Candida cylindracea lipase was immobilized by adsorption on acid washed glass beads. It was observed that protein loading of the support depends on the size of the particle, with smaller particle containing higher amount of protein per unit weight. Initial reaction rate linearly varied up to enzyme concentration of 17.25 U/mL. Amount of free fatty acids produced was linearly proportional up to the enzyme loading of 1650 $\mu$g/g of bead. Achievement of chemical equilibrium took longer time in the case of less protein loading. Degree of hydrolysis was found to decrease in second and third consecutive batch operations on repeated use of immobilized lipase.

A simple and efficient way of modeling backgating in GaAs MESFET's is presented through depletion width modulation of Schottky junction and channel-substrate interface. It is shown semi-empirically that such a modulation of depletion widths causes serious troubles in designing precision circuits since backgating drastically reduces threshold voltage of MESFET as well as drain current. Finally, some of the results are compared with reported experimental results. This model may serve as a starting point for rigorous characterization of backgating effect on various device parameters of GaAs MESFET's.

A new analytical model for the static I-V characteristics of GaAs MESFET’s under optically controlled conditions in both linear and saturation region is presented in this paper. The novelty of the model lies in characterizing both photovoltaic (external, internal) and photoconductive effects. Deep level traps in the semi insulating GaAs substrate are also included in this model. Finally, effect of backgate voltage on I-V characteristics is explained analytically for the first time in literature. Small signal parameters of GaAs MESFET are derived under both dark and illuminated conditions. Some of the results are compared with reported experimental results to show the validity of the proposed model. Since accurate dc modeling is the key to accurate ac modeling, this model is very useful in the designing of photonic MMIC’s and OEIC’s using GaAs MESFET.
SU-MIMO based uplink non-orthogonal multiple access for 5G

<P><B>Abstract</B></P> <P>In this paper, we present the application of single user multiple input multiple output (SU-MIMO) to uplink (UL) non-orthogonal multiple access (NOMA) to enhance UL capacity. However, SU-MIMO NOMA produces inter-stream interference in addition to intra-pair interference, leading to performance degradation. Therefore, a novel UL SU-MIMO NOMA signal detection, combining minimum mean square error (MMSE) with dual-level iterative successive interference cancelation is proposed to mitigate the interference. Additionally, generalized dynamic power allocation is proposed at UL transmitters to ensure the capacity for NOMA over orthogonal multiple access (OMA) and the capability to overcome error floor phenomenon caused by fixed power allocation. A practical SIC scheme is also considered to create a more realistic scenario than the perfect SIC. The proposed system is evaluated in terms of capacity, throughput, error performance, and computational complexity. The results show that the proposed SU-MIMO based NOMA outperforms in capacity, throughput, and error performance at the same MMSE complexity order.</P>

Experiments on deactivation kinetics of immobilized lipase enzyme from Candida cyl-indracea were performed in stirred bath reactor using rice bran oil as the substrate and temperature as the deactivation parameter. The data were fitted In first order deactivation model. The effect of temperature on deactivation rate was represented by Arrhenius equation. Theoretical equations were developed based on pseudo-steady state approximation and Michaelis -Menten rate expression to predict the time course of conversion due to enzyme deactivation and apparent half-life of the immobilized enzyme activity in PFR and CSTH under constant feed rate polity for no diffusion limitation and diffusion limitation of first order. Stability of enzyme in these continuous reactors was predicted and factors affecting the stability were analyzed.
