Improvement of environmental friendly characteristics on asphalt pavement is one of the important processes to make good quality asphalt. The asphalt mixture with CRM (Crumb Rubber Modifier) is known to show a better performance in penetration, noise reduction, physical characteristics including resisting thermal cracking, fatigue cracking and rutting compared with the conventional mixture. In this study, the test on the environmental friendly characteristics, physical and mechanical characteristics of the domestic crumb rubber modified asphalt and conventional asphalt(AP-5) were conducted. The test results show that CRM asphalt has better physical and mechanical characteristics including indirect tensile strength and stiffness modules than that of conventional asphalt. The results from the test of environmental characteristics can be summarized by the followings. The optimum asphalt content of CRM mixture by Marshall test showed the range from 5% to 5.8%. The penetration ability of CRM asphalt has about a hundred times higher than conventional asphalt. CRM asphalt was considered to improve the environmental characteristics on asphalt pavement.

Seong, Eui Sun,Youn, Hye Jin,Park, Min Kyung,Boo, Hye Yeon,Lee, Bom Yi,Ryu, Hyun Mee,Han, You Jung Korean Society of Medical Genetics and Genomics 2018 대한의학유전학회지 Vol.15 No.1
Purpose: This study aimed to investigate fetal ultrasonographic findings in cases of prenatally diagnosed de novo balanced translocations and the role of fetal ultrasound in prenatal genetic counseling. Materials and Methods: We collected cases with de novo balanced translocations that were confirmed in chorionic villus sampling, amniocentesis, and cordocentesis between 1995 and 2016. A detailed, high-resolution ultrasonography was performed for prediction of prognosis. Chromosomes from the parents of affected fetuses were also analyzed to determine whether the balanced translocations were de novo or inherited. Results: Among 32,070 cases with prenatal cytogenetic analysis, 27 cases (1/1,188 incidence) with de novo balanced translocations were identified. Fourteen cases (51.9%) showed abnormal findings, and the frequency of major structural anomalies was 11.1%. Excluding the major structural anomalies, all mothers who continued pregnancies delivered healthy babies. Conclusion: Results of a detailed, high-resolution ultrasound examination are very important in genetic counseling for prenatally diagnosed de novo balanced translocations.

Dandelion has been widely utilized for medicinal and edible purposes. This research was conducted to evaluate the effect of supplemental LED (light-emitting diode) light on germination, growth characteristics and anthocyanin content of dandelion (Taraxacum officinale) seedling using LED blue (460 nm), red (660 nm, R), blue + red (B:R=6:4) and fluorescent lamp light treatment. By LED illumination to T. officinale seed germination speed was delayed, and germination rate was the highest in the fluorescent light. The growth characteristics (plant height, number of leaves, root length and fresh weight) were greatly influenced by supplemental LED light compared with control treatment, and the growth promotion was the most effective in the red LED illumination. After 60 days of red and mixed LED light treatments, anthocyanin content of dandelion plants was significantly changed. The anthocyanin content was increased by 12~19 mg/100 g under the red LED and the mixed light conditions compared with the control and the blue LED. Results indicate that illumination with red and mix LEDs, compared with other light treatments, is beneficial for promotion of growth and anthocyanin content in dandelion.
Luminescence Property of ZnS:Mn,Mg Phosphor with Excitation of Plasma Blue Light Source
Ryu, Si Hong,Kim, Wan Kyu,Lee, Seong Eui The Korean Institute of Electrical and Electronic 2013 Transactions on Electrical and Electronic Material Vol.14 No.1
In this paper, we investigated the effect of luminescence properties of various concentrations of magnesium-doped ZnS:Mn phosphor excited by plasma luminescence device. The PL intensity was evaluated in the range of 300~500 nm excitation wavelengths. We found the highest PL intensity of the phosphors excited by 365 nm and 450 nm was observed at Mg concentrations of 1.4 wt% and 0.8 wt%, respectively. In addition, an emission peak was distinguished at 580 nm wavelength. With increasing Mg dopant level, enhanced PL intensity was observed, which is possibly applicable to color converting materials by blue emission for white light sources. Finally, we evaluated the luminance properties of color converting ZnS:Mn,Mg phosphors with plasma blue light source. the white luminance of plasma light source with CIE(0.36,0.26) was established by color converting phosphors of ZnS:Mn with 0.8 wt% Mg.

Horsehair or gordian worms (Nematomorpha) were identified with 22 genera (Gordiida) and 5 marine species (Nectonema) until now. During juvenile phase in development, they gain parasitic activity in arthropods. In this study, a gordian worm was detected in the feces of a dog living in Nonsan-si, Chungcheongnam-do, Korea. Using this worm, we evaluated the morphological characteristics by light microscopic analysis. Furthermore, the morphological classification was re-evaluated by scanning and transverse electron microscopes. The worm was determined that it is male adult having a bi-lobed tail and male gonads in cross sections. Based on the morphological characteristics including cross sections of body and areole on the cuticle, the parasite was also identified as Gordius sp. (Nematomorpha: Gordiidae).
