Characterization and expression analysis of inositolphosphorylceramide synthase family genes in rice (Oryza sativa L.)

        Pengfei Liao,Jinqiu Huang,Puguo Tong,Wang Nie,Xin Yan,Yingmei Feng,Hui Peng,Xiaojue Peng,Shao-Bo Li 한국유전학회 2017 Genes & Genomics Vol.39 No.5

Genes encoding inositolphosphorylceramide synthase (IPCS), which play essential roles in sphingolipid biosynthesis, have been known to be widely distributed in plants. However, reports on identification, expression, and function analysis of plant IPCS family genes are very limited. In this study, a total of three OsIPCS genes were identified in the rice database, and their full-length coding regions were amplified by RT-PCR. These genes had 12–13 exons, and they encoded proteins of 313–326 amino acids with molecular mass of 35.8–37.6 kDa and isoelectric point of 10.99–12.61. Importantly, two typical and conserved motifs (D3 and D4) in plants were found in all the three putative OsIPCS proteins, indicating high similarity of OsIPCSs to the other plant IPCS proteins, which were confirmed by phylogenetic analysis. The transcripts of OsIPCS genes appeared in different rice organs including seedling roots, stems and leaves, and young panicles, but each gene showed a unique organ-specific expression pattern. Meanwhile, we found that all the three OsIPCS genes showed responses to stresses like drought, cold and salt, but their expression patterns were also to some extent different under stress treatments. Especially, under cold stress, OsIPCS1 and OsIPCS2 were significantly up-regulated in roots and stems but down-regulated in leaves, while OsIPCS3 was significantly up-regulated in all the measured organs. Actually, putative abiotic-stress regulatory elements were identified in the promoters of these genes. Our data suggest that OsIPCS genes should play important roles during rice growth and adversity adaptation.

Design and aerodynamic characteristic analysis of unfolding-bending bionic flapping-wing aircraft

Weiping Shao,Hui Zhang,Pengfei Zeng 대한기계학회 2022 JOURNAL OF MECHANICAL SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY Vol.36 No.6

A bionic flapping-wing aircraft model is designed in this study to achieve unfolding-bending effect of a bird’s wings during flight, realize active unfolding-bending movement, and demonstrate rapid return characteristic of flapping-bending motion. We use the new method of ADAMS and XFlow cosimulation to analyze its aerodynamic characteristics and investigate effects of flutter frequency, air flow velocity, fuselage angle of attack, and aileron torsion angle on its aerodynamic characteristics. Results showed that increasing the flapping frequency can significantly improve aerodynamic characteristics, increasing the air flow velocity will reduce aerodynamic characteristics, decreasing the fuselage angle of attack will reduce peak lift and increase peak thrust, and increasing the aileron torsion angle will reduce the rising resistance and increase forward thrust. The analysis results showed the excellent aerodynamic characteristics of the model.

      • Effect of ages and season temperatures on bi-surface shear behavior of HESUHPC-NSC composite

        Yang Zhang,Yanping Zhu,Pengfei Ma,Shuilong He,Xudong Shao Techno-Press 2023 Advances in concrete construction Vol.15 No.6

Ultra-high-performance concrete (UHPC) has become an attractive cast-in-place repairing material for existing engineering structures. The present study aims to investigate age-dependent high-early-strength UHPC (HESUHPC) material properties (i.e., compressive strength, elastic modulus, flexural strength, and tensile strength) as well as interfacial shear properties of HESUHPC-normal strength concrete (NSC) composites cured at different season temperatures (i.e., summer, autumn, and winter). The typical temperatures were kept for at least seven days in different seasons from weather forecasting to guarantee an approximately consistent curing and testing condition (i.e., temperature and relative humidity) for specimens at different ages. The HESUHPC material properties are tested through standardized testing methods, and the interfacial bond performance is tested through a bi-surface shear testing method. The test results quantify the positive development of HESUHPC material properties at the early age, and the increasing amplitude decreases from summer to winter. Three-day mechanical properties in winter (with the lowest curing temperature) still gain more than 60% of the 28-day mechanical properties, and the impact of season temperatures becomes small at the later age. The HESUHPC shrinkage mainly occurs at the early age, and the final shrinkage value is not significant. The HESUHPC-NSC interface exhibits sound shear performance, the interface in most specimens does not fail, and most interfacial shear strengths are higher than the NSC-NSC composite. The HESUHPC-NSC composites at the shear failure do not exhibit a large relative slip and present a significant brittleness at the failure. The typical failures are characterized by thin-layer NSC debonding near the interface, and NSC pure shear failure. Two load-slip development patterns, and two types of main crack location are identified for the HESUHPC-NSC composites tested in different ages and seasons. In addition, shear capacity of the HESUHPC-NSC composite develops rapidly at the early age, and the increasing amplitude decreases as the season temperature decreases. This study will promote the HESUHPC application in practical engineering as a cast-in-place repairing material subjected to different natural environments.

Stable pH sensitivity of LaAlO3/SrTiO3 interfacial electronic gas

        Dong Yan,Zhang Lunyong,Li Chen,Liu Yanli,Shao Pengfei,Lei Jianming,Wang Rui,Wu Di,Chen Dunjun,Zhang Rong,Zheng Youdou 한국물리학회 2022 Current Applied Physics Vol.34 No.-

Probing pH value is essential for many applications. The request of developing stable and highly sensitive pH sensor with small size are increased recently, this is a challenge to the traditional glass pH sensors. This work investigated the pH sensing performance of the novel two-dimensional electronic gas (2DEG) at the LaAlO3/ SrTiO3 heterostructure interface discovered recently. The experimental results demonstrated that the devices host excellent sensing ability to the pH value of aqueous solutions. Quite stable output current is realized for a given pH value, and the output current is linearly dependent on pH value as required by sensor applications. This work would prompt the application research of LaAlO3/SrTiO3 heterostructure and design of new generation of advanced pH sensors.
