Post-Buckling & Collapse Behavior of a Circular Cylinder
R.Krishna Kishore,Joo-Shin Park,Bong- Jae Kim,Ki-Bok Jang,Yong-Suk Suh 대한조선학회 2012 대한조선학회 학술대회자료집 Vol.2012 No.5
The objective of this paper is to examine and clarify the fundamental post-buckling behavior including elasto-plastic collapse of circular cylinder subjected to axial loading. A series of elastic and elasto-plastic large deflection analyses as well as elastic eigen buckling analysis are performed. On the basis of the numerical results, the effects of curvature (R/t), magnitude of initial imperfection on the characteristics of the post buckling and collapse behavior of circular cylinder under design loads are discussed. The obtained critical buckling stress will be compared with the theoretical formulations of Timoshenko.
CAPITAL STRUCTURE AND PRODUCT MARKET INTERACTION: AN INTERNATIONAL PERSPECTIVE
R S Rathinasamy,C R Krishnaswamy,Krishna G Mantripragada People&Global Business Association 2000 Global Business and Finance Review Vol.5 No.2
Using financial and stock market data for five years, this study empirically tests the relation between capital structure and product market structure in an international context. The main finding is that firms with monopoly power use more long-term and total debt. This evidence is consistent with the output and limited liability effect theory and the agency theoretic risk shifting theory of capital structure and product market interaction.
A review on change in plant proteome following biotic stress.
R. Krishna,Ravi Gupta,Chul Woo Min,So Wun Kim,Sun Tae Kim 한국육종학회 2015 한국육종학회 심포지엄 Vol.2015 No.07
Different biotic agents such as bacteria, fungi, nematode and virus interact with plants, and causes significant annual crop loss. The plants interact with these pathogen and undergo various changes at physiological, biochemical and molecular levels. The omics technique is a powerful way which provides important information related to molecular changes occurring during plant-pathogen interaction. Several studies have been conducted and revealed either up or down-regulation of many genes involved in metabolism, energy, photosynthesis, signaling, defense and ROS upon pathogen interaction. In this review, we highlight recent progress in proteomic studies of plant-pathogen interaction, which could be useful for controlling disease and development of molecular markers for early detection of different diseases.

Herein, a new and generic strategy has been proposed to introduce uniformly distributed graphitic carbon into the nanostructured metal oxide. A facile and generic synthetic protocol has been proposed to introduce uniformly distributed conducting graphitic carbon into the Co3O4 nanoparticles (Co3O4 NPs@graphitic carbon). The prepared Co3O4 NPs@graphitic carbon has been drop casted onto the portable screen-printed electrode (SPE) to realize its potential application in the individual and simultaneous quantification of toxic Pb(II) and Cd(II) ions present in aqueous solution. The proposed Co3O4 NPs@graphitic carbon-based electrochemical sensor exhibits a wide linear range from 0 to 120 ppb with limit of detection of 3.2 and 3.5 ppb towards the simultaneous detection of Pb(II) and Cd(II), which falls well below threshold limit prescribed by WHO.

We discuss the Hall effects on steady hydro magnetic flow of couple stress fluid in a rotating parallel plate channel bounded by a porous bed on one side. The exact solutions for the velocities in the clean fluid region and porous medium have been obtained analytically. Their behaviour has been discussed computationally with reference to the various governing parameters. The shear stresses on the boundaries also obtained analytically and discussed computationally.

Most of the photocatalytic studies for pollutant degradation are based on optimizing a single parameter that results in a non-linear relationship between the overall parameters and the photo-degradation reactions. To address this critical problem, herein, we report the use of Response Surface Methodology based on the Box-Behnken Design (BBD) for modeling the photocatalysis degradation of Malachite Green (MG) dye using nano TiO₂ as photocatalyst. The catalyst characterizations are carried out using XRD, SEM, and TEM, indicating that the TiO₂ prepared by sol-gel synthesis possesses Anatase phase with particles in the nano regime and porous surface morphology. The optimum operating conditions for degradation of MG was identified by the interactive effects of variable factors such as initial dye concentration 10-30 ppm (x₁), catalyst dosage 1-3 mg (x₂), contact time 20-60 min (x₃) using the Box-Behnken method. Furthermore, the degradation reactions are also evaluated by Artificial Neural Networks (ANN). Their predicted results have been validated by the experimental studies and found to be acceptable. Their optimal results to achieve 90% degradation efficiency at TiO₂ nanoparticle dosage (3 mg), reaction time (60 min), and initial dye concentration (20 ppm) have been validated by the experimental studies and found to be acceptable.

Helicoverpa armigera is an important pest infesting a number of crops of high commercial value leading to huge economic losses globally. RNA interference (RNAi) is a potent tool for the control of insect pests and towards this objective, transgenic tomato expressing dsRNA of Juvenile hormone acid methyl transferase (JHAMT) gene of H. armigera was developed. The H. armigera larvae fed on HaJHAMT tomato leaves led to a severe (90%) down regulation of the cognate gene expression thus adversely affected the feeding and metamorphosis. Reduction in larval and pupal weight and inability to undergo complete metamorphosis were observed that led to larval-pupal intermediates and subsequently affected the eclosion. Thus, JH down regulation is an attractive target due to specificity to insects and its important role in insect growth and development to engineer insect resistance in crops using RNAi.

In this paper, Fractional Order Fuzzy Logic (FOFL) controller based UPQC (Unifi ed Power Quality Conditioner) is proposed for addressing the power quality problems such as current distortion, voltage Swell, Sag, and THD of nonlinear loads in distribution power system. The goal is to make UPQC’s operation more aggressive by implementing a new control strategy known as FOFLC. As an order change controller, it’s known as an order control strategy. The FOFL controller is made using a refi ned recursive fi lter.In this proposed paper, a FOFL controller based UPQC is projected to address the well-known power quality issues, popularly known as harmonic compensation and voltage sag/swell and Regulation of VDC−Link in terms of Dynamic Performance of the system. The performance of UPQC is demonstrated on power distribution system consisting of nonlinear loads. The UPQC with FOFL controller is quite capable of mitigating power quality issues compared to UPQC with FOPI controller. The proposed controller is implemented using MATLAB/Simulink.
