In future, since the user experience plays a more and more important role in the development of today’s communication systems, quality of experience (QoE) becomes a widely used metric, which reflects the subjective experience of end users for wireless service. In addition, the energy efficiency is an increasingly important problem with the explosive growth in the amount of wireless terminals and nodes. Hence, a QoE-aware energy efficiency maximization based joint user access selection and power allocation approach is proposed to solve the problem. We transform the joint allocation process to an optimization of energy efficiency by establishing an energy efficiency model, and then the optimization problem is solved by chaotic clone immune algorithm (CCIA). Numerical simulation results indicate that the proposed algorithm can efficiently and reliably improve the QoE and ensure high energy efficiency of networks.

Hexamerins are hemolymph-proteins, which are mainly considered as storage proteins for non-feeding stages, and also undertake other roles during insect development and growth, however the characterization of hexamerin proteins in Spodoptera exigua is less understood. In this study five new hexamerin genes were identified and a total seven hexamerin genes were reported in S. exigua. These hexamerins contain the typical domains of hemocyanin at the N-terminal, C-terminal and in the middle of their protein sequences. These genes are mainly expressed in fat body, and the signal peptide sequences at their N-terminal of protein sequences can drive the expressed protein to excrete into hemolymph after synthesis. The phylogenetic analysis and amine acid composition revealed S. exigua express five different types of hexamerins: 1) Storage protein rich in methionine residue (MRSP), 2) Storage protein moderately rich in methionine (MMRSP), 3) Hexamerin with high composition of aromatic amino acids (Arylphorin), 4) Arylphorin-like hexamerin, and 5) Riboflavin-binding hexamerin (RbH). The phylogenetic pattern combined with the comparison of conserved histidine residues in copper binding sites of hexamerins revealed basal position of RbH and the evolutionary pathway in lepidopteran hexamerins. Finally, the induction expression of hexamerins by insecticide, lambda-cyhalothrin, were analyzed, results showed that lambda-cyhalothrin exposure may down-regulate their expression. This study increased the gene number of hexamerin to seven, and reported their expression and structural characterizations, the finding will facilitate the understand of hexamerin in other insects.

Recently, all-solid-state batteries (ASSBs) have attracted increasing interest owing to their higher energy density and safety. As the core material of ASSBs, the characteristics of the solid electrolyte largely determine the performance of the battery. Thus far, a variety of inorganic solid electrolytes have been studied, including the NASICON-type, LISICON-type, perovskite-type, garnet-type, glassy solid electrolyte, and so on. The garnet Li7La3Zr2O12 (LLZO) solid electrolyte is one of the most promising candidates because of its excellent comprehensively electrochemical performance. Both, experiments and theoretical calculations, show that cubic LLZO has high room-temperature ionic conductivity and good chemical stability while contacting with the lithium anode and most of the cathode materials. In this paper, the crystal structure, Li-ion transport mechanism, preparation method, and element doping of LLZO are introduced in detail based on the research progress in recent years. Then, the development prospects and challenges of LLZO as applied to ASSBs are discussed.

Laser-assisted ultrasonic dressing (LUD) of the removal behavior of diamond wheel material is investigated by simulation and experimental method. The finite element model of diamond wheel is constructed for simulation during LUD. The effect of parameters of LUD process on the dressing force is discussed according to the simulation results. LUD experiments of diamond wheels are carried out after obtaining optimization of parameter. The dressing force obtained from simulation and experiments are compared. It is found that the variation tendency of simulated dressing force is in agreement with the experimental result. This indicates that the simulation results can be effectively used for the selection of process’ parameters.

Resveratrol possesses a wide spectrum of pharmacological properties and has been an ideal alternative drug for the treatment of different cancers, including prostate cancer. However, the mechanisms by which resveratrol inhibits the growth of prostate cancer are still not fully elucidated. To understand the effect of resveratrol on the apoptosis and the epithelial-tomesenchymal transition (EMT) of prostate cancer as well as its related mechanism, we investigated the potential use of resveratrol in PC-3 prostate cancer cells in vitro using real-time PCR, fluorescence-activated cell sorting, Western blotting, etc. Resveratrol suppresses the PC-3 prostate cancer cell growth and induces apoptosis. Resveratrol also influences the expression of EMT-related proteins (increased E-cadherin and decreased Vimentin expression). Finally, resveratrol also suppressed Akt phosphorylation in PC-3 cells. This study indicates that resveratrol may be a potential anti-cancer treatment for prostate cancer; moreover, it provides new evidence that resveratrol suppresses prostate cancer growth and metastasis.

Spodoptera exigua has developed very high resistance to pyrethroid insecticides; however, the mode-of-action target of pyrethroids has not been studied, and the mechanism for target resistance remains elusive in this insect. In this study the resistance level of a field collected population from Huizhou, China was assayed with leaf-dip method and further selected in laboratory. The transcripts of voltage-gated sodium channel gene from S. exigua were cloned and analyzed for the structural characteristics, the relative expression levels of transcripts were measured by quantitative RT-PCR. Finally, detection of the point mutations was performed. The bioassay indicated that Huizhou population had developed 309.5-fold resistance to lambda-cyhalothrin, and the selection in laboratory led to the resistant strain (HZ14-sel) with increased resistance of 423-fold. Nine transcripts of sodium channel with 4517–6149 bp nucleotides were identified from S. exigua, among which only one transcript (SeNav4) encode the functional protein with complete domains, and other eight transcripts were observed to lost some transmembrane segments. The L834F mutation in IIS6 corresponding for the typical kdr mutation “L1014F”, was detected in 50% individuals of HZ14-sel strain. These results suggested that lambda-cyhalothrin resistance is associated with point mutations and expression level changes of sodium channel transcripts in HZ14-sel strain.

Background High-risk HPV is a causative factor of cervical cancer. HPV DNA fragments integrate into host genome resulting in the constitutive expression of HPV genes E6 and E7 under the regulation of transcription factors, such as p300 and Tip60. Interestingly, Tip60, a factor with HAT (histone acetyl transferase) activity, represses HPV18 E6/E7 genes while another HAT p300 activates the transcription of HPV18 E6/E7. Objective To explore the mechanism for the opposite roles of Tip60 and p300 in the virus gene regulation, and the influence of Tip60 and p300 in histone modifications in the regulatory sequence of HPV18 genes. Methods Tip60 or p300 was either knocked down or overexpressed in HeLa cells. The effects on HPV E6E7 expression were determined with RT-qPCR. The association of RNA polymerase II and the enrichment of acetylated or methylated histones in HPV promoter region were measured by ChIP assays with specific antibodies. Results ChIP results showed that Tip60 and p300 differently affected the modifications of histone H3K9 and the deposition of nucleosomes in HPV18 long control region (LCR). HPV18 LCR in HeLa cells is bivalent chromatin carrying both the active histone H3K9 acetylation mark and the repressive histone H3K9 trimethylation mark, the balance is maintained by Tip60 and p300. Conclusion(s) Based on the roles of Tip60 and p300 in HPV gene regulation, chemical compounds targeting Tip60 or p300 are potential anti-cervical cancer drugs.
