A controlling method for obtaining real-time sensing data with REST based interface
Yoshimasa Miyamori,Nao Kawanishi,Masayoshi Ohashi 대한전자공학회 2009 ITC-CSCC :International Technical Conference on Ci Vol.2009 No.7
In this paper, sensor data retrieval system in sensor network applications using RESTful interface is discussed. By using this RESTful interface, previous sensed data and future incoming data can be retrieved with one method. We further investigate a controlling method to deal with timeout events which may occur both at server and client during the data retrieval process.
Issues in structural health monitoring employing smart sensors
T. Nagayama,심성한,Y. Miyamori,B.F. Spencer, Jr. 국제구조공학회 2007 Smart Structures and Systems, An International Jou Vol.3 No.3
Smart sensors densely distributed over structures can provide rich information for structural monitoring using their onboard wireless communication and computational capabilities. However, issues such as time synchronization error, data loss, and dealing with large amounts of harvested data have limited the implementation of full-fledged systems. Limited network resources (e.g. battery power, storage space, bandwidth, etc.) make these issues quite challenging. This paper first investigates the effects of time synchronization error and data loss, aiming to clarify requirements on synchronization accuracy and communication reliability in SHM applications. Coordinated computing is then examined as a way to manage large amounts of data.

It is widely acknowledged that computer is powerful tool to improve the quality of life of the people with disability. One problem is how the user manipulates the computer using suitable input device designed for him or her. This paper proposes tow pointing devices based on vision for the people with disability as input devices. These devices detect the position of the marks attached on the users head. According to the head movements, computer cursor on the computer display is moved in two-dimensionally. A distinct advantage of these devices is that various strategies could be installed based on the situation of the users. The pointing device was applied to a drawing tool of the painting software for an patients successfully.
