      • An Analysis on the Relationships between Port Selection Factors

        The world economy has came into unlimited competition with globalization since 1990. Opening markets to the world is in progress through the expansion of world free trade and internationalization of multinational enterprises. In the maritime transportation for world trade, shipping companies pursue "Hub & Spoke" strategy so a port which is not able to be located as a hub port is degraded as a feeder port. To attract shipping companies, it is necessary for existing ports to provide differentiated service. This paper devises marketing strategies for a competitive port after evaluating relation among the factors affecting port selection when a shipping company chooses a port of call. On the basis of determinants derived from existing researches, we study the relation as well as importance among the factors of port selection.

        Supercapacitive properties of composite electrodes consisting of activated carbon and 1,4-dihydroxynaphthalene derivatives

        <P><B>Abstract</B></P> <P>Two 1,4-dihydoxynaphthalene (PhQH<SUB>2</SUB>)-based derivatives (coded as HBU-551 and HBU-552) are synthesized by reacting with different amines (i.e., tryptamine and phenethylamine, respectively) to use as organic additives of activated carbon supercapacitors. The composite electrodes with HBU-551 and HBU-552 are also prepared by blending with the ratio of 70:25w/w, and their supercapacitive properties are investigated in terms of redox behaviors and specific capacitance evolutions against scan rate and cycle life. The organic additives and their composites with activated carbon are dominantly characterized by PhQ-PhQH<SUB>2</SUB> redox transition accompanying a two-electron two-proton process, and weakly affected by reversible redox reaction of nitrogen in the NH group, which involves an additional one-electron one-proton process. Thus, the composite electrodes show higher specific capacitance over 210Fg<SUP>−1</SUP> due to the synergistic effect between activated carbon (pseudocapacitance) and organic additives (redox behavior). Cycle performance and high-rate capability can also be enhanced by the adoption of PhQH<SUB>2</SUB>-based organic additives for their pore-filling morphology to increase the packing density of composite electrodes.</P> <P><B>Highlights</B></P> <P> <UL> <LI> Two 1,4-dihydoxynaphthalene-based derivatives are newly synthesized. </LI> <LI> Their composite electrodes with activated carbon achieved specific capacitance of 210Fg<SUP>−1</SUP>. </LI> <LI> Synergistic effect between pseudocapacitance and the redox behavior of organic additives was shown. </LI> </UL> </P>

        세계항만.해운 시장은 역동적으로 변화하고 있으며, 현재 9.000TEU급 선박이 취항하여 정기 서비스를 시작하고 있으며 이러한 환경속에 세계항만들은 선도적인 위치를 차지하기 위하여 엄청난 자금을 투입하고, 법.제도 등의 규제를 완화하고 있다. 이러한 큰 물결속에 항만물류산업의 중요성이 커지고 있으며, 이는 항만선택 시 고려되는 서비스질의 향상과도 깊은 관련이 있다. 항만물류산업의 한 분야라고 할 수 있는 검수는 없어서는 안되는 중요한 요소이나 그 중요성이 간과되고 있는 실정이다. 또한 아직 검수에 대한 논문이나 보고서 등을 찾아볼 수 없는 현 상황에서 본 논문은 현재 국내 검수에 대한 현황조사 및 설문을 통한 분석을 실시하고 향후 국내 검수업이 나아가야 할 방향을 제시해 보고자 한다. World port and shipping market are changing dynamically, now 9,000TEU vessel made a maiden voyage and served liner service. So world ports try to occupy leading position and they are changing their regulations and law. Because port logistics industry's importance is bigger than before and when shipping companies select port, it is related with improvement of service quality. Tally is indispensable element in port logistics industry but overlooking its importance. Also, now we can't find any papers or reports about tally, so this paper suggests the direction that go forward about domestic tally guideline through present condition through investigation and question's analysis.

        국내 중소형 항만의 경쟁력 확보 방안에 관한 연구 : 전라도 항만을 중심으로

        물류환경의 급격한 변화와 함께 항만을 둘러싼 환경도 빠르게 변화하고 있다. 이와 같은 항만환경의 급격한 변화는 동북아지역을 중심으로 한 전 세계 컨테이너 물동량의 급속한 증가, 정기선사의 경영전략 변화, 부두운영업의 글로벌화, 물류중심화 선점을 위한 경쟁 격화, 선박기술의 혁신 등으로 나타나고 있다. 항만의 운영?관리 책임자들은 이러한 변화를 예측하고 이에 신속히 대응하여 항만경쟁력을 확보하기 위하여 노력을 경주하고 있다. 국내외를 연결하는 항만 간 경쟁은 국제적인 것이 일반적이어서 우리나라 항만뿐만 아니라 이웃나라 항만과의 경쟁에서도 우위를 확보해야만 한다. 특히 우리나라 항만은 전 세계적으로 항만 간 경쟁이 가장 치열한 동북아 지역에 위치하고 있어 더욱 강력한 경쟁력을 확보하지 못한다면 항만 간 경쟁에서 뒤처져 국제무대에서 사라질 수밖에 없다. 이에 본 논문에서는 일반적인 항만을 중심으로 이루어진 항만선택결정요인에 대한 기존 연구들을 살펴보고 이를 재고찰하여 중소형 항만에 적용시킬 수 있는 요인을 도출하여 향후 이들 항만의 경쟁력 확보 방안을 제시하고자 한다. As the environment of Logistics is changing rapidly, the environment of port is also changing. Accordingly, rapid change within port environment appears as the increase of the volume for world wide cargo, liner ship owners' strategy shift, globalization of terminals, heavy competitions to become a hub of Logistics, development of ship engineering. Therefore, the people who are responsible for the operations and managements of ports foresee such changes and accordingly react to ensure competitiveness. As the competition among ports generally goes international, a port needs to be sure that they become superior to any other port regardless of whether it's outside their country or not. Especially Korea is located in the most heavily competitive area which is Far-East. So if we fail to get competitiveness against the other ports, it goes without saying that our ports will be defeated by them. In brief, this paper will discuss the history of study regarding the factors by which a port is selected and also suggest some of elements which can be applied to small ports in the future of it.

World ports and shipping markets are changing dynamically. The 9,000TEUs classed container vessels are avaiable to enter service now so liner services are ready to start. With regard to the changing environment, the world ports ease regulations as well as invest funds to be leading ports. As a result, the importance of port logistics industry is getting bigger than before. It has an effect on improvement of service quality when a shipping company selects a port. The importance of tally, one of the necessary elements in the port logistics industry ís overlooked and there is no researches for tally yet. This paper suggests plans for the development of domestic tally after the investigations and analysis of survey are conducted.

        A hydrogel electrolyte consisting of 6 M KOH aqueous solution, potassium polyacrylate (PAAK, 3 wt.%), and a hydrophilic silica OX50 (1 wt.%) was prepared to use as an electrolyte medium coated on a Scimat separator of activated carbon supercapacitor. The silica particle distributed homogeneously on surface pores of the separator to increase ionic conductivity and electrochemical stability of the hydrogel electrolyte. The silica addition also involved superior specific capacitance even at higher scan rates due to decrease in interfacial resistance between hydrogel electrolyte and activated carbon electrode.

        A Study on the Application of RFID to Container Terminals

        The container terminals in Korea usually adopts both the bar code and the image recognition systems at the gate complex to capture necessary information on containers passing through the gate. With the rapid advancement of Information Technology(IT) these systems, however, seem to make the user not satisfied due to the inherent limitations such as the long process time taken, low rate of recognition etc., This paper, therefore, examines the adoption of Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) technology to container terminals, and tried to get some implication for the way to improve the productivity of the terminal. The results imply that some improvement in the gate and storage yard operation is feasible by the benefit of using the information of vehicles and containers collected in advance by RFID technology.

        사람의 섬유아세포 엘라스타제 활성에 대한 탄닌산의 억제 효과

        피부에서 엘라스틴(elastin)은 중요한 탄력섬유의 구성성분 중의 하나이다. 피부주름(skin wrinkle) 형성은 콜라겐(collagen)의 합성과 분해가 중요한 요인으로 작용한다고 알려져 있지만, 최근 많은 연구에서 엘라스틴의 재형성과 분해 또한 주름형성 기전에서 중요한 작용을 하는 것으로 보고되고 있다. 엘라스타제(elastase)는 엘라스틴을 분해하는 일종의 메탈로프로테이나제(metalloproteinase)이며, 자외선 B (ultraviolet B, UVB) 조사 후에 활성이 증가하는 것으로 알려져 있다. 따라서 증가된 엘라스타제의 활성은 피부의 탄력성 감소와 주름 형성의 주요한 원인이 될 것이다. 본 연구에서는 항산화 효과가 있으며, 각종 견과류나 과일에 함유된 폴리페놀(polyphenol)성분인 탄닌산(tannic acid)을 사람의 섬유아세포(CCD-25Sk fibroblasts)에 처리하여 엘라스타제 활성과 트로포엘라스틴 생성에 미치는 영향을 조사하였다. 탄닌산은 농도의존적으로 사람의 섬유아세포 엘라스타제 활성을 유의성 있게 억제시켰다. 그러나 트로포엘라스틴 합성이나 발현증가에는 유의성 있는 효과를 보이지 않았다. 이러한 결과들로부터 탄닌산은 엘라스타제의 활성을 억제시켜 엘라스틴의 3차원적 구조를 유지하는데 기여하는 것으로 사료된다. 따라서 탄닌산은 주름생성을 억제하는 물질로 개발 가능할 것으로 기대된다. Elastin is an important component of elastic fibers in the skin. Recently, many studies have reported that elastin is also involved in inhibiting or repairing wrinkle formation, although collagen is a major factor in the skin wrinkle formation. Elastase is a metalloproteinase which acts on degradation of elastin. It is known that elastase activity is increased by ultraviolet (UV) B radiation. Thus, increased elastase activity could be the major reason for skin elasticity reduction and winkle formation. Tannic acid is a polyphenol found in various fruits and nuts. This molecule has a potent ability to eliminate reactive oxygen species and reactive nitrogen species. In the present study, we investigated whether tannic acid has effects on elastase activity and tropoelastin synthesis. Our results showed that tannic acid reduced elastase activity significantly in a dose-dependent manner. However, the expression of tropoelastin protein and mRNA was not significantly affected by tannic acid. From these results, we suggest that tannic acid may contribute to block tortuosity of elastic fibers by inhibiting elastase. Thus, tannic acid might be developed for a possible agent to inhibit skin aging.

        Lithium-silica nanosalt as a low-temperature electrolyte additive for lithium-ion batteries

        A lithium-modified silica nanosalt (LieSiO2, coded Li202) of hydrophobic fumed silica (R202) is synthesized to use as an electrolyte additive for lithium-ion batteries (LIBs) under low temperature conditions. The synthesis method consists of reacting the silica nanoparticles with LiH and consequently quickly reacting the conjugate silicate ions with 1,3-propanesultone as a surface stabilizer. The obtained Li202 nanosalt (2.5 wt%) is added into an electrolyte solution of 1.0 M LiPF6 dissolved in ethylene carbonate/ propylene carbonate/ethylmethyl carbonate/diethyl carbonate (20:5:55:20 vol%) þ 2 wt% vinylene carbonate. The electrolyte solution including the Li202 nanosalt shows higher ionic conductivity and superior electrochemical stability over 5 V, which is due to the stabilized surface group. The high-rate capability at 20 C of the LiCoO2/graphite cell is particularly enhanced by adding Li202 nanosalt. In addition, excellent cycle performance at 20 C endorses the use of Li202 nanosalt as a low-temperature electrolyte additive for LIBs.
