The fruits of Piper cubeba L. are used traditionally to treat respiratory disorders in Indonesia. In order to determine the compounds responsible for this activity, the fruits were extracted with n-hexane followed by ethanol to give n-hexane and ethanol extracts. Based on tracheospasmolytic assay on these two extracts, the n-hexane extract was more active to inhibit trachea contraction than that of ethanol extract. Upon bioassay guided isolation of the n-hexane extract, a tracheospasmolytic active compound was isolated and identified as dihydrocubebin [(3,4),(3’,4’)-bis-methylenedioxy-9,9’dihydroxylignan] (1). Compound 1 was tested further for its ability to inhibit histamine released from mast cells, using rat basophilic leukemia (RBL-2H3) cell line and rat peritoneal mast cells RPMCs) as models; and DNP24-BSA, thapsigargin, ionomycin, compound 48/80 and PMA were used as inducers for histamine released from mast cell. The test result showed that 1 inhibited histamine release from RBL-2H3 cells induced by DNP24-BSA, thapsigargin and ionomycin. In addition, 1 suppressed histamine release from RPMC induced by either thapsigargin or ionomycin. However, 1 did not inhibit histamine release from RPMC induced by either compound 48/80 or combination PMA-sub optimum dose of ionomycin. Therefore, it was concluded that the inhibitory effects of 1 on the histamine released from mast cells may involve mechanisms related to intracellular Ca 2+signaling events or downstream processes of intracellular Ca 2+signaling in mast cells.
An Unscented Rauch-Tung-Striebel Smoother for a Bearing Only Tracking Problem

The unscented Kalman filter (UKF) has become a new technique used in a number of nonlinear estimation problems to overcome the limitation of Taylor series linearization. It uses a deterministic sampling approach known as sigma points to propagate nonlinear systems and has been discussed in many literature. However, a nonlinear smoothing problem has received less attention than the filtering problem. Therefore, in this article we examine an unscented smoother based on Rauch-Tung-Striebel form for discrete-time dynamic systems. This smoother has advantages available in unscented transformation over approximation by Taylor expansion as well as its benefit in derivative free. To evaluate the performance of this smoother, we compare this algorithm with an extended Rauch-Tung-Striebel algorithm through the simulations of a bearing-only tracking problem.

<P>Our previous studies showed that a mechano-active scaffold made of poly(L-lactide-co-ϵ-caprolactone) (PLCL) exhibited a high potential to realize the formation of a functional, engineered cartilage in vitro. This animal study therefore was designed to investigate the feasibility of repairing on osteochondral defect with the use of bone marrow-derived mesenchymal stem cells (BMSCs) incorporated with a PLCL scaffold. Rabbit BMSCs, isolated and subsequently cultured in monolayer, were seeded into a porous PLCL scaffold sponge following an implantation onto a full-thickness osteochondral defect (diameter of 4.5 mm, depth of 5 mm) that was artificially created on the medial femoral condyles at a high load-bearing site on a rabbit's knee joint. Time-dependent healing of the defect was evaluated by macroscopic, histological examinations at both 3- and 6-month-implantations, respectively. A PLCL sponge incorporated with BMSCs exhibited sufficient structural support, resulting in new osteochondral tissue regeneration: a physiologically well-integrated subchondral bone formation, a hyaline cartilage-like morphology containing chondrocytes surrounded by abundant cartilaginous matrices. In addition, quantitative biochemical assays also demonstrated high potential for the synthesis of sulfated glycosaminoglycan and collagen, both of which are biomolecules essential to extracelluar matrix in normal cartilage tissue. In contrast, defects filled with cell-free PLCL scaffold or left empty showed a very limited potential for regeneration. Our findings suggest that a composite of PLCL-based sponge scaffold and BMSCs promote the repair of osteochondral defects at high load-bearing sites in adult rabbits. © 2010 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Human Behavior Recognition System Based on 3-dimensional Clustering Methods
Maimaitimin Maierdan,Keigo Watanabe,Shoichi Maeyama 제어로봇시스템학회 2013 제어로봇시스템학회 국제학술대회 논문집 Vol.2013 No.10
In this paper, a Hidden Markov Model (HMM) approach is introduced for recognizing human behaviors. Two main points are discussed in this approach: first is the application of HMM to the recognition system of human behaviors, and second is the effectiveness comparison of K-means and fuzzy C-means clustering algorithms. Three sample human behaviors are defined and the corresponded 3D data are collected using the Microsoft Kinect sensor (3D sensor). During these processing, we discuss the difference of k-means and fuzzy c-means clustering algorithms, and also we can see the results impacted by different clustering algorithms, the effectiveness of both clustering methods is shown through demonstrating the performance of our recognition system with HMM.

Kazuki Fujimoto,Narumi Maki,Daisuke Hashiba,Toshifumi Maeyama,Ryosuke Nakagawa,Hajime Arai,Seiji Ohtori 대한골다공증학회 2023 Osteoporosis and Sarcopenia Vol.9 No.4
Objectives: This study aims to investigate the effects of romosozumab on bone mineral density (BMD) and bone metabolism. Methods: In this retrospective case series, romosozumab was administered to 5 premenopausal female patients with osteoporosis and anorexia nervosa with fragility fractures. BMD and bone turnover marker changes were investigated at 6 months and 1 year after administering romosozumab. Results: BMD increased and high-turnover bone metabolism decreased 6 months and 1 year after administering romosozumab. Conclusions: Romosozumab is useful for treating osteoporosis in patients with anorexia nervosa.
Estimation of Human Behaviors Based on Human Actions Using an ANN
Maimaitimin Maierdan,Keigo Watanabe,Shoichi Maeyama 제어로봇시스템학회 2014 제어로봇시스템학회 국제학술대회 논문집 Vol.2014 No.10
An approach to human behavior recognition is presented in this paper. The system is separated into two parts: human action recognition and object recognition. The estimation result is composed of a simple action “Pointing” and a virtual assumed object, which has two attributes, one is “current status” and the other is “acceptable behavior”. Once the human action and object are recognized, then detect whether a vector calculated by human elbow intersected the object. If the vector is intersected, then estimate human behavior by combining the human action and the object attribute. The artificial neural network (ANN) is discussed as a main part of the current research. Whole ANN processing is simulated by Octave 3.8, the human actions are captured by Microsoft Kinect, and a human model is built by using human joint data.

In this research, it is aimed at guiding an X4-Flyer, which is a VTOL type UAV, to an arbitrary target point. In the previous research, we proposed a controller for an X4-Flyer to move on the X-Y plane by using a 2-dimensional harmonic potential field (HPF), assuming that the X4-Flyer keeps its altitude constantly. In this paper, the controller guides the X4-Flyer to an arbitrary target point in a 3-dimensional space by switching some 2-dimensional HPFs appropriately. It is confirmed on the simulation that the X4-Flyer can reach the arbitrary target point in the 3-dimensional space by using the proposed method.
