        탄력적 교육체제 모델로서 초·중 통합운영학교의 현황과 과제

        이 연구는 탄력적 교육체제를 구현할 수 있는 모델 학교로서 초등학교와 중학교 간 통합운영학교의 운영 현황과 문제점을 체계적으로 분석하고 주요 개선 방안을 탐색하는 데 목적이 있다. 이를 위해 두 가지 연구문제를 설정하였다. 초·중 통합운영학교의 운영 실태는 어떠한가? 둘째, 초·중 통합운영학교의 필요성, 문제점, 개선 과제 등에 대한 구성원 및 교육청 담당자의 인식은 어떠한가? 연구문제 해결을 위해 전국 45개 초·중 통합운영학교의 운영 현황에 대한 실태 조사와 통합운영학교의 교원, 학부모, 교육청 전문직을 대상으로 초점집단면담을 실시하였다. 분석 결과, 통합운영학교에서 교육과정 및 학사 운영, 교직원 인사 및 업무, 교육시설 및 교육기자재 활용은 대체로 학교급별로 분리되어 있으며, 교육과정 통합운영은 창의적 체험활동, 방과 후 교육활동 등에서 부분적으로 이루어지는 것으로 나타났다. 초점집단면담을 통해 통합운영학교의 장점(필요성), 문제점, 개선 과제를 도출하였으며, 이를 종합하여 통합운영학교를 중심으로 한 탄력적 교육체제 운영을 위한 개선 방안을 지원체제(행정적·제도적 장치), 인적체제(교원), 과업체제(교육과정), 문화적 체제(교직문화·학교문화) 측면에서 제시하였다. The purpose of this study is to analyze the current status, problems and improvement tasks of combined elementary and middle school, which is a model school that can implement a flexible education system for public education innovation. For this purpose, two research questions were established. First, what is the current state of combined elementary and middle schools? Second, what is the perceptions of the school members and the personnel of the Office of Education about the strengths(necessity), problems, and improvement tasks of combined schools? In order to explore the research questions, a survey on the current status of 45 combined schools nationwide and focus group interviews were conducted with teachers, parents, and personnel of the Office of Education. As a result of the analysis, it was found that the curriculum and academic operation, personnel and duties of faculty and staff, and the use of educational facilities and educational equipments were generally separated by school level in the combined schools, and the integrated operation of the curriculum was partially performed in creative experience activities and after-school programs. Through the focus group interviews, the strengths (necessity), problems, and improvement tasks of the combined schools were derived. Based on these research results, tasks for the operation of a flexible education system centered on combined schools were developed in terms of support system (administrative /institutional aspect), human resource system (teacher), task system (curriculum), and cultural system (teacher culture/school culture).

      • Chitosan-catechol: a writable bioink under serum culture media

        <P>Mussel-inspired adhesive coatings on biomedical devices have attracted significant interest due to their unique properties such as substrate independency and high efficiency. The key molecules for mussel-inspired adhesive coatings are catechol and amine groups. Along with the understanding of catechol chemistry, chitosan-catechol has also been developed as a representative mussel-inpired adhesive polymer that contains catechol and amine groups for adhesiveness. Herein, we demonstrated the direct writability of chitosan-catechol as a bioink for 3D printing, one of the additive techniques. The use of chitosan-catechol bioink results in the formation of 3D constructs in normal culture media <I>via</I> rapid complexation of this bioink with serum proteins; in addition, the metal/catechol combination containing tiny amounts of vanadyl ions, in which the ratio of metal to catechol is 0.0005, dramatically enhances the mechanical strength and printability of the cell-encapsulated inks, showing a cell viability of approximately 90%. These findings for mussel-inspired bioinks will be a promising way to design a biocompatible 3D bioink cross-linked without any external stimuli.</P>

        A Corpus-Based Study on the Positioning of Concessive Clauses with although

        This paper aims to provide an integrated account of the affectedness of semantic factors such as the Figure precedence principle, the sequence principle, and the end-focus principle on the positioning of the concessive clauses introduced by the subordinate conjunction although, based on the COCA"s recently updated data. The results of this paper show that these three principles are involved in the positioning of the although-clause either independently or interactively with each other. The Figure precedence principle has the greatest influence on the positioning of the although-clause. The Sequence principle works by itself or with the initial although-clause, playing the role of a bridge when the main clause gets an end-focus. Some although-clauses are positioned to avoid the reinterpretation process of the main clause without being affected by the three principles.

        The Effects of Diet Alone or in Combination with Exercise in Patients with Prehypertension and Hypertension: a Randomized Controlled Trial

        <P><B>Background and Objectives</B></P><P>Supervised lifestyle interventions, including dietary and exercise programs, may be infeasible to implement in real-world settings. Therefore, this study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of a home-based lifestyle modification intervention on blood pressure (BP) management.</P><P><B>Methods</B></P><P>Eighty-five patients aged over 20 years and diagnosed with prehypertension or mild hypertension were randomly assigned to an advice-only comparison group (C group, n=28), a Dietary Approaches to Stop Hypertension (DASH) diet education group (D group, n=30), or a DASH and home-based exercise group (D+Ex group, n=27). The intervention lasted for 8 weeks. The primary outcome was the difference in office systolic blood pressure (SBP) before and after the study period (Trial registry at ClinicalTrials.gov, NCT01637909).</P><P><B>Results</B></P><P>Seventy-two participants (87.8%) completed the trial. The degree of change in office SBP did not significantly differ among the intervention groups; however, the D+Ex group demonstrated a tendency toward decreased SBP. Upon analysis of 24-hour ambulatory BP measurements, daytime ambulatory SBP was significantly lower in the D+Ex group (134 mmHg; 95% confidence interval [CI], 131 to 137; p=0.011) than in the C group (139.5 mmHg; 95% CI, 130.9 to 137), and daytime ambulatory SBP was significantly decreased in the D+Ex group (−5.2 mmHg; 95% CI, −8.3 to −2.1; p=0.011) compared to the C group (0.4 mmHg, 95% CI, −2.5 to 3.3).</P><P><B>Conclusions</B></P><P>In conclusion, lifestyle modification emphasizing both diet and exercise was effective for lowering BP and should be favored over diet-only modifications.</P>

        A hybrid approach to FinP in the Left Periphery: the cases of Spanish and Korean

        This research deals with the similarities and differences found in the left periphery of Korean and Spanish and introduces various parameters that can be applied to variations within that clausal domain CP. In particular, this work provides analyses that unlike Spanish data that the syntactic overt movement of constituents to the left periphery gives rise to discourse effects, as argued by Rizzi’s (1997) cartographic project, the covert movement of constituents or operators in Korean yields topicalization and focalization. Furthermore, focusing on ‘constrastive readings’ found in both languages, this paper points out that FinP with [+C] feature evokes various phenomena related to discourse effects; (i) scrambling, topic subject, Contrastive Topic/Focus in Korean and (ii) topic subject, F(ocus)F(ronting), and CLLD in Spanish, following López (2009). Finally, based on the fact that ambiguous A and A-bar natures appear in scrambling and topic subject in Korean marked by -neun and preverbal subject in Spanish, this research puts forward that FinP has the hybrid A and A-bar properties, which results in non-standard binding effects of scrambling, ambiguous (weak) cross-over effects in topicalization of Korean, as well as contrastive readings in topic subject, FF, and CLLD in Spanish. The advantage of this analysis is that it is possible to apply various “double focus phenomena” in Korean, which are not compatible with Rizzi’s (1997) cartographic project, to the existing model without setting additional functional categories. This suggests a new alternative to the Foc-Fin structure instead of Foc-Foc structure for the double focus phenomenon in Korean.

        OVERVIEW OF KSTAR INTEGRATED CONTROL SYSTEM

        After more than 10 years construction, KSTAR (Korea Superconducting Tokamak Advanced Research) had finally completed its assembly in June 2007, and then achieved the goal of first-plasma in July 2008 through the four month’s commissioning. KSTAR was constructed with fully superconducting magnets with material of Nb3Sn and NbTi, and their operation temperatures are maintained below 4.5K by the help of Helium Refrigerator System. During the first-plasma operation, plasmas of maximum current of 133kA and maximum pulse width of 865ms were obtained. The KSTAR Integrated Control System (KICS) has successfully fulfilled its missions of surveillance, device operation, machine protection interlock, and data acquisition and management. These and more were all KSTAR commissioning requirements. For reliable and safe operation of KSTAR, 17 local control systems were developed. Those systems must be integrated into the logically single control system, and operate regardless of their platforms and location installed. In order to meet these requirements, KICS was developed as a network-based distributed system and adopted a new framework, named as EPICS (Experimental Physics and Industrial Control System). Also, KICS has some features in KSTAR operation. It performs not only 24 hour continuous plant operation, but the shot-based real-time feedback control by exchanging the initiatives of operation between a central controller and a plasma control system in accordance with the operation sequence. For the diagnosis and analysis of plasma, 11 types of diagnostic system were implemented in KSTAR, and the acquired data from them were archived using MDSplus (Model Driven System), which is widely used in data management of fusion control systems. This paper will cover the design and implementation of the KSTAR integrated control system and the data management and visualization systems. Commissioning results will be introduced in brief.

        A Corpus-Based Study on Figure Precedence in English Complex Sentences

        This study aims to verify the affectedness of the Figure Precedence Principle in the structures of complex sentences based on COCA"s recent data. The results of this study showed that the Figure Precedence Principle works at different levels of affectedness in each semantic type of adverbial clause. The complex sentences with the causal clause are under the most significant affectedness of the Figure Precedence Principle. On the other hand, complex sentences with a conditional clause have the weakest affectedness of the Figure Precedence Principle. It is remarkable that complex sentences with a concessive clause have an opposite preference to figure precedence between the spoken and the written data.

      • Wettability Control of ZnO Nanoparticles for Universal Applications

        <P>Herein, a facile approach for the fabrication of a superhydrophobic nanocoating through a simple spin-coating and chemical modification is demonstrated. The resulting coated surface displayed a static water contact angle of 158° and contact angle hysteresis of 1°, showing excellent superhydrophobicity. The surface wettability could be modulated by the number of ZnO nanoparticle coating cycles, which in turn affected surface roughness. Because of its surface-independent characteristics, this method could be applicable to a wide range of substrates including metals, semiconductors, papers, cotton fabrics, and even flexible polymer substrates. This superhydrophobic surface showed high stability in thermal and dynamic conditions, which are essential elements for practical applications. Furthermore, the reversible switching of wetting behaviors from the superhydrophilic state to the superhydrophobic state was demonstrated using repeated chemical modification/heat treatment cycles of the coating films.</P><P><B>Graphic Abstract</B> <IMG SRC='http://pubs.acs.org/appl/literatum/publisher/achs/journals/content/aamick/2011/aamick.2011.3.issue-9/am2004762/production/images/medium/am-2011-004762_0006.gif'></P><P><A href='http://pubs.acs.org/doi/suppl/10.1021/am2004762'>ACS Electronic Supporting Info</A></P>
