Logistics in construction project includes purchase, procurement and transportation on the network consisting of contractor, subcontractor, supplier, manufacturer, carrier and so on. Collaborations and integrations among the each participants play a key role. It is necessary that we take advantage of recent information technology in order to optimize logistics and achieve collaborative integration. The use of extensible markup language(XML) has been continued increasingly in recent years. This research aims at presenting conceptual Logistics system based on XML/EDI. Various participant in construction project will have more efficient and malleable Logistics atmosphere.
CM at Risk의 국내 건설시장 도입 및 활성화 방안 연구

Nowadays, construction projects are increasing its complexities, risks and demands for greater' input and management skill. Also owners are gradually inclined to transfer their risks to other parties. In order to respond this situation, it is necessary that the different kinds of delivery systems suitable for the clients' needs be diversified and adapted to the Korean construction industry. In this background, the study is to present the approach to introduce CM at risk, one of the alternative delivery systems in Korea, by revising some regulations and proposing various types of this system.

Design-Build is considered as the project delivery system to manage construction process more efficiently than design-bid-build. So Korea government has encouraged Design-Build in public sector. But single selection method of weighted criteria doesn't provide the greatest value to owner. Therefore, there is a need to improve selection method to meet owner's needs and project characteristics. This study proposes four types of selection method. Each of selection method is focused on price, qualification, time. The use of these selection methods enable owner to provide the greatest value.

The purpose of this study is to propose an efficient design-VE job plan and applicable methods in each phase of design process. This is for more effective and practical use of VE in design phase. This study focuses on differences of the VE target selection phase and function analysis phase in each phase of design process. In the phase of preliminary design, conceptual sketch, size, use, or major spaces of project are selected for VE target and function assessment step is skipped because present cost and function cost cannot be produced easily in early in early phase of design. At the end of preliminary design phase, function review phase is added which consists of function satisfactory indices review step and unsatisfactory function removal step.

In terms of the Safety, a risk of accident in construction industry is the most dangerous thing in any other industries. So, there have been many studies to improve the safety performance of construction projects. But, the most of them were dealt with controls in the job site and the contractor. For these reasons, the purpose of this study(Construction Safety Management) is two-part. : One is showing the basic items composed of prequalification in Construction Safety Management, and the other is improving the selection method to meet the owner's needs including a Contractor's Safety Management Performance.
Present Status and Prospects on Thermal Conversion Technologies for ‘Waste and Biomass to Energy’

The demand for renewable energy is increasing due to the shortage of energy supply and anticipated global warming due to greenhouse gas emissions from fossil energy plants. In this regard, the significance of WtE (Waste to Energy) in terms of both technology and policy has been significant in recent years. In fact, WtE technology that produces energy from byproducts and garbage already has a potential to cover around 80% of total renewable energy generated in Korea. The waste and biomass with inclusion of organic portions are chemically akin to each other, and the technologies that utilize them have shown some similarity. Therefore WtE technology is an attractive option that can handle both waste and biomass in conjunction, while heat or electricity generation from the conventional technologies such as waste incineration has been already well implemented in advanced countries. In order to achieve higher efficiency and better performance in the energy generated from the wastes, several new ideas and innovative thermal technologies have been developed and introduced: pyrolysis, gasification, and liquefaction with less green-house gas emissions.
Volume Reduction Ratio and Decontamination Factor of the Bench Scale Radwaste Incineration Process

A bench scale incineration process for the burnable radwaste has been constructed and operated at KAERI as a self-surpported development of incineration technology. The purposes of operating the process are to get experience in incineration, to analyze the characteristics of combustion and to test the performance of off-gas treatment units. Simulated paper and polyethylene wastes were incinerated. Volume reduction ratio and decontamination factor of the process have been determined to observe the economical efficiency and operational capability of the process. A methodology to estimate the acceptance limit of specific activity to an incineration facility by using a decontamination factor and to calculate the volume reduction ratio of the facility is introduced. The acceptance criteria for different radionuclides in the combustible waste at the bench scale incineration process are suggested using this methodology.
