A Study on the Properties of Silk and Nylon 6 Fabrics by Tannic Acid Treatment

Weighting of silk fabrics have long been practiced in silk fabric trading based on the primary consideration of price-weight, and secondary one of quality improvement in handle, luster, and drape properties. Recent trend of practicing weighting of silk fabrics is, however, focused on the improvement of the handle, luster, drape, andother properties. During the finishing processes of synthetic fiber, nylon, comprising amide structure, include the use of tannic acid, especially in the dyeing. A multitude of studies are being implemented in terms of improving fastness to washing, fastness to light of dyed nylon product, or the light fastness of nylon 6 itself. In this study, the effects of various tannic acid treatments on the physical properties related to the handle of nylon 6 and silk fabrics are examined and reviewed. The effects of treatment condition of the tannic acid, e.g., the concentration of the aqueous tannic acid solution, treatment time, and temperature were investigated. As the concentration of the aqueous solution of tannic acid increased, the bending rigidity values of the silk and nylon 6 fabrics increased. The treated fabrics felt stiff to the touch. Within the mild conditions of bending employed in the bending measurement of KES, nylon 6 treated fabric specimen exhibited a trend of improvement of bending resiliency within the range of small bending deformation. The weight of treated fabrics have all increased. The air-permeability values decreased as the treatment concentration increased. However, the decrease tendency of air permeability values may be alleviated by adjusting the fabric count during the tentering or expanding processes, either by tension adjustment or heat treatment. Optimum conditions of the treatment for nylon 6 are 1.25% tannic acid concentration, bath temperature of 85 , pH 3.1, ℃ and those for silk fabric treatment are 1.25% tannic acid concentration, bath temperature of 85℃, pH 3.1. The treatment conditions will lead to the improvement in the properties of fabrics for summer.

The main purpose of this study is to analyze the characteristics of toluene removal by plasma, photocatalyst, and plasma/photocatalyst system with the major parameters such as flow rate, inlet toluene concentration and applied voltage, etc., experimentally. In the combined plasma/photocatalyst process, rates of toluene conversion are represented as 99% at flow rate 250, 500 mL/min while, below 97% at flow rate 1000 mL/min due to the low residence time(reaction time) at the same applied voltage 4173 voltage and toluene inlet concentration 50 ppm.

The main object of this study was to investigate the collection characteristics of wet-type cyclone with wall cavity. The experiment was executed to analyze the characteristics of pressure drop and collection efficiency for the present system with the experimental parameters such as water spray, water spray type, inlet velocity etc. In results, for the present system of wet-type, the pressure drop represented 35 mmH2O, while in dry-type 33 mmH2O showing lower 6% at =21 m/s. In case of =21 m/s and water spray 200 mL/min, the collection efficiency of the present system became significantly higher as 96.8% comparing to that of the conventional wet-type scrubber. Additionally, for 200 mL/min, SO2 removal efficiencies decreased with the increment of inlet velocity representing 75.0, 62.5, 50.0%, at =6, 9, 12 m/s, respectively.
박용디젤기관의 대기오염 저감을 위한 전기 다단 임팩션 시스템의 집진특성

The main object of this study is to investigate the collection characteristics of an electro-static multi-staged impaction system, experimentally. The experiment is carried out to analyze the characteristics of pressure drop and collection efficiency for the present system with the experimental parameters such as the inlet velocity, stage number, applied voltage and shape of discharge electrode, etc. In results, the pressure drop is shown below 148 mmH2O lower than that of the conventional bag filter at inlet velocity 3.46 m/s and 5 stage. For 5 stage , the collection efficiencies are to be 97.4, 99.0% with the applied voltage 0 kV at the inlet velocity 2.07, 3.46 m/s, while 98.4, 99.9% with 40 kV of a sharp edge discharge electrode. Additionally, the present system is to be considered as an effective compact system for a removal of particulate pollutants from marine diesel engines due to much higher collection efficiency and appropriate pressure drop.
