>There has been limited research on genome-wide association with physical activity (PA). This study ascertained genetic associations between PA and 344,893 single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) markers in 8842 Korean samples. PA data were obtained from a validated questionnaire that included information on PA intensity and duration. Metabolic equivalent of tasks were calculated to estimate the total daily PA level for each individual. In addition to single- and multiple-SNP association tests, a pathway enrichment analysis was performed to identify the biological significance of SNP markers. Although no significant SNP was found at genome-wide significance level via single-SNP association tests, 59 genetic variants mapped to 76 genes were identified via a multiple SNP approach using a bootstrap selection stability measure. Pathway analysis for these 59 variants showed that maturity onset diabetes of the young (MODY) was enriched. Joint identification of SNPs could enable the identification of multiple SNPs with good predictive power for PA and a pathway enriched for PA.</P>

A Case of Nocardia farcinica Pneumonia and Mediastinitis in an Immunocompetent Patient

Nocardia species are aerobic, gram-positive pathogens found worldwide in soil. Nocardia is considered an opportunistic pathogen, and its infection mostly occurs in immunocompromised patients. We report a case of Nocardia farcinica induced mediastinitis and pneumonia that occurred in a 64-year-old male patient who had no significant medical history except for hypertension. He visited another hospital with a complaint of dyspnea and left chest wall pain. The symptoms arose 7 days ago without any trauma and they worsened. A mediastinal mass was found on computed tomography scan. After being transferred to our hospital for further evaluation, he was diagnosed with mediastinitis and pneumonia. As N. farcinica was found to be the causative organism by 16S rRNA sequencing, proper antibiotic therapy including trimethoprim/sulfamethoxazole was initiated immediately. After this, the patient improved and he was discharged. If an infection has a disseminating course, nocardiosis cannot be excluded even in immunocompetent patients. Once the diagnosis is established, prompt antibiotic therapy should be performed based on the severity.

Electronic Structure of PbS Colloidal Quantum Dots on Indium Tin Oxide and Titanium Oxide

<P>The size of colloidal quantum dot (CQD) materials and their surface modification by chemical ligands can change electronic properties thereby affecting device performances. In this study, direct measurement of the electronic structure within CQD thin film upon solid-state ligand exchange from oleic acid to 1,2-ethanedithiol has been made by photoelectron spectroscopy. Specifically, we analyzed valence band structures as a function of PbS CQD thickness on two kinds of substrates, indium tin oxide and titanium oxide, which give the trace of band bending and its saturation. Consequently, the energy-level alignment of the PbS CQD reveals downward band bending to the substrate but with different magnitude and depletion width depending on substrate. Zirconium Hydroxide-coated Nanofiber Mats for Nerve Agent Decontamination

<P>Diverse innovative fabrics with specific functionalities have been developed for requirements such as self-decontamination of chemical/biological pollutants and toxic nerve agents. In this work, Zr(OH)(4)-coated nylon-6,6 nanofiber mats were fabricated for the decontamination of nerve agents. Nylon-6,6 fabric was prepared via the electrospinning process, followed by coating with Zr(OH)(4), which was obtained by the hydrolysis of Zr(OBu)(4) by a sol-gel reaction on nanofiber surfaces. The reaction conditions were optimized by varying the amounts of Zr(OBu)(4),the reaction time, and the temperature of the sol-gel reaction. The composite nanofibers show high decontamination efficiency against diisopropylfluorophosphate, which is a nerve agent analogue, due to its high nucleophilicity that aids in the catalysis of the hydrolysis of the phosphonate ester bonds. Composite nanofiber mats have a large potential and can be applied in specific fields such as military and medical markets.</P>

<P>Conclusions: The consistent improvement in survival of patients with HCC was confined to HBV-related HCC subcohort over the last decade in an HBV-endemic population. The survival improvement coincided with the exponential use of oral antiviral agents for HBV in the patients.</P>
