        Three-Dimensional Printing: Basic Principles and Applications in Medicine and Radiology

        <P>The advent of three-dimensional printing (3DP) technology has enabled the creation of a tangible and complex 3D object that goes beyond a simple 3D-shaded visualization on a flat monitor. Since the early 2000s, 3DP machines have been used only in hard tissue applications. Recently developed multi-materials for 3DP have been used extensively for a variety of medical applications, such as personalized surgical planning and guidance, customized implants, biomedical research, and preclinical education. In this review article, we discuss the 3D reconstruction process, touching on medical imaging, and various 3DP systems applicable to medicine. In addition, the 3DP medical applications using multi-materials are introduced, as well as our recent results.</P>

        Effect of Silane and Sulfur Variation on the Vulcanizate Structure of Silica-Filled Styrene-Butadiene Rubber Compounds

        The vulcanizate structure of silica-filled compounds is affected by the filler-rubber interaction (FRI) due to the silica-rubber coupling reaction and the chemical crosslink density (CCD) of the matrix rubber. In this study, the vulcanizate structure changes of silica-filled compounds according to the silane and sulfur variation were quantitatively analyzed using the Flory-Rehner and Kraus equations. In efficiency vulcanization (EV) conditions with low sulfur content, FRI increased when the bis-[3-(triethoxysilyl)propyl]tetrasulfide (TESPT) content increased, and the CCD clearly decreased. By contrast, in semi-EV conditions with high sulfur content, as TESPT content increased, the FRI increased the same way EV conditions, but the CCD was unchanged. Based on these results, it was confirmed that FRI of the silica-filled compounds increased as TESPT content increased, but CCD decreased or retained similar values according to the vulcanization system, indicating that the formation reaction of FRI was preferred over CCD.

        A correlation between piezoelectric response and crystallographic structural parameter observed in lead-free (1-<i>x</i>)(Bi<sub>0.5</sub>Na<sub>0.5</sub>)TiO<sub>3</sub>–<i>x</i>SrTiO<sub>3</sub> piezoelectrics

        <P><B>Abstract</B></P> <P>The structure of lead-free (1-<I>x</I>)(Bi<SUB>0.5</SUB>Na<SUB>0.5</SUB>)TiO<SUB>3</SUB>-<I>x</I>SrTiO<SUB>3</SUB> (BNT-ST<I>x</I>) ceramics was analyzed by the Rietveld method, using X-ray diffraction and neutron scattering data. The structural refinement results suggest that the crystal structure successively changes with SrTiO<SUB>3</SUB> concentration, <I>x</I>, from the rhombohedral phase (<I>x</I> =0.00) to rhombohedral and tetragonal (<I>x</I> =0.10–0.30), tetragonal and cubic (<I>x</I> =0.40–0.60), and finally cubic (<I>x</I> =0.80–1.00) phases. Correlation between the charge sensor constant (<I>d</I> <SUB>33</SUB>) and the weighted off-center value (<I>d<SUB>w</SUB> </I>) was observed, which may be attributed to the increased dipole motion in the unit cell due to an increased tendency to respond to external stimulation. Furthermore, an improved charge sensor constant (<I>d</I> <SUB>33</SUB>) of 140 pC/N was observed for BNT-ST0.20, and a large strain of 0.25% and a <I>d</I> <SUB>33</SUB> <SUP>*</SUP> value of 443 pm/V were observed from <I>x</I> =0.30.</P>

        시각 언어에 기반한 작업흐름 시스템

        This paper describes the workflow system based on a visual language that supports the design and the management of a workflow. The system provides a visual language to describe a workflow and supports efficient working environment. The system consists of a visual design tool and a workflow manager. The visual design tool can design a workflow using the visual language that establishes relations between icons that mean atomic working activities. The relations are represented by visual sentences. Users can easily capture the meaning of them. Also, the maintenance of the designed workflow is performed effective1y by adjusting space arrangement of visual sentences. The workflow manager has the HITE system as its infrastructure. It triggers an execution of each activity according to the designed workflow and maintains automatically processing of activities. The system supports flexible modification of a workflow according to variation of a business model, modulation of a workflow, design of a workflow with hierarchical structure, reuse of workflow modules, and etc. This paper describes each component of the system, and compares and analyses features of the system with those of traditional workflow systems. As an application of the system, a workflow for an approval in a business process is illustrated. 본 논문은 시각 언어에 기반한 작업흐름의 설계 및 관리를 위한 시스템 Workflow/VL을 제시한다. Workflow/VL은 작업흐름 기술을 위한 시각 언어를 제공하며, 효과적인 작업 환경을 지원한다. 본 시스템의 구성은 작업흐름의 설계를 위한 시각 설계 도구와 작업흐름의 실행 및 관리를 위한 작업흐름 관리자로 이루어진다. 시각 설계 도구는 단위 작업 행위를 의미하는 아이콘들간의 관계를 설정하는 시각 언어를 사용하여 작업흐름을 기술한다. 기술된 작업흐름은 시각 문장으로 표현됨으로써 작업의 흐름 관계 파악이 용이하며, 또한 작업흐름의 유지 및 보수는 아이콘들간의 공간적 배열을 조정함으로써 효과적으로 수행할 수 있다. 작업흐름 관리자는 기존의 HITE시스템을 기반으로 하며, 기술된 작업흐름에 따라 각 작업들의 수행을 지시하고, 각 작업이 기술된 흐름을 따라 자동적으로 처리 되도록 관리한다. 본 시스템은 작업흐름 설계, 설계된 작업흐름 모듈의 재사용 등을 지원한다. 본 논문에서는 시스템의 각 구성 요소를 기술하고, 기존 작업흐름 시스템과의 특성을 비교 분석하였다. 본 논문에서는 업무 처리에서 문서 결재를 위한 작업흐름을 예로서 보였다.

      • Development and characterization of 12 microsatellite loci from blueberry gall midge Dasineura oxycoccana (Diptera: Cecidomyiidae)

        The blueberry gall midge, Dasineura oxycoccana (Johnson), which has been recently introduced into Korea, is a notorious pest on blueberries. This invasive insect has rapidly spread throughout Korea including Jeju island. So far, we have no epidemic information, such as invasion routes and subsequent dispersal rates in Korea. To understand population genetics of D. oxycoccana, we have developed 12 novel microsatellite loci. To obtain its sequence data, the next generation sequencing was performed using mixed individuals collected from Korea and USA. The developed loci were polymorphic, with 6 to 16 alleles in 35 individuals from a single population of Hwaseong. The analyses revealed that all 35 individuals had different multilocus genotypes with heterozygosity ranging from 0.568 to 0.790. These markers will facilitate population genetic studies of D. oxycoccana.

      • Isolation and characterization of 15 microsatellite loci from Lycorma delicatula (Hemiptera: Fulgoridae)

        Lycorma delicatula (White 1845), which has been recently introduced into Korea, is a notorious pest on grapes. This invasive insect has rapidly spread throughout central and southern Korea. To date, we have no behavioral or population genetics information, such as invasion routes and subsequent dispersal rates in Korea, to help understand and control populations of L. delicatula. Here, we have developed 15 novel microsatellite loci for L. delicatula. The isolated loci were polymorphic, with 2 to 19 alleles in 42 individuals from a single population in Cheonan. The analyses revealed that all 42 individuals had different multilocus genotypes with heterozygosity ranging from 0.214 to 0.866. Eleven of the 15 loci did not deviate significantly from Hardy-Weinberg equilibrium. The isolated markers will facilitate population genetic studies of L. delicatula.

        T.SHARE 기반 공동작업 분산제어엔진의 개발

        어플리케이션 공유를 지원하는 시스템 개발에 대한 2가지 접근방향으로 공동작업-인식 방법과 공동작업-투명 방법이 있다. 공동작업-인식 방법은 기존의 단일 사용자용 어플리케이션에 대한 공유를 지원하지 못한다. 공동작업-투명 방법을 이용하여 개발된 기존 시스템은 이형 환경에 대한 확장성을 지원하지 못하고 시스템간 리소스가 달라서 정확하게 일관된 뷰를 제공하지 못한다. 본 논문에서는 기존의 단일 사용자용 어플리케이션을 위치와 종류에 관계없이 투명하게 공유하고 공동작업을 지원하는 T.SHARE기반 공동작업 분산제어엔진을 설계하고 구현한다. 이것은 공동작업-투명 방식을 이용하여 새로운 그룹웨어 시스템 개발에 대한 비용을 줄이고 원격 어플리케이션을 수정 없이 공유할 수 있다. 본 분산제어엔진은 어플리케이션의 뷰(view)를 공유하고 엔진간 상호 교환되는 데이터를 T.SHARE에 기반함으로써 이형 환경에 대한 확장성과 상호운용성을 제공한다. 또한 동적 참여자에게 동일한 뷰를 제공하고 서로 다른 시스템 정보에 대한 동기화를 수행하여 뷰의 일관성을 보장한다. There are two approaches to developing a system that provides application-sharing. The first is a collaboration-awareness manner and the second is a collaboration-transparency manner. A collaboration-awareness manner does not support sharing of existing single-user applications. Traditional systems developed in a collaboration-transparency manner neither support extensibility on heterogeneous environments nor provide consistent view correctly because resource-information among systems is different. In this paper, we design and implement a distributed control engine for collaboration based on T.SHARE that provides collaborative work and enables multi-user to share existing single-user applications transparently regardless of locations and types of applications. The distributed control engine reduces cost for developing a new groupware system and shares remote application without modifying it. The distributed control engine supports interoperability and extensibility on heterogeneous environments by sharing an application-view and by interchanging data among engines based on T.SHARE. It also provides the same view to dynamic joiners and supports consistent view by providing the synchronization mechanism on different system information.

        원격 공동 실험을 위한 플랫폼

        본 논문은 원격 공동 실험을 위한 플랫폼인 PCS(Platform for Collaborative System) 개발에 관한 연구이다. PCS는 특정 응용 분야를 목적으로 하지 않고, 모든 분야의 공동 실험 시스템을 개발할 수 있는 범용의 공동 실험 플랫폼이다. PCS는 공동 실험에 필요한 객체인 통신, 세션, 사용자, 어플리케이션, 미디어, 메시지 객체와 이들에 대한 관리 메커니즘 함수를 가진 관리 객체로 구성된다. 관리 객체는 공동 실험 객체와 이들을 관리하는 오퍼레이션으로 구성되며, 관리 객체 사이의 상호작용을 통하여 제어정보 및 데이타를 처리한다. 또한, PCS는 공동 실험을 위한 어플리케이션 공유 기술을 통하여 단일 사용자 어플리케이션을 다중 사용자 어플리케이션으로 활용할 수 있도록 하고, 공유 어플리케이션을 통한 원격 기기 제어 기능을 제공한다. PCS 플랫폼은 원격 공동 실험을 위한 환경을 제공하며, 여러 공동 실험 시스템의 하부 구조로 사용될 수 있다. This paper is concerned with the development of PCS(Platform for Collaborative System), which is a platform for development of remote collaborative experiment systems. Platform does not aim at the development of special-domain applications. This system implies the common development environments which can develop all-domain applications. PCS consists of collaborative experimental objects such as communication, session, user, application, media, message object and management objects that have management functions. Management objects are made up of collaborative experimental objects and operations which manipulate control information and data. It also supports application sharing for making single user interface of experimental applications to multi-user interface. Application sharing also supports instruments control on the remote site. PCS platform supports total environments for remote collaborative experiment and can be used as infrastructure to all kinds of collaboratory systems.
