<P><B>Abstract</B></P> <P>Biodiesel production using oleaginous yeasts, such as <I>Yarrowia lipolytica</I>, has recently attracted strong attention in terms of lipid yield and productivity. However, efficient methods of lipid extraction from oleaginous yeasts are required to further improve the economic feasibility of yeast-based biodiesel production. We investigated the effectiveness of selected switchable hydrophilicity solvents (SHSs), namely, N-ethylbutylamine (EB), N-dipropylamine (DP), and N,N-dimethylcyclohexyl-amine (DMCHA), for lipid extraction from the oleaginous yeast <I>Y. lipolytica</I>. Regardless of using harvested cells or culture broth, DMCHA and EB effectively extracted lipids from <I>Y. lipolytica</I>, resulting in up to 13% higher lipid yields than that obtained by conventional organic solvent extraction using a chloroform/methanol mixture. The lipid extracts obtained by the SHSs showed fatty acid compositions comparable to that obtained with the conventional solvent, thus assuring the quality of biodiesel produced through this method. After switching processes by purging with CO<SUB>2</SUB> and N<SUB>2</SUB>, the lipids and solvents were successfully recovered, demonstrating the practicability of lipid extraction using SHSs. Signal Integrity Enhanced EBG Structure With a Ground Reinforced Trace

<P>In general, a conventional electromagnetic bandgap (EBG) structure efficiently suppresses simultaneous switching noise (SSN) over a wide frequency range. However, it is difficult to apply the geometry to the design of a real printed circuit boards (PCBs) for high-speed digital circuits due to the degradation in the signal integrity performance. In this paper, a ground reinforced trace (GRT) is added to the EBG power plane to guarantee power integrity (PI) as well as signal integrity (SI) simultaneously. In addition, the definition of a noise suppression bandwidth in an EBG structure is derived for the purpose of analyzing the correlation between the GRT and the noise suppression bandwidth. This correlation is utilized to decide the location of the GRT to mitigate the degradation of the low-pass cutoff frequency. As a result, an excellent signal performance is achieved without any degradation of the noise suppression bandwidth in a conventional EBG structure.</P>

In this paper, a press-fit machine using a robot with servo press is proposed to change an existing press-fit machine for flexible manufacturing line. The existing machine carries out a process at a station but the new developed machine can conduct two processes and is more flexible by using a Robot because positions where parts are pressed can be freely changed. To develop this machine, centering device is used for correcting centers of the parts. The centering device has a function of locking to prevent the oscillation of the parts during moving. The locking function can prevent the extension of cycle time. Also, frame for supporting tons of repulsive force during pressing-fit is used. The frame is a plate made of steel and contact with the bracket of servo press and transfer the repulsive force to base plate fixed at floor. As a test result, the quality of press fit with bearing race and dowel pin is very good. The flexible press fit machine can be applied to parts such as plug, steel ball in engine assembly line..
MicroRNA signatures associated with thioacetamide-induced liver fibrosis in mice

<P>Multiple etiologies of liver injury are associated with fibrosis in which the key event is the activation of hepatic stellate cells (HSCs). Although microRNAs (miRNAs) are reportedly involved in fibrogenesis, the complete array of miRNA signatures associated with the disease has yet to be elucidated. Here, deep sequencing analysis revealed that compared to controls, 80 miRNAs were upregulated and 21 miRNAs were downregulated significantly in the thioacetamide (TAA)-induced mouse fibrotic liver. Interestingly, 58 of the upregulated miRNAs were localized to an oncogenic miRNA megacluster upregulated in liver cancer. Differential expression of some of the TAA-responsive miRNAs was confirmed, and their human orthologs were similarly deregulated in TGF-1-activated HSCs. Moreover, a functional analysis of the experimentally validated high-confidence miRNA targets revealed significant enrichment for the GO terms and KEGG pathways involved in HSC activation and liver fibrogenesis. This is the first comprehensive report of miRNAs profiles during TAA-induced mouse liver fibrosis.</P>

<P><B>Abstract</B></P><P>The aim of this study was to evaluate the treatment and prognosis of gastric gastrointestinal stromal tumors (GISTs) according to the 7th UICC/AJCC tumor-node-metastasis (TNM) system and the modified National Institutes of Health (NIH) risk classification. The study cohort consisted of 1057 patients with gastric GIST who underwent surgery between January 2000 and December 2007 from 13 institutions in Korea and 2 in Japan. Clinicopathologic characteristics, surgical outcomes, recurrence, and 5-year recurrence-free survival were evaluated.</P><P>The mean age of the patients was 58.6 years. Thirty patients (2.8%) had distant metastasis preoperatively. Median tumor size was 4.0 cm. Complete resection (R0 resection) was achieved in 1018 patients (96.3%). Eighty-six patients (8.1%) had postoperative complications, and 2 patients (0.2%) died within 30 days after surgery. According to the 7th UICC/AJCC TNM system, 5-year recurrence-free survival rates were 95% to 99% in stage I, 94.1% in stage II, 74.1% in stage IIIA, 48.6% in stage IIIB, and 50.0% in stage IV patients. On survival analysis of high-risk patients according to the TNM system, the 5-year recurrence-free survival rates were 91.6% in stage II, 74.1% in stage IIIA, and 48.6% in stage IIIB patients. Independent factors of recurrence following surgery for gastric GIST were gender, tumor size, mitotic count, and radicality on multivariate analysis.</P><P>The treatment outcome and prognosis of gastric GIST in Korea and Japan seem more favorable compared to those in Western countries. Compared to the modified NIH risk classification, the 7th UICC/AJCC TNM system is more reflective of the 5-year recurrence-free survival of patients with gastric GIST.</P>

Food wastewater (FWW) and sewage sludge (SS) were used to control the C :N ratio in cultures as a method to increase lipid production by microbial species in SS. FWW and SS were mixed in volumetric ratios (FWW: SS) of 5 : 0 (F5), 4 : 1 (F4), or 3 : 2 (F3). Compared to raw SS, total lipid content production was increased by 263% in F5, 142% in F4, and 111% in F3. These results were caused by increases in the concentrations of triglycerides (TAGs) during lipid enhancement. The fatty acid methyl ester content of TAGs (wt% of extract) was 25.3 in F5, 20.2 in F4 and 13.25 in F3; these were significant improvements over biodiesel production using raw SS. C16:0 fatty acid was mostly converted to C18:1 fatty acid; this is an important result because the proportion of C18:1 strongly influences the quality of biodiesel. This is the first effort to produce biodiesel using FWW instead of synthetic medium as a carbon source. Hence, this study provides a useful solution for treating organic wastes (SS and FWW) simultaneously; this strategy may be an economically viable method for producing biodiesel from organic wastes.
진동수주형 파력발전 시스템을 탑재한 압축공기 주입식 방파제의 동적거동 해석

단독의 파력발전 변환장치(WEC)를 설치하는 경우 경제성이 떨어지는 문제점이 있으므로 기존 혹은 신설의 방파제에 WEC를 적용하여 파랑제어와 파랑에너지의 이용을 동시에 도모하는 방식이 많이 추진되고 있다. 본 연구는 방파제로 연구 개발된 압축공기 주입식 방파제에 진동수주형 파력발전시스템을 탑재한 경우 방파제로의 기능과 파력발전장치로의 기능을 병행하여 검토한다. WEC로써의 기능을 검토하기 위해서는 압축공기실에서 유출되어 WEC로 유입되는 압축공기 흐름속도가 정확히 평가될 필요가 있다. 따라서, 본 연구에서는 선형속도포텐셜이론에 기초한 경계요소법을, 압축공기 흐름해석에 Boyle법칙과 단열변화과정에 기초한 상태방정식을 각각 적용하여 수치시뮬레이션을 수행한다. 이로부터 얻어진 해의 타당성은 여러 형태의 구조물에 대한 기존의 수치해석결과 및 실험결과와의 비교로부터 검증되며, 실제의 수치해석에서는 진동수주형 파력발전시스템을 탑재한 고정식 및 부체식의 방파제에서 여러 파라미터들의 변화에 따른 파랑변형율, 구조물의 운동 및 공기흐름속도의 특성을 규명한다. 또한, 풍력발전시스템을 본 구조물에 복합적으로 적용할 수 있으므로 파력과 풍력을 동시에 구비한 복합발전시스템의 방파제로도 기대될 수 있다. As the economic matters are involved, applying the WEC, which is used for controlling waves as well as utilizing the wave energy on existing breakwater, is preferred rather than installing exclusive WEC. This study examines the OWC mounted on a pressurized air chamber floating breakwater regarding the functionality of both breakwater and wave-power generation. In order to verify the performance as a WEC, the velocity of air flow from pressurized air chamber to WEC has to be evaluated properly. Therefore, numerical simulation was implemented based on BEM from linear velocity potential theory as well as Boyle's law with the state equation to analyze pressurized air flow. The validity of the obtained values can be determined by comparing the previous results from numerical analysis and empirically obtained values of different shapes. In the actual numerical analysis, properties of wave deformation around OWC system mounted on fixed type and floating type breakwaters, motions of the structure with air flow velocities are investigated. Since, the wind power generating system can be hybridized on the structure, it is expected to be applied on complex power generation system which generates both wind and wave power energy.
