LPV/H ∞ CONTROLLER DESIGN FOR PATH TRACKING OF AUTONOMOUS GROUND VEHICLES THROUGH FOUR-WHEEL STEERING AND DIRECT YAW-MOMENT CONTROL

Peng Hang,Xinbo Chen,Fengmei Luo 한국자동차공학회 2019 International journal of automotive technology Vol.20 No.4

This paper focuses on the path-tracking controller design for autonomous ground vehicles (AGVs) using fourwheel steering (4WS) and direct yaw-moment control (DYC) systems. In order to deal with the parametric uncertainties, a linear parameter-varying (LPV) H∞ controller is designed as the high-level controller to generate the front and rear wheel steering angles and external yaw moment based on linear matrix inequality (LMI) approach. The lower-level controller is designed for torque allocation between the left and right side wheels to yield the desired total longitudinal force and external yaw moment utilizing weighted least square (WLS) allocation algorithm. To test the performance of the proposed pathtracking controller, numerical simulations are carried out based on a high-fidelity and full-vehicle model constructed in CarSim. Simulation results show that the LPV/H∞ controller has better path-tracking performance than the fixed gain H∞ controller. To show the superiority of 4WS+DYC control system, the contrast simulation is performed based on LPV/H∞ controller. Simulation results indicate that 4WS+DYC control system has better path-tracking performance and handling stability than active front steering (AFS), AFS+DYC and 4WS control systems.

ROBUST CONTROL FOR FOUR-WHEEL-INDEPENDENT-STEERING ELECTRIC VEHICLE WITH STEER-BY-WIRE SYSTEM

        Peng Hang,Xinbo Chen,Shude Fang,Fengmei Luo 한국자동차공학회 2017 International journal of automotive technology Vol.18 No.5

A four-wheel-independent-steering (4WIS) electric vehicle (EV) with steer-by-wire (SBW) system is proposed in this paper. The fast terminal sliding mode controller (FTSMC) is designed for the SBW system to suppress external disturbances. Taking unstructured and structured uncertainties into consideration, a robust controller is designed for the 4WIS EV utilizing μ synthesis approach and the controller order reduction is implemented based on Hankel-Norm approximation. Since sideslip angle is the feedback signal of robust controller and it is hard to measure, the extended Kalman filter (EKF) is employed to estimate sideslip angle. To evaluate the vehicle performance with the designed control system, step and sinusoidal steering maneuvers are simulated and analyzed. Simulation results show that the designed control system have good tracking ability, strong robust stability and good robust performance to improve vehicle stability and handing performance.

THE EVOLUTION OF BARYONIC MASS OF ELLIPTICAL GALAXIES IN THE SLOAN DIGITAL SKY SURVEY

        PENG, TING-HUNG,KOY, CHUNG-MING,TIAN, YONG,CHEN, CHEN-HUNG The Korean Astronomical Society 2015 天文學論叢 Vol.30 No.2

Stellar mass is an important parameter of galaxies. We estimate the dynamical mass of an elliptical galaxy by its velocity dispersion and effective radius using the Hernquist model in the framework of MOdified Newtonian Dynamics (MOND). MOND is an alternative theory to the dark matter paradigm. In MOND the dynamical mass is the same as the baryonic mass or luminous mass, and in elliptical galaxies most of the baryons reside in stars. We select elliptical galaxies between redshift 0.05 and 0.5 from the main galaxy sample and the luminous red galaxy sample in the Sloan Digital Sky Survey. We find that the stellar mass-to-light ratio at different redshift epochs can be fitted by a gamma distribution, and its mean is smaller at smaller redshifts.

      • ENGAGING CULTURAL DESTINATION TOURISTS WITH ON-SITE ACTIVITIES

        Kuang-peng Hung,Norman Peng,Annie Chen 글로벌지식마케팅경영학회 2018 Global Marketing Conference Vol.2018 No.07

Scholars, policymakers, and cultural organizations have studied cultural tourism destinations (e.g., historical, artistic, or lifestyle/heritage offerings) from different perspectives since the late 1990s. However, the current tourism literature contains gaps can be further narrowed by studying cultural tourism destinations from tourists’ perspectives. To narrow the gaps in the literature, this study adapted the M-R model to examine the influence of experimental value variables (i.e., service staff excellence, aesthetic, playfulness, and consumer return on investment) on tourists’ satisfaction. Additionally, it investigates how on-site activity involvement moderates the relationship between tourists’ satisfaction and their sense of belonging. Drawing on a survey of over 500 Taiwanese tourists, our findings reveal that service staff excellence, aesthetics, and playfulness influence tourist’ satisfaction, which in turn, can affect their sense of belonging. Furthermore, sense of belong can positively affect tourists’ behavioral intentions, which is measured by their intentions to revisited and recommend. As for the moderating effect of on-site activity involvement, this research find it can positively moderate the relationship between satisfaction and sense of belonging. Several implications of the study are identified, and avenues for future research are suggested.

      • MANAGING SALES TEAMS STRATEGICALLY WHEN PROMOTING NEW PRODUCTS- INCORPORATING MARKET ORIENTATION INTO A SALES MANAGEMENT CONTROL FRAMEWORK

        Annie Chen,Norman Peng,Kuang-peng Hung 글로벌지식마케팅경영학회 2014 Global Marketing Conference Vol.2014 No.4

New product promotion is an expensive and time-consuming process that suffers from a high failure rate. Scholars have examined the relationships between product introduction and sales force management, but the importance of the sales force in selling new products can still be further explored (Fu, Richards, , Hughes, , & Jones, 2010; Spanjol, Tam, Qualls, & Bohlmann 2011). The purpose of this paper is to examine the influence of perceived sales management controls on a salesperson’s new products sales performance (i.e., electronic goods) in a business-to-business context. In addition, the direct, mediated, and moderating influences of market orientation on sales performance will also be investigated.Through the literature reviewed (e.g., Evans, Landry, Li, & Zou, 2007; Matsuo, 2009; Matear, Osborne, Garrett, & Gray, 2002), this paper proposes its hypotheses. In terms of the antecedents of sales performance, this research focuses on the effects of innovativeness (Matsuo, 2009). Second, based on the works of Evans et al. (2007) and Matsuo (2009), this study proposes that management controls (i.e., behavior-based control, knowledge-based control, and output-based control) both directly and indirectly affect sales department performance by first influencing innovativeness. Third, this research intends to examine the effect of organization psychological climate, which is market orientation, on the innovativeness and performance of sales departments (Matear et al., 2002). Finally, this study investigates the moderating effects of an organization’s market orientation on the relationship between sales innovativeness and performance (Matear et al., 2002).EMBA and MBA students were recruited as interviewers to gather data. The companies involved in this study were electronics product manufacturers that were publicly listed on the Taiwan Stock Exchange. A total of 315 complete responses were obtained. The target research question was “what are the determinants of a sales department’s new product sales performance?” This study used partial least squares (PLS) to examine the proposed model. This research found that sales department innovativeness is positively linked with new product sales performance. For the effectiveness of management controls, the results show that sales management controls (i.e., output-based control, behavior-based control, and knowledge-based control) positively affect department innovativeness but cannot influence performance directly. As for marketing orientation’s influences, this current research confirmed an organization’s market orientation-ness cannot positively affect sales department’s innovativeness and performance when selling new product. However, market orientation can positively moderate the relationship between innovativeness and performance. Based on the findings of this research, managerial implications have been put forth.

Waterlogging influences the physiology index and antioxidant enzyme activity in Cucurbita maxima and Cucurbita moschata

        Lin Kuan-Hung,Chen Shi-Peng,Su Yi-Ru,Tsai Yi-Heng,Lin Hsin-Hung 한국원예학회 2024 Horticulture, Environment, and Biotechnology Vol.65 No.1

Waterlogging is one of the major environmental challenges that can adversely impact squash growth, development, and productivity. Nevertheless, studies on the physiological changes of squash to waterlogging stress are scarce. Previously, we reported that the Cucurbita moschata (Cmo) Early Price (Ep) cultivar showed higher chlorophyll content (CC) and spectral refl ectance compared to the Cucurbita maxima (Cma) OK-101 (Ok) cultivar after waterlogging. In the present work, we further examined more physiological parameters in eight cultivars of Cmo and Cma, and studied whether these non-destruc tive indices could effi ciently identify various waterlogging-tolerant genotypes and were consistent with visual evaluations. Moreover, we investigated the eff ects of waterlogging on the antioxidant system of cucurbit species, and evaluated dynamic changes occurring in these plants during varying waterlog periods by determining physiological characteristics. The activ ity of ascorbate peroxidase (APX) and superoxide dismutase (SOD) showed a signifi cant increase in Ep plant leaves and roots after 72 h and 6 h of waterlogging, respectively, compared to Ok plants. In addition, Ep exhibited a higher tolerance to waterlogging than Ok in terms of enhanced root length, values in CC, spectral refl ectance, and APX and SOD activity, plus decreased levels of electrolyte leakage, 2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl free radical scavenging, and hydrogen peroxide levels. This study provides a comprehensive understanding of the physiological variations in response to waterlogging stress and can potentially be used to breed cucurbit species with waterlogging tolerance for a wetter future climate.

Fracture behavior of fly ash concrete containing silica fume

        Peng Zhang,Ji-Xiang Gao,Xiao-Bing Dai,Tian-Hang Zhang,Juan Wang 국제구조공학회 2016 Structural Engineering and Mechanics, An Int'l Jou Vol.59 No.2

Effect of silica fume on fresh properties, compressive strength at 28 days and fracture behavior of fly ash concrete composite were studied in this paper. Test results indicated that the fluidity and flowability of fly ash concrete composites decreased and fly ash concrete composite are more cohesive and appear to be sticky with the addition of silica fume. Addition of silica fume was very effective in improving the compressive strength at 28 days of fly ash concrete composite, and the compressive strength of fly ash concrete composite has a trend of increase with the increase of silica fume content. Results also indicated that all the fracture parameters of effective crack length, fracture toughness, fracture energy, the critical crack opening displacement and the maximum crack opening displacement of fly ash concrete composite decreased with the addition of silica fume. When the content of silica fume increased from 3% to 12%, these fracture parameters decreased gradually with the increase of silica fume content. Furthermore, silica fume had great effect on the relational curves of the three-point bending beam specimen. As the silica fume content increased from 3% to 12%, the areas surrounded by the three relational curves and the axes were becoming smaller and smaller, which indicated that the capability of concrete composite containing fly ash to resist crack propagation was becoming weaker and weaker.

Ultraviolet-Ozone Treatment for Effectively Removing Adhesive Residue on Graphene

        Hang Yang,ShiQiao Qin,GANG PENG,Xiaoming Zheng,Xueao Zhang 성균관대학교(자연과학캠퍼스) 성균나노과학기술원 2016 NANO Vol.11 No.12

In this paper, we systematically investigated the influence of adhesive residue existing in deterministic transfer process upon graphene, and put forward a rapid and effective way named ultraviolet-ozone (UVO) treatment to reduce this negative effect. Results indicate that this adhesive residue may cause poor contact between metal and graphene, thus greatly degrading the performance of the device. However, this unpleasant influence could be reduced effectively by adopting UVO treatment. This work may be helpful to fabricate higher performance functional devices based on two-dimensional materials by removal of the adhesive residue.

A20 ameliorates disc degeneration by suppressing mTOR/BNIP3 axis-mediated mitophagy

        Peng Xin,Zhang Cong,Gao Jia-Wei,Wang Feng,Bao Jun-Ping,Zhou Zhi-Min,Sun Rui,Ji Hang-Yu,VLF Cabral,Wu Xiao-Tao 한국유전학회 2023 Genes & Genomics Vol.45 No.5

Background The pathological mechanism of intervertebral disc degeneration (IDD) is an unanswered question that we are committed to exploring. A20 is an anti-inflammatory protein of nucleus pulposus (NP) cells and plays a protective role in intervertebral disc degeneration. Objective This study aims to investigate the molecular mechanism by which A20 attenuates disc degeneration. Methods The proteins of interest were measured by immunoblotting, immunofluorescence, ELISA assay, and immunohistochemical technique to conduct related experiments. Immunofluorescence assays and mitochondrial membrane potential (JC-1) were used to assess mitophagy and mitochondrial fitness, respectively. Results Here, we demonstrated that A20 promoted mitophagy, attenuated pyroptosis, and inhibited the degradation of the extracellular matrix, consequently significantly ameliorating disc degeneration. Mechanistically, A20 reduces pyroptosis and further suppresses cellular mTOR activity. On the one hand, A20-induced mTOR inhibition triggers BNIP3-mediated mitophagy to ensure mitochondrial fitness under LPS stimulation, as a result of mitigating mitochondrial dysfunction induced by LPS. On the other hand, A20-induced mTOR inhibition reduces the loss of mitochondrial membrane potential and the generation of Mitochondrial ROS. Conclusion The study revealed that A20 promotes BNIP3-mediated mitophagy by suppressing mTOR pathway activation against LPS-induced pyroptosis.

        3.2-kW 9.7-GHz Polarization-maintaining Narrow-linewidth All-fiber Amplifier

        Hang Liu,Yujun Feng,Xiaobo Yang,Yao Wang,Hongming Yu,Jue Wang,Wanjing Peng,Yanshan Wang,Yinhong Sun,Yi Ma,Qingsong Gao,Chun Tang 한국광학회 2024 Current Optics and Photonics Vol.8 No.1

We present a Yb-doped narrow-linewidth polarization-maintaining (PM) all-fiber amplifier that achieves a high mode-instability (MI) threshold, high output power, and 9.7-GHz spectral linewidth. Six wavelength-multiplexed laser diodes are used to pump this amplifier. First, we construct a high-power fiber amplifier based on a master oscillator-power amplifier (MOPA) configuration for experiments. Subsequently, we examine the MI threshold by individually pumping the amplifier with wavelengths of 976, 974, 981, 974, and 981 nm respectively. The experimental results demonstrate that the amplifier exhibits a high MI threshold (>3.5 kW) when pumped with a combination of wavelengths at 974 and 981 nm. Afterward, we inject an optimized phase-modulated seed with a nearly flat-top spectrum into this amplifier. Ultimately, laser output of 3.2 kW and 9.7 GHz are obtained.
