        A Framework of Design and Process Plan Support System Using SEA++ : 공정계획 지원시스템의 연계

        In this paper, we shows the implementation case based on SEA+ tool, which is under development process for constructing applications. The SEA+ provides the programming environment for the development of distributed manufacturing applications primarily. The development tool is classified into VCO(Visual Component), LCO(Logic Component), DCO(Data Component), KCO(Knowledge Component), NCO(Neural net Component), and SCO(Service Component). We applied the tool to the domain of the design and process plan to retrieve existing similar design models in database, initiate a model, generate a process plan, and store the new model in the database automatically. Utilizing the SEA+, it integrates a geometric modeler, engineering/manufacturing database, and knowledge sources over the Internet.

      • Collabonomics in Medical Service Organizations

        최근 인터넷 정보기술의 역동적 발전에 따라 혁신적인 의료경영 패러다임의 변화가 목격되고 있다. 특히 협업경제학을 주제로 한 관련기술의 발달 및 의료조직의 정보기술 기반의 협업에 대한 관심은 그 동안 적체되어 온 의료기관 및 연계산업 정보화의 진전을 획기적으로 끌어올리며 차세대 패러다임으로써 강력한 촉매제로 작용하고 있다. 이러한 동기에서 본 논문에서는 보건의료에서의 협업경제학의 개념과 접근 방법론을 살펴보고 이를 기반으로 모델링 방법론을 제시하였다. Collabonomics has become a major practice in the world class healthcare industries, both small and large organizations are increasingly adopting the philosophy in all the organizations’ activities to shorten required health service time while maintaining higher service quality and lower service costs. These changes have forced the organizations to consider wide improvement of their activities and to adopt the use of new spectrum in all the healthcare organizations’ operations. From this motivation, this paper studies on the healthcare collabonomics concept and investigates approaches for the philosophy.

      • A Simultaneous Engineering Technology to Enhance Customer Satisfactions

        In this paper, we propose a simultaneous engineering system in which decisions on product design, process design and manufacturing system design are simultaneously made at an initial phase of product development period. The proposed system consists of four major modules; product design module, system design module and central control module. The product design module develops a prototype of a knowledge-based design decision process using a feature based solid modeling system. The feature-based product model data are transferred to the process design module to provide a generative process plan including manufacturing process selection, tool selection, technical parameter determination, and operation sequencing. The system design module constructs an animated simulation model to establish performance measurese, diagnose system performance, detect any bottleneck processes, and eventually propose the optimal system layout. Finally, the central control module contains a control manager and a blackboard to provide primary controls of redesign processes and resolution of conflicts which may occur in the simultaneous design decisions among three major modules. Since simultaneous engineering has become a major product development practice of the new millenium years in the business to business world class manufacturing, both small and large manufacturers are increasingly adopting the philosophy in designing and developing new products to shorten product development time while maintaining higher product quality and lower manufacturing costs.

      • A Feature Extraction Algorithm for Process Planning

        This paper is to provide an integration approach between design and process planning for mechanical parts ,using feature recognition. We develop a method to extract each individual feature of an object from 3D modeling data using face-edge graph based algorithm and then propose an approach to recognize the volumic form features using heuristic rules. We demonstrate the proposed approaches are effective for such basic shapes as pocket, slot, through hole, etc.

        Distributed Processes Control in Design and Manufacturing

        This paper is to develop an information infrastructure to support managing process in design, planning, production, and quality control. Multi-media data set of design, product, and management information flow between organizational units of a virtual enterprise. The process is the logical organization of people, technology and practices incorporated into work activities to make an end product. The core of the infrastructure is the enterprise framework which coordinates activities and controls the process. The proposed framework manages collaborative activities across space and time, and between users and computers who share information in virtual community. It utilizes knowledge distributed through virtual community and fosters cooperation between organizations. The framework provides the following facilities; coordinating activities, sharing data and processes, visualizing multi-media data, customizing and updating processes, reusing data and processes. This paper covers design and manufacturing activities but our focus is initially targeted at design area.

        Integration of Product Design and Process Planning Using Group Technology based on CE

        This paper presentes a group technology-based approach to producing a new design from a generic template without human intervention. A retrieval and model generating expert system was implemented as a prototype using expert system CAD geometric models, and database management system. The proposed system shows a prototype system integrating a geometric modeler, a database, and a knowledge base system, which generates group technology codes to retrieve existing similar design models in database, initiate a model, generate a process plan, and store the new model in the database automatically We also demonstrate the knowledge based system which is one of the powerful tools applied to integration of design and manufacturing, and the system can be integrated with databases and CAD/CAM systems to implement concurrent engineering environment.

        An Effective Framework for Developing Medical Collaborative Systems

        실시간 협업 부족에서 발행되는 진단 오류는 의료과실의 주요원인으로, 질병이나 의학적 증세를 부정확하거나 적시에 협업진단하지 못하여 발생한다. 치료가 늦어지는 것이 가장 큰 문제이며, 의료기관에 치명적 손실을 유발시킨다. 이러한 환자안전은 주치의 개인 책임 아닌 총체적 협업 시스템부재에서 기인된다. 최근 대내외적인 지속적 의료 환경 변화는 의료 기관내부의 실시간적 쌍방향 협업 제고를 위한 혁신적 시스템의 중요성을 강화하고 있다. 이에 따라 대형 상급종합병원 중심으로 신규 의료, 의료지원 및 행정 영역 간에 상호 협업적 커뮤니케이션 기반으로 의료의 질, 비용, 접근성을 높이고 의료적 사고율을 현격히 낮추고 있다. 이를 체계화하기 위한 접근방법으로 혁신적 협업 중심의 시스템을 도입하고 있으나, 개발 및 운영방안에 대한 연구는 부족한 실정이다. 이에 본 논문은 MCC (Medical Collaborative Communication)의 배경 및 기존연구와 이를 구현하기위한 방법론을 제시하고 이를 기반으로 구현 도구를 개발하여, MCC 시스템 프레임워크를 제시 하였다. 본 제안 시스템 및 프레임워크는 유사 의료기관의 관련 시스템도입을 위한 진단과 실행방안에도 활용할 수 있을 것이다. Collaboration errors may occur improper diagnosis and delayed or improper medical treatments. Current medical organizations still face increasing challenges to meet the collaboration needs in the diversified medical role groups. Therefore, collaboration concerns in medical organization have been a front burner issue. Medical collaborative system has become a major practice in the leading class healthcare industries; large organizations are increasingly adopting the philosophy in all their collaborative activities to shorten required health service time while maintaining higher medical service quality and lower service overall costs. These changes have forced the organizations to consider wide improvement of their healthcare activities and to adopt the use of new spectrum. From this motivation, this paper studies on the medical collaborative concept and investigates approaches for the philosophy. To meet the demands, a framework for the medical collaborative system in large scaled healthcare institutions is proposed as an enabling tool. The findings and insights are expected to help medical organizations to adopt their competitive system strategies.
