      • A Partial Least Squares Path Model of Repurchase Intention in Smartphone-based Ride Hailing Service

        The aims of this study are applying the Perceived value model and employing the three factors defining service quality of information system from DeLone and McLean’s success model to identify the key factors affecting repurchase intention in smartphone-based ride hailing service. The research framework was examined with 427 valid respondents from Grab and Uber customers in Vietnam. Partial Least Square (PLS) employed to analyze the measurement and structural model. The statistical results support all seven proposed hypotheses. The study confirm that service quality and electronic service quality of information system are significant predictors of overall perceived service quality. In addition, when customer perceives the service quality outweighs their sacrifices, the perceived value increase, subsequently results in higher repurchase intention towards smartphone-based ride-hailing service. Overall, other variables account for 51.1% of variance of repurchase intention. The study confirms the relationships of the three variables represent the electronic service quality and service quality with the overall service quality, which directly effects to perceived value, considering a more comprehensive model for service in m-commerce context.

        The Relationship Between Business Resources, Outside Cooperation, Dynamic Capability, and Performance of Startup Enterprises

        This study seeks to examine the relationship between business resources (through VRIN: Valuable - valuable, Rare - scarce; Inimitable - difficult to adapt, Irreplaceable - hard to replace), dynamic capability, external cooperation, and efficiency of startups operating in the seafood export sector. Research data was collected randomly and conveniently from 250 enterprises in Ba Ria-Vung Tau province, Vietnam, from October 2020 to December 2020. After excluding those ineligible, the remaining 204 enterprises meet the research conditions. With the support of SPSS-AMOS 22 dedicated software, using the 5-step Likert scale and Structural Equation Modeling (SEM), the study conducted analysis steps such as verifying convergence, discriminant value, unidirectional and scale reliability when giving the components correlated freely in the critical model by Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA) analysis. Results of the study have shown that the enterprise resource factor - VRIN has a positive impact on dynamic capability, and outside cooperation. However, in contrast to previous studies, we found that the relationship between enterprise resources - VRIN and performance as well as the relationship between dynamics capacity and performance is not clear. This shows that seafood exporters need to promote, exploit and effectively use this precious resource to improve business efficiency.

        The Effectiveness of Financial Sources for Climate Change in Vietnam

        This research aims to give information about the current situation of five financial sources for climate change in Vietnam, including (i) the State budget used by ministries; (ii) the State budget used by provinces; (iii) Bilateral funds; (iv) Multilateral funds; and (v) Private funds, and then classify them in line with the effectiveness. The working paper’s secondary data on spending on CC-related activities, collected from reports of six ministries and 29 provinces, show that the State budget has been crucial in subsidizing CC-related activities in Vietnam. Moreover, domestic investment has accounted for a major part of the total expenditure of ministries and provinces for climate change. In addition, by using primary data collected from surveys sent to twelve experts from 5 groups, such as researchers, practical experts, managers of private funding organizations (such as banks and enterprises), managers of international funding organizations and beneficiaries, and then analyzing the data through the AHP method, the study shows that all climate finance sources in Vietnam are still not very effective. However, private sector funds are considered the most effective financial source for responding to climate change.

        Triterpenoid saponins from the roots of Rosa rugosa Thunb. as rat intestinal sucrase inhibitors

        Medicinal plants constitute an important sourceof potential therapeutic agents for diabetes. The purpose ofpresent study is to investigate the effect of root extract ofRosa rugosa Thunb. on inhibition of sucrase related todiabetes mellitus (DM). Bioassay-guided fractionation ofthe methanol extract led to the identification of 13 triterpenoidsaponins (1–13). Their structures were elucidatedon the basis of extensive spectroscopic analysis, including1D, 2D NMR, and MS. The n-butanol fraction showedpotent rat intestinal sucrase inhibitory activity with value of87.62 ± 5.84 % inhibition compared to the positive controlacarbose (50.96 ± 2.97 % inhibition at 0.02 mM). Subsequently, compounds 11–13 (1.0 mM) exhibited significantsucrase inhibitory activity, with inhibition percentagevalues of 41.17 ± 3.52, 46.80 ± 4.00, and39.39 ± 4.19 %, respectively. Whereas, compounds 2–6,8, and 10 showed moderate sucrase inhibitory activity(ranging from 13.26 ± 7.00 to 32.08 ± 6.04 % inhibition)at a same concentration. The data provide a starting pointfor creating new sucrase inhibitors, which may be usefulfor the development of effective therapies for the treatmentof DM.

        Uncovering the Antibacterial Potential of a Peptide-Rich Extract of Edible Bird’s Nest against Staphylococcus aureus

        The diverse pharmacological properties of edible bird’s nest (EBN) have been elucidated in recent years; however, investigations into its antibacterial effects are still limited. In the present study, we explored the antibacterial activity of a peptide-rich extract of EBN against Staphylococcus aureus, a notorious pathogen. The EBN extract (EEE) was prepared by soaking EBN in 80% ethanol for 2 days at 60°C. Biochemical analyses showed that peptides at the molecular weight range of 1.7-10 kDa were the major biochemical compounds in the EEE. The extract exhibited strong inhibition against S. aureus at a minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) of 125 μg/ml and a minimum bactericidal concentration (MBC) of 250 μg/ml. This activity could be attributed to the impact of the extract on cell membrane integrity and potential, biofilm formation, and reactive oxidative species (ROS) production. Notably, the expression of biofilm- and ROS-associated genes, including intercellular adhesion A (icaA), icaB, icaC, icaD, and superoxide dismutase A (sodA), were deregulated in S. aureus upon the extract treatment. Our findings indicate a noteworthy pharmacological activity of EBN that could have potential application in the control of S. aureus.

        Additions to the Knowledge of the Genus Phimenes (Hymenoptera: Vespidae: Eumeninae) from Vietnam

        The solitary wasp genus Phimenes (Hymenoptera: Vespidae: Eumeninae) was reported to occur in Vietnam by , represented by one taxon, Phimenes flavopictus continentalis (Zimmermann), which was synonymized under nominotypical Phimenes flavopictus by . A note on gender of this genus is made in the text. One more species, Phimenes indosinensis is recorded in this study from Dak Lak in the southern and Son La in the northwestern parts of Vietnam for the first time. Detailed descriptions of the female and male of the latter are provided with figures. A key to the two species from Vietnam is also provided.

        Inhibition of NF-jB transcriptional activation in HepG2 cells by diterpenoids from the soft coral Sinularia maxima

        Anti-inflammatory transcriptional effects ofnineteen compounds (1–19) from the soft coral Sinulariamaxima were evaluated using NF-jB luciferase and reversetranscriptase polymerase chain reaction. Compounds 1, 2,4, 8, 15, 17, and 18 significantly inhibited TNFa-inducedNF-jB transcriptional activity in HepG2 cells in a dosedependentmanner, with IC50 values ranging from15.81 ± 2.29 to 29.10 ± 1.54 lM. Furthermore, the transcriptionalinhibitory function of these compounds wasconfirmed by a decrease in intercellular adhesion molecule-1 and inducible nitric oxide synthase gene expressionlevels in HepG2 cells. These results provide a scientificrationale for the use of the soft coral S. maxima warrantfurther studies to develop new agents for the preventionand treatment of inflammatory.

        Effects of Supplemental Green LEDs to Red and Blue Light on the Growth, Yield and Quality of Hydroponic Cultivated Spinach (Spinacia oleracea L.) in Plant Factory

        본 연구는 폐쇄형 식물공장에서 시금치 수경재배시 세가지의 인공광이 생육, 광합성 및 품질에 미치는 영향을 규명하기 위해 수행되었다. 세가지 광 처리구는 적색 (660nm), 청색 (450nm) 및 녹색 (550nm) LED를 사용하여, R660 / B450 = 4/1 (RBL), R660 / B450 / G550 = 5/2/3 (WWL); R660 / B450 / G550 = 1/1/1 (WL) 비율로 혼합하였고, 동일한 광도로 설정하였다 (PPFD = 190 μmol‧m<SUP>-2</SUP>‧s<SUP>-1</SUP>). 생육조사결과 초장, 엽수는 WL이 가장 적었다. SPAD, 순광합성율, Fv/Fm, LAI, 근권부 생육은 RBL이 가장 높았고 통계적으로 유의하였다. 줄기, 잎, 뿌리의 생체중, 뿌리의 건물 중은 세가지 처리구에서 유의한 차이를 보였다. 대조적으로 WL의 칼륨의 함량은 WWL과 RBL 가운데 가장 높았지만, 반면 칼륨과 철의 함량은 RBL이 가장 높았다. 비타민C 함량도 시험구간 유의한 차이를 보였다. 질소와 옥살산 함량은 WL이 가장 높았고, 용해성 고체와 비타민C 함량은 RBL이 가장 높았다. 옥살산, 질소 함량은 WWL에서 감소하는 경향을 보였고, RBL의 옥살산 함량은 WL와 WWL과 차이가 없었다. 모든 처리구에서 Salmonella, E.coli. 는 감염되지 않았다. 결론적으로, RBL이 시금치의 생육에 적합하지만, 적색, 청색과 적정하게 혼합된 녹색광은 시금치의 생육에 긍정적인 영향을 미친다고 판단된다. The effect of three different light qualities on growth, photosynthesis, quality and safe parameters of hydroponic cultivated spinach (Spinacia oleracea L.) were investigated indoor. Three different light qualities were created of red (660 nm), blue (450 nm) and green (550 nm) LEDs corresponding at ratio R660/B450 = 4/1 (RBL); R660/B450/G550= 5/2/3 (WWL); R660/B450/G550 = 1/1/1 (WL), which were tested at the same intensity (PPFD =190 μmol m-2 s-1). The results showed that the plant height and leaf number were the lowest in WL treatment. The SPAD, Net photosynthesis rate Pn, Fv/Fm, Leaf area index LAI values and all parameters of root characteristics were the highest in RBL treatment and were significantly different from two others. Fresh weight of stem, leaf and root, dry weight of root in the three light qualities were significantly different. In contrast, the highest K<SUP>+</SUP> content in WL was different from WWL and RBL treatments, while Ca<SUP>2+</SUP> and Fe<SUP>2+</SUP> content were the highest in the RBL treatment. Vitamin C content was significantly different between the three treatments. nitrate and oxalic acid contents were the highest in WL treatment, whereas soluble–solids contents and vitamin C contents were the highest in RBL treatment. Oxalic acid, nitrate contents were observed tending reduced under WWL although oxalic acid content in RBL treatment was not different from WL and WWL treatments. In all three different light treatments were not detected Salmonella, E.coli. Our results suggest that RBL may be appropriate light for growth of spinach, but supplementary green light to a combination of red and blue LEDs at the reasonable rate can change the quality of spinach in a positive direction. Hydroponic cultivated spinach was safe for users.

        E-commerce Adoption in Distribution: An Empirical Study on Household Businesses in Food and Beverage Industry

        Purpose: This study aims to identify factors affecting the adoption of e-commerce by household businesses in Vietnam's food and beverage industry. Research design, data and methodology: The integrated TAM and TOE frameworks and ten hypotheses were developed to test the relationship between relevant factors. A cross-sectional survey was conducted to collect valid data from 992 respondents who run F&B household businesses in Vietnam. Results: The empirical research results confirm all proposed hypotheses that e-commerce adoption is affected by the perceived usefulness, the perceived ease of use, vendor support partners, social expectancy, competitive pressure, subjective norm, and household resources. Meanwhile, technical readiness, environment readiness, and organization readiness are intermediate variables that influence the implementation of e-commerce in food and beverage distribution. Conclusions: The findings suggest effective orientations to foster the food and beverage e-trading practice for household businesses in developing countries. Accordingly, to encourage private household businesses to adopt e-commerce, it is necessary to focus on improving business resources, technology readiness, environment readiness, and organization readiness through raising awareness of usefulness, benefits, perceived ease of use, and increased support of vendor partners. Future research can focus on improving the efficiency of e-commerce applications in F&B distribution for both household businesses and larger-scale enterprises.

        Cytotoxic and anti-tumor activities of lignans from the seeds of Vietnamese nutmeg Myristica fragrans

        Four lignans, meso-dihydroguaiaretic acid(DHGA), macelignan, fragransin A2 and nectandrin B,were isolated from the seeds of Myristica fragrans (Vietnamesenutmeg) and investigated for their cytotoxicactivity against eight cancer cell lines. Of these, DHGAexhibited potent cytotoxicity against H358 with IC50 valueof 10.1 lM. In addition, DHGA showed antitumor activityin allogeneic tumor-bearing mice model.
