Bar-Coated Ultrathin Semiconductors from Polymer Blend for One-Step Organic Field-Effect Transistors

<P>One-step deposition of bi-functional semiconductor-dielectric layers for organic field-effect transistors (OFETs) is an effective way to simplify the device fabrication. However, the proposed method has rarely been reported in large-area flexible organic electronics. Herein, we demonstrate wafer-scale OFETs by bar coating the semiconducting and insulating polymer blend solution in one-step. The semiconducting polymer poly(3-hexylthiophene) (P3HT) segregates on top of the blend film, whereas dielectric polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA) acts as the bottom layer, which is achieved by a vertical phase separation structure. The morphology of blend film can be controlled by varying the concentration of P3HT and PMMA solutions. The wafer-scale one-step OFETs, with a continuous ultrathin P3HT film of 2.7 nm, exhibit high electrical reproducibility and uniformity. The one-step OFETs extend to substrate-free arrays that can be attached everywhere on varying substrates. In addition, because of the well-ordered molecular arrangement, the moderate charge transport pathway is formed, which resulted in stable OFETs under various organic solvent vapors and lights of different wavelengths. Glioblastoma Multiforme with Subcutaneous Metastases, Case Report and Literature Review

Glioblastoma multiforme (GBM) is the most common primary brain tumor and the most malignant astrocytoma in adults, with rare extra-cranial metastases, especially for subcutaneous metastases. It could be easily misdiagnosed as primary subcutaneous tumor. In this report, we describe a patient with pontine GBM who developed a subcutaneous swelling at the ipsilateral posterior cervical region 8 months after operation, and the pathological and immunocytochemical examination carry the same characteristics as the primary intracranial GBM cells, which defined it as subcutaneous metastasis. GBM with subcutaneous metastasis is extremely rare, and knowledge of a prior intracranial GBM, pathological examinations and immunocytochemical tests with markers typically expressed by GBM are of vital importance for the diagnosis of GBM metastasis. Surgical resection of subcutaneous swelling, followed by chemotherapy and radiotherapy, could be the best strategy of treatment for the patients with GBM subcutaneous metastasis.

Background MIKC type MADS-box transcription factors are one of the largest gene families and play a pivotal role in flowering time and flower development. Chimonanthus salicifolius belongs to the family Calycanthaceae and has a unique flowering time and flowering morphology compared to other Chimonanthus species, but the research on MIKC type MADS-box gene family of C. salicifolius has not been reported. Objective Identification, comprehensive bioinformatic analysis, the expression pattern of MIKC-type MADS-box gene family from different tissues of C. salicifolius. Methods Genome-wide investigation and expression pattern under different tissues of the MIKC-type MADS-box gene family in C. salicifolius, and their phylogenetic relationships, evolutionary characteristics, gene structure, motif distribution, promoter cis-acting element were performed. Results A total of 29 MIKC-type MADS-box genes were identified from the whole genome sequencing. Interspecies synteny analysis revealed more significant collinearity between C. salicifolius and the magnoliids species compared to eudicots and monocots. MIKC-type MADS-box genes from the same subfamily share similar distribution patterns, gene structure, and expression patterns. Compared with Arabidopsis thaliana, Nymphaea colorata, and Chimonanthus praecox, the FLC genes were absent in C. salicifolius, while the AGL6 subfamily was expanded in C. salicifolius. The selectively expanded promoter (AGL6) and lack of repressor (FLC) genes may explain the earlier flowering in C. salicifolius. The loss of the AP3 homologous gene in C. salicifolius is probably the primary cause of the morphological distinction between C. salicifolius and C. praecox. The csAGL6a gene is specifically expressed in the flowering process and indicates the potential function of promoting flowering. Conclusion This study offers a genome-wide identification and expression profiling of the MIKC-types MADS-box genes in the C. salicifolius, and establishes the foundation for screening flowering development genes and understanding the potential function of the MIKC-types MADS-box genes in the C. salicifolius.

An effective method for reliability-based design optimization (RBDO) problems taking uncertainties into account is the probabilistic feasible region (PFR) approach. The PFR approach is built around the fixed nature of the standard deviation in general RBDO problems. Therefore, the accuracy of the PFR approach will be affected when dealing with RBDO problems with varying standard deviation. To improve the accuracy of PFR method in solving the RBDO problems with varying standard deviation, a novel probabilistic feasible region strategy considering varying standard deviations (PFR-vstd) approach is suggested in this paper. In place of the initial probabilistic feasible region in standard normal space, a new probabilistic feasible region is established in original design space in this novel approach. The results of four applications demonstrate the high accuracy and sufficient efficiency of PFR-vstd method. The findings demonstrate that PFR-vstd method is capable of accurately resolving RBDO problems with varying standard deviation.
Highly selective magnetic polymer particles via molecular imprinting

Magnetic hydrophilic molecularly imprinted polymer (MIP) particles were successfully synthesized via an inverse suspension polymerization in silicone oil, by employing methacryloxypropyltrimethoxysilane(MPS)-modified Fe3O4 nanoparticles as magnetic particles, 2,4-dichlorophenoxyacetic acid (2,4-D) as template, hydroxyethyl methacrylate (HEMA) as hydrophilic monomer, and acetonitrile as high polar porogen. The synthesized magnetic hydrophilic MIP particles could be separated rapidly under an external magnetic field. About 94% transmittance of the particlewater suspension could be reached within 20 min by magnetic separation, whereas about 84% transmittance was achieved after at least 180min by sedimentation. The adsorption capacity of the particles was also studied in pure aqueous environments. These hydrophilic MIP particles had a higher selectivity for templates. Hydrophilic MIP particles took on a higher imprinting factor than hydrophobic MIP particles and 2,4-D were able to rebind hydrophilic MIP particles more easily than 4-Chorophenoxyacetic acid.

Time-variant reliability-based design optimization (T-RBDO) issues are probabilistic design problems that assess the dependability of the design across time. The engineering situation is most closely resembled by it. The approaches to resolving T-RBDO problems, nevertheless, are convoluted and time-consuming. In this paper, an effective strategy for solving RBDO issues are extended to resolving TRBDO problems in order to increase efficiency. To solve T-RBDO challenges, the time-variant probabilistic feasible region (T-PFR) approach, which is based on the PFR method for resolving RBDO issues, was presented. The idea of the equivalent inverse most probable point (EIMPP) is put out in this methodology. Based on the EIMPP, the probabilistic feasible region is likewise developed for time-variant constraints. The effective tactic of the proposed method is to identify the non-active time-variant constraints using the probabilistic feasible region and to forego conducting time reliability analysis on them. Three mathematics and two engineering issues demonstrate that the suggested solution is viable and effective.
The complete mitochondrial genome of fall armyworm Spodoptera frugiperda (Lepidoptera:Noctuidae)

The mitochondrial genome (mitogenome) can provide important information for understanding molecular evolution and phylogenetic analyses. The complete mitogenome of Spodoptera frugiperda (Lepidoptera:Noctuidae) was determined to be 15,365 bp in length and has the typical gene order found in Noctuidae mitogenomes, it includes 13 protein-coding genes (PCGs), two rRNA genes, 22 tRNA genes and a A?T-rich region. The nucleotide composition was biased toward A?T nucleotides (81.09 %) and the AT skew of this mitogenome was slightly positive (0.004). All PCGs were initiated by ATN codons, except for cytochrome c oxidase subunit 1 (cox1) gene which was initiated by CGA. Eight of the 13 PCGs have the incomplete termination codon, T or TA. All the tRNA genes displayed the typical clover-leaf structure of mitochondrial tRNAs, with the exception of trnS1 (AGN). The A?T-rich region was 328 bp in length and consisted of several features common to the Noctuidae insects. Phylogenetic analysis showed that the S. frugiperda was within the Noctuidae.
