Early prostate cancer diagnosis by pathologists remains challenging. Recent advances in computer-aided detection (CAD), artificial intelligence (AI), and machine learning (ML) allow prostate cancer grading. This study explored the accuracy of prostate cancer detection by deep learning techniques, particularly convolutional neural networks (CNNs). We performed three-way binary classification based on images cropped to 256 × 256 and 512 × 512 pixels using an ensemble deep CNN model. Six pre-trained CNN models (MobileNet, VGG-16, ResNet-50, DenseNet-121, Inception-V3, and EfficientNet-B0) were integrated to classify histopathological features. The overall accuracy for the combined 256 × 256 and 512×512 pixel images was 94.9%. Additionally, in separate classifications of 256×256 and 512×512 images, we achieved overall accuracies of 90.8% and 94.3%, respectively. Consequently, our method effectively distinguishes benign from malignant samples, approaching near-perfect accuracy.

A light-weight dynamic Ontology for Internet of Things using Machine Learning Technique

Ensuring semantic interoperability in the future Internet of Things can be a challenging task due to their heterogeneous nature and increasing scale. Ontologies are widely used to achieve semantic interoperability among IoT applications and services. But, available ontologies are very complex, static or unable to fulfill the requirements of IoT. To address this concern, we proposed a light-weight dynamic ontology using only the most important concepts and clustering technique. It provides dynamic semantics automatically to include additional concepts using machine learning technique. Compared to the existing ontology, the proposed model reduces query response time and memory consumption to some extent.
Osmotic and convective hot air drying of sweet gourd

Kinetics of osmotic dehydration (OD) and insights into the effect of salt concentration (5%, 10%, 15%, 20%), drying temperature (50C, 60C, 70C), and sample thickness (4 mm, 6 mm, 8 mm) on the drying kinetics of sweet gourd of two varieties (SGV-1 and SGV-2) were investigated based on the Fick’s second law of diffusion model. Quality attributes (chemical and organoleptic) of biscuit formulated with osmotic dehydrated sweet gourd powder were assessed. Results showed that, significant changes occurred during the first 2 h of process where mass transfer kinetics were increased with increasing salt concentration. With increasing time, drying rate was proportional to the temperature, inversely proportional to the sample thickness as well as salt concentration. Moreover, sweet gourd variety has shown impact on formulated products quality and consumer acceptability which could serve as a ground to diversify the use of sweet gourd towards industrial application.

The study was conducted to know the cyclic changes in gonadal maturation and to investigate the developmental stages of oocytes and testicular germ cells of an air-breathing fish, Channa striata. Fish were sampled monthly from lentic and lotic environments of three geographical locations of Bangladesh from December to November and the histological analysis of their gonad was done to evaluate the objectives. The highest mean GSI was 5.95 ± 0.20 for female in July and 0.14 ± 0.01 for male also in July showing that the gonadal development reached its peak during this month. The highest mean oocyte diameter was 1257.50 ± 24.17 μm observed in July implying that the oocyte reached maturity in this month. Histological study of ovary revealed the evidence of early yolk granule stage and late yolk granule stage from April to July. In case of male four stages of spermatogenesis were distinguished and spermatozoa were highly abundant in June and July. So the monthly pooled values of GSI and the analysis of gonadal histology indicated that the peak breeding season of C. striata occurred in July in the lentic and lotic environments. Samples collected from lentic and lotic habitats are suggestive of no difference in the development of the gonad. The results of the present study will be useful for selective breeding programme, conservation and sustainable fishery management of C. striata in its natural habitat.
