<P>We present elemental abundances for eight unevolved extremely metal-poor (EMP) stars with T-eff > 5500 K, among which seven have [Fe/H] < -3.5. The sample is selected from the Sloan Digital Sky Survey/Sloan Extension for Galactic Understanding and Exploration (SDSS/SEGUE) and our previous high-resolution spectroscopic follow-up with the Subaru Telescope. Several methods to derive stellar parameters are compared, and no significant offset in the derived parameters is found in most cases. From an abundance analysis relative to the standard EMP star G64-12, an average Li abundance for stars with [Fe/H] < -3.5 is A(Li) = 1.90, with a standard deviation of sigma = 0.10 dex. This result confirms that lower Li abundances are found at lower metallicity, as suggested by previous studies, and demonstrates that the star-to-star scatter is small. The small observed scatter could be a strong constraint on Li-depletion mechanisms proposed for explaining the low Li abundance at lower metallicity. Our analysis for other elements obtained the following results: (i) a statistically significant scatter in [X/Fe] for Na, Mg, Cr, Ti, Sr, and Ba, and an apparent bimodality in[Na/Fe] with a separation of similar to 0.8 dex, (ii) an absence of a sharp drop in the metallicity distribution, and (iii) the existence of a CEMP-s star at [Fe/H] similar or equal to -3.6 and possibly at [Fe/H] similar or equal to -4.0, which may provide a constraint on the mixing efficiency of unevolved stars during their main-sequence phase.</P>

A number of systems have several on-chip memories with cache memory being one of them. Conventional cache memory consists of SRAM but the ratio of static energy to the total energy of the memory architecture becomes larger as the leakage power of traditional SRAM increases. Spin-Torque Transfer RAM (STT-RAM), which is a variety of Non-Volatile Memory (NVM), has many advantages over SRAM, such as high density, low leakage power, and non-volatility, but it consumes too much writing energy. This study evaluated a wide range of energy consumptions of a two-level cache using NVM partially on a mobile processor. Through a number of experimental evaluations, it was confirmed that the use of NVM partially in the two-level cache effectively reduces energy consumption significantly.

<P><B>Objective</B></P><P>To evaluate the similarities between LBEC0101 (etanercept biosimilar) and the etanercept reference product (ETN-RP) in terms of efficacy and safety, including immunogenicity, in patients with active rheumatoid arthritis despite methotrexate treatment.</P><P><B>Methods</B></P><P>This phase III, multicentre, randomised, double-blind, parallel-group, 54-week study was conducted in Japan and Korea. The primary efficacy endpoint was the change from baseline in the disease activity score in 28 joints based on erythrocyte sedimentation rate (DAS28-ESR) at week 24. American College of Rheumatology 20% (ACR20) response rate, adverse events (AEs), pharmacokinetics and development of antidrug antibodies (ADAs) were also evaluated.</P><P><B>Results</B></P><P>In total, 374 patients were randomised to LBEC0101 (n=187) or ETN-RP (n=187). The least squares mean changes from baseline in DAS28-ESR at week 24 in the per-protocol set were −3.01 (95% CI −3.198 to −2.820) in the LBEC0101 group and −2.86 (95% CI −3.051 to −2.667) in the ETN-RP group. The estimated between-group difference was −0.15 and its 95% CI was −0.377 to 0.078, which was within the prespecified equivalence margin of −0.6 to 0.6. ACR20 response rates at week 24 were similar between the groups (LBEC0101 93.3% vs ETN-RP 86.7%). The incidence of AEs up to week 54 was comparable between the groups (LBEC0101 92.0% vs ETN-RP 92.5%), although fewer patients in the LBEC0101 group (1.6%) than the ETN-RP group (9.6%) developed ADAs.</P><P><B>Conclusion</B></P><P>The clinical efficacy of LBEC0101 was equivalent to that of ETN-RP. LBEC0101 was well tolerated and had a comparable safety profile to ETN-RP.</P><P><B>Trial registration number</B></P><P>NCT02357069.</P>
Position and Attitude Feedback Controller of a Planar Satellite with Two Thrusters

This paper proposes a feedback control method for the in-plane motion of a satellite equipped with two thrusters, whose force directions are fixed to the satellite. The satellite’s equations of motion have second-order nonho-lonomic constraints. This paper utilizes an invariant manifold and develops a feedback controller based on the Lyapu-nov’s second method. The developed controller can control the satellite’s state composed of six components for the po-sition and attitude angle by two thruster systems. Furthermore, the controller has robustness for the system’s modeling errors. Some simulations results are shown to demonstrate the effectiveness of the developed controller.

Mammalian circadian clock is composed of two feedback loops, a Per-Cry and Clock-Bmal1-Rev-erb loops, which are interlocked each other. This paper examines the effect of the interlocked loops from an aspect of robustness by means of simulations with hybrid functional Petri net technique, showing that Ror gene plays an important role for keeping robust oscillation in the interlocked loops of mammalian circadian clock.
Optimal and Robust Design of Plasma Actuator for the Control of a Cylinder Wake

The performance of the plasma actuators for wake control and resulting drag reduction is examined and the optimization of the driving conditions of the plasma actuators were carried out by using the robust design method for wake control at high dynamic pressure conditions. The parameter design method that we used is feasible for the optimization of the control variables for flow control, under the situation that has multiple input parameters, requiring robustness, and complexity in flow phenomenon. The result of the design method gives the predicted optimal condition for reduced control parameters and that is confirmed to be robust and stable to the application test.

A novel hybrid system using DC-input direct electric-power converter (D-EPC) has been proposed. D-EPC is an inverter capable of controlling the distribution of power from two sources. In this paper, the power distribution control of D-EPC achieves the voltage boost for series hybrid system without a boost chopper. The voltage of the smoothing capacitor is controlled at a constant level using the power distribution control of D-EPC to maintain the motor drive voltage regardless of load variations. The effectiveness of the proposed hybrid system was verified by simulation and the prototype D-EPC circuit.

Background/Aims: Recent studies suggested a favorable effect of indigo naturalis (IN) in inducing remission for refractory ulcerative colitis (UC), however, the maintenance effect of IN for patients with UC remains unknown. Therefore, we conducted a prospective uncontrolled open-label study to analyze the efficacy and safety of IN for patients with UC. Methods: Patients with moderate to severe active UC (clinical activity index [CAI] ≥8) took 2 g/day of IN for 52 weeks. CAI at weeks 0, 4, 8, and 52 and Mayo endoscopic subscore (MES) and Geboes score (GS) at weeks 0, 4, and 52 were assessed. Clinical remission (CAI ≤4), mucosal healing (MES ≤1), and histological healing (GS ≤1) rates at each assessment were evaluated. Overall adverse events (AEs) during study period were also evaluated. The impact of IN on mucosal microbial composition was assessed using 16S ribosomal RNA gene sequences. Results: Thirty-three patients were enrolled. The rates of clinical remission at weeks 4, 8, and 52 were 67%, 76%, and 73%, respectively. The rates of mucosal healing at weeks 4 and 52 were 48% and 70%, respectively. AEs occurred in 17 patients (51.5%) during follow-up. Four patients (12.1%) showed severe AEs, among whom 3 manifested acute colitis. No significant alteration in the mucosal microbial composition was observed with IN treatment. Conclusions: One-year treatment of moderate to severe UC with IN was effective. IN might be a promising therapeutic option for maintaining remission in UC, although the relatively high rate of AEs should be considered. (Intest Res 2022;20:260-268)
