Inset Fed Micro Strip Patch Antenna Design for Wireless Power Transmission

In communication systems, there are various types of micro strip antenna that can be used for many applications. This paper mainly focuses on the simple design of inset rectangular micro strip patch antenna to operate at frequency of 2.45GHz for rectenna design. The study involves using HFSS simulator to design the antenna dimensions and to determine its performance. This antenna is based on a thickness of 1.6mm Flame Retardant 4 (FR-4) substrate with a dielectric constant of approximately 4.7, inset feed and has a ground plane. After simulation, the antenna performance characteristics such as return loss, VSWR, gain, radiation pattern are obtained.

The study involves using an high frequency structure simulator to design the antenna dimensions and to determine its performance. This antenna is based on a thickness of 1.6 mm flame retardant 4 (FR-4) substrate having a dielectric constant of approximately 4.7, an inset feed, and a ground plane. After simulation, the antenna performance characteristics such as its return loss, voltage standing wave ratio, gain, and radiation pattern were obtained and compared with the fabricated measured antenna.

통신 시스템에서 다양한 종류의 마이크로스트립 안테나는 많은 어플리케이션에서 사용되고 있다. 본 논문에서는 무선통신을 위한 2.45 GHz의 인셋 페드 직사각형 마이크로스트립 패치 안테나를 HFSS를 활용하여 설계하였다. 안테나는 유전율 2.2, 두께 1.6 mm의 Telfron 기판을 사용하였으며 기판의 한쪽 면은 접지면을 갖는다. 시뮬레이션을 통하여 반사손실, VSWR, 이득, 방사패턴 등의 안테나 특성을 확인하였다. 주위에 센서나 휴대 전자기기 또는 RFID기반 기술을 활용하여 인터페이스 부품 및 모듈 등의 사용되는 주파수를 받아들여 이를 이용하여 낮은 전압원을 필요로 하는 기기에 전압 공급하므로 주위에 방치되는 무용성 공중 주파수를 활용을 위한 저전력 렉테나를 마이크로스트립 선로인 패치 안테나 형태로 비유전율이 4.7인 FR4기판 1.6 mm 두께의 기판에서 제작 하였다. 고조파 억압특성을 갖는 안테나를 제안하여 36.25mm×77mm<SUP>2</SUP> 의 송신 안테나와 송신 안테나의 급전선 하단 부 210mm의 정류회로를 연결한 것으로 안테나의 DC 변환 효율을 높이고자 2단 정류회로를 설계 하고 렉테나는 2.45㎓에서공진이 이루어지고 반사손실이 21.58㏈ 얻을 수 있었다. 렉테나의 실험결과 값은 중심 주파수 2.45㎓에서 거리를 10mm간격으로 송신 안테나와 수신 안테나의 거리를 변환하여 거리에 따른 안테나의 전력효율을 계산 하였다. The interface components and modules used in the receiving section of sensors around the mobile electronic device or RFID-based technologies require low voltage source for its operation. A rectenna consisting of microstrip patch antenna utilizing ambient air frequency to power these sensors is fabricated on FR4 substrate having 4.7 relative permittivity and 1.6mm thickness. The proposed antenna with total dimension of 36.25mm × 77mm including 210mm as the length of rectifying circuit have harmonic suppression functionality. The designed antenna resonates at 2.45 GHz with reflection loss of 21.58 dB. The power efficiency of antenna having center frequency at 2.45 GHz are calculated for different values of distance between the transmit and receive antennas up to 10 mm.
