India, has traditionally been involved in various corporate socially responsible (CSR) activities. This paper presents an empirical analysis of CSR activities of some selected public and private organization in India. The key objective of this analysis is to review the companies' CSR investment in sustainability, disclosure, governance, and CSR stakeholders. The Hypotheses development explains the positive significant relationship between CSR and firm performance. Then the methodology section explains sample selection and data source. Using these data, the CSR practices in selected public and private companies are evaluated based on the Global Reporting Initiative guidelines, and a comparative study of the impact of CSR practices on companies' profitability is conducted. The study also focuses on how CSR influences these companies' gross margins, as well as the correlation between environmental concerns and return on investment. The result of this study are appropriate for India's present scenario demonstrating that all companies are conducting CSR operations, but there is a substantial difference in the CSR disclosure practices of the selected firms. The private companies in India invests more in CSR but spend less on the environmental aspects whereas the public companies invest less in CSR but almost spend their entire CSR expenditure on the social and environmental aspects.

Heat input plays a significant role in flux cored arc welding (FCAW) for producing quality welding. Weld cladding improves corrosion resistance and other mechanical properties. Selection of appropriate heat input is required to get optimum quality of the cladding. In this experiment, FCAW cladding of duplex stainless steel is done on low alloy steel under CO₂ gas shield. Three sets of heat input are chosen for experimentation in which each level of heat input comprised of three sets of current and voltage in such a way that the heat input level remained nearly constant. The output parameters like corrosion rate is measured and microstructures are evaluated. The relationship between heat input and corrosion rate is evaluated by means of polynomial regression analysis and the results matched with proposed model with small variations. The results showed that corrosion rate increases with increase in heat input within the experimental domain. Minimum corrosion rate is obtained in the present investigation at 0.49 kJ/mm heat input with 170A weld current, 27V weld voltage and 7.5 mm/s weld torch travel speed. For a particular heat input, corrosion rate is found to vary with different weld current. Microstructure of duplex stainless steel cladding shows presence of austenite phase, and ferrite phase. For an increase in heat input, the microstructure of clad part sacrifices more amount of ferrite phase that exhibits more amount of corrosion.

Purpose The present study aims to develop value added cookies using composite formulation of wheat and cassava flour using simplex lattice mixture design and sensory evaluation by applying fuzzy logic approach. Methods Based on the simplex lattice mixture design, optimized formulations of the cookies using wheat flour, dry chips flour, and fermented cassava flour were developed. The impacts of the composite flour on different quality traits of the cookies specifically rheology, color, texture, and sensory properties were studied. Results The optimized formulations of the cookies were determined as wheat flour of 77.50%, dry chips flour of 16.67%, and fermented cassava flour of 5.83% of total flour. The responses under this formulation were color value (L* value) of 67.23, the maximumbreaking strength of 23.55 N, and loss tangent of 0.29. Investigation of the rheological properties based on loss tangent values demonstrated solid elastic behavior of the cookie’s dough. Furthermore, sensory evaluation by applying fuzzy logic approach revealed cookies prepared with the optimum formulation as the best sample based on appearance, aroma, taste, and texture. Conclusions The present study has the credentials to support that the developed composite flour-based cookies are the effectual alternative of accessible bakery items as evidenced by the results with improved quality properties.

In this article, a new flow restrictor is utilized in the magnetorheological miniature gear-profile polishing (MRMGPP) method to ensure a consistent and precise polishing of gear profiles. The effectiveness of flow restrictor is analyzed using a finite element-based software COMSOL ® Multiphysics, where shear stress and axial velocity distributions are studied along gear profiles. Later, the experiments are performed without and with using a novel flow restrictor on the SS316L miniature gear teeth profile to examine the finishing performance and results are compared with each other. After finishing the gear, the minimum surface roughness of 24.1 nm at involute profile is achieved, and also all manufacturing defects are completely removed. Concurrently, the teeth geometry profiles are not affected. The uniform finishing of miniature gear with a continuous smooth surface may improve its work performance, transmitting power ability, reliability, fatigue life and form accuracy.

Objective: Joint manipulation for craniovertebral junction instability is often hindered by the C2-ganglion (C2G). Our study aims to compare the surgical outcome among patients with or without C2G preservation and discuss the technical nuances. Methods: We did a prospective, bicentric study and included all the operated patients with craniovertebral junction anomaly. The outcome was assessed by the Pain Numeric Rating Scale, Patient Satisfactions Score, and Stony Brook Scar Evaluation Scale. The fusion was assessed using Lenke fusion grade. Results: One hundred seventy-one patients (88 in group A and 83 in group B) were included. The most common symptom was spastic quadriparesis (n=165, 96.5%) with median Nurick grade 3.3. Thirteen patients had suboccipital numbness and 12 patients had paraesthesia. Mean blood loss in group A was 490±96.2 mL and group B was 525±45.7 mL; median operative time was 217.9 and 162.2 minutes in the groups A and B, respectively (p<0.05). At the follow-up (median, 46.8 months), Lenke fusion grade A was achieved in 92.4% and grade B in 7.6%. A trend suggesting better functional outcomes (numbness, parestheisa, scar outcome, and postoperative ulcer formation) in group A was seen with all 6 patients, who underwent O-C2 fixation, developed pressure sore. Conclusion: Our results support ganglion preservation, especially in the subset of patients where occipital plating is required. Although the study fails to show any statistical significance, we suggest that one should always start with an ‘intent’ of preservation as the functional outcome is better.
