Association between Corporate Governance and Corporate Performance in Iran

        Mahdi Moradi,Mahmood Mousavi Shiri,Mahdi Salehi,Habib Piri 한국유통과학회 2013 유통과학연구 Vol.11 No.11

Purpose Considering corporate companies that are continually growing and bearing in mind the theory of agency, how confident can stakeholders be about their benefits in relation to managers’decisions? Previous research has indicated that the type of corporate governance can have an effective impact on companies’ performance. The current study aims to investigate the impact of ownership structure on listed companies on the Tehran Stock Exchange. Research Design, Data, and Methodology Through use of the correlation coefficient, the results indicate a positive correlation among the percentage of common stock held by board members, the percentage of non-executive board members, and separation of the positions of chairperson of the board of directors and managing director. Results Based on the return on assets index, only the correlation between the proportion of ownership of the managing director and financial investment company ownership is significant. Conclusion Managers can potentially make decisions that –benefit themselves but are detrimental to shareholders' interests. Corporate governance is a factor that can mitigate agency costs. Corporate governance comprises the laws, regulations, structures, processes, cultures, and systems that lead to the achievement of objectives such as accountability, transparency, justice, and stakeholders' rights.

Simple mucopexy and hemorrhoidal arterial ligation with and without Doppler guide: a randomized clinical trial for short-term outcome

        Alemrajabi Mahdi,Akbari Abolfazl,Sohrabi Sara,Rezazadehkermani Mohammad,Moradi Mohammad,Agah Shahram,Masoodi Mohsen 대한대장항문학회 2023 Annals of Coloproctolgy Vol.39 No.4

Purpose: Hemorrhoids are the most common benign anorectal diseases. Mucopexy strengthens the anal canal mucosa, which can be performed alone or in combination with Doppler-guided hemorrhoidal artery ligation (DG-HAL). In this study, we compared the postoperative complications between simple mucopexy plus HAL with and without a Doppler guide. Methods: This study was performed as a single-blinded randomized clinical trial. Patients referred to a tertiary colorectal referral clinic with grades 3 and 4 hemorrhoids who were candidates for surgical intervention entered the study. Thirty-six patients were randomly divided into 2 groups. Group A including 18 patients underwent mucopexy and DG-HAL and the other 18 patients (group B) underwent standard mucopexy and HAL without a Doppler guide. Postoperative pain score and the duration of oral analgesic consumption were recorded. Additionally, postoperative symptoms and complications were recorded and compared between the 2 methods. Results: There was no significant difference between the 2 groups in terms of pain score and the duration of postoperative analgesic consumption as well as the incidence of postoperative complications. Besides, the primary grade of hemorrhoids was not significantly associated with recurrence, but there was a significant association between body mass index and Wexner score (WS) with recurrence. The mean WS of patients showed a significant decrease in both groups postoperatively. However, the rate of WS reduction was not remarkably different between the 2 groups. Conclusion: Simple mucopexy with blind HAL (without Doppler guide) might be considered for the treatment of grades 3 and 4 hemorrhoids effectively.

TB Trifusion Antigen Adsorbed on Calcium Phosphate Nanoparticles Stimulates Strong Cellular Immunity in Mice

        Yousef Amini,Bagher Moradi,Mohsen Tafaghodi,Zahra Meshkat,Kiarash Ghazvini,Mahdi Fasihi-Ramandi 한국생물공학회 2016 Biotechnology and Bioprocess Engineering Vol.21 No.5

Among various vaccine candidates, subunit vaccines play an important role in immune protection against tuberculosis (TB). Calcium phosphate (CP) is considered as a strong inorganic adjuvant due to its great potential in increasing immune responses. The purpose of this study was to evaluate specific immune responses following the administration of trifusion-CP nanoparticles. The physiochemical properties of these nanoparticles, including morphology, particle size, zeta potential and adsorption rate, were measured in vitro. Subcutaneous immunization was performed three times on days 0, 14, and 28. Two weeks after the last administration, IFN-gamma, IL-4, and TGF-beta levels were measured by indirect enzyme linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). The trifusion protein was successfully adsorbed onto calcium phosphate nanoparticles. The mean sizes of the resultant trifusion- CPN and CPN were 97.84 ± 12.08 and 67 ± 11.85 nm, respectively. CPN containing trifusion had stronger ability to induce IFN-gamma than the control groups. IL-4 and TGF-beta secretions in trifusion and trifusion-CPN groups were higher than those in the PBS group. However, there was no significant (p > 0.05) difference in IL-4 and TGFbeta concentrations between trifusion group and trifusion- CPN group. Therefore, calcium phosphate nanoparticles are good candidates for immunization against TB because antigen can be easily adsorbed onto CPN and strong cellular immune responses against CPN-antigen can be stimulated.

      • Dynamic response analysis of nanoparticle-nanobeam impact using nonlocal theory and meshless method

Isa Ahmadi,Mohammad Naeim Moradi,Mahdi Davar Panah 국제구조공학회 2024 Structural Engineering and Mechanics, An Int'l Jou Vol.89 No.2

In this study, the impact response of a nanobeam with a moving nanoparticle is investigated. Timoshenko beam theory is used to model the nanobeam behavior and nonlocal elasticity theory is used to consider the effects of small dimensions. The interaction between the nanoparticle and nanobeam has been described using Lennard-Jones potential theory and the equations are discretized by the radial basis meshless method and a mathematical model is presented for the nanobeamnanoparticle system. Validation of the proposed model is achieved by comparing the obtained natural frequencies with reference values, demonstrating good agreement. Dimensionless frequency analysis reveals a decrease with increasing nonlocal parameter, pointing out a toughening effect in nanobeam. The dynamic response of the nanobeam and nanoparticle is obtained by time integration of equations of motion using Newmark and Wilson- methods. A comparative analysis of the two methods is conducted to determine the most suitable approach for this study. As a distinctive aspect in this study, the analysis incorporates the deformation of the nanobeam resulting from the nanoparticle-nanobeam interaction when calculating the Lennard-Jones force in the nanobeam-nanoparticle system. The numerical findings explore the impact of various factors, including the nonlocal parameter, initial velocity, nanoparticle mass, and boundary conditions.

The aqueous extract of Allium saralicum R.M. Fritsch efectively treat induced anemia: experimental study on Wistar rats

        Samaneh Goorani,Nabi Shariatifar,Niloofar Seydi,Akram Zangeneh,Rohallah Moradi,Behzad Tari,Farzaneh Nazari,Mohammad Mahdi Zangeneh 경희대학교 융합한의과학연구소 2019 Oriental Pharmacy and Experimental Medicine Vol.19 No.4

There are many medicinal plants in traditional medicine which are used to prevent, control, and treat anemia. One of these plants is Allium saralicum R.M. Fritsch. The purpose of our research was to investigate the efect of aqueous extract of A. saralicum leaf in the treatment of hemolytic anemia. In this study, 60 rats were used. Induction of hemolytic anemia was done by three injections of Phenylhydrazine in 50 animals. Then, the rats were divided into six subgroups, including negative healthy control, untreated negative control, and four groups receiving the A. saralicum at 25, 50, 100, and 200 mg/kg concentrations. At the end of day 15 of treatment, the animals of all groups were weight and then sacrifced. The blood, liver and spleen samples were drawn immediately to analyze the hematological, biochemical and histological parameters. All groups of A. saralicum (especially AS200) signifcantly (p≤0.05) reduced the raised concentrations of Fe, ferritin, erythropoietin, ALP, AST, ALT, GGT, cholesterol, LDL, triglyceride, total and conjugated bilirubin, urea, and creatinine and increased the levels of body weight, HDL, total protein, albumin, WBC, lymphocyte, monocytes, platelet, RBC, Hb, PCV, MCV, MCH, and MCHC as compared to the untreated group. Also, A. saralicum at all doses prevented pathological changes in the liver and spleen. In conclusion, because of aqueous extract of A. saralicum leaf anti-anemic property, it can be used as a medical supplement or drug.
