Analysis and design of an axial piston water-pump with piston valve

Luo Xiaohui,Niu Zihua,Shi Zhaocun,Hu Junhua 대한기계학회 2011 JOURNAL OF MECHANICAL SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY Vol.25 No.2

In this paper, we present a novel axial piston water-pump with piston valve, which carries out the flow distribution to drain and sucks water by the interaction of each piston. This novel water-pump could achieve change in-phase between flow rate and the passage areas of the intake and outlet ports. In order to completely achieve the in-phase change, the pressure that is assigned a fixed value in the piston chamber is optimized. On these grounds, the optimum shapes of the intake and outlet ports have been found to be rectangular according to theoretical analysis. The simulation results indicated that the optimum intake and outlet port shapes keeps the pressure in the piston chamber constant, and there is almost no pressure surge except for a very small pressure wave in the piston chamber. Finally, the test of model machine showed that the pressures of the intake and outlet port are very steady, but the leakage is large and the volumetric efficiency is 74.7%.

A Novel Data Fusion Scheme using Grey Model and Extreme Learning Machine in Wireless Sensor Networks

Xiong Luo,Xiaohui Chang 제어·로봇·시스템학회 2015 International Journal of Control, Automation, and Vol.13 No.3

With the increasing presence and adoption of wireless sensor networks (WSNs), the demand of data acquisition and data fusion are becoming stronger and stronger. In WSN, sensor nodes periodically sense data and send them to the sink node. Since the network consists of plenty of low-cost sensor nodes with limited battery power and the sensed data usually are of high temporal redundancy, prediction-based data fusion has been put forward as an important issue to reduce the number of transmissions and save the energy of the sensor nodes. Considering the fact that the sensor node usually has limited capabilities of data processing and storage, a novel prediction-based data fusion scheme using grey model (GM) and optimally pruned extreme learning machine (OP-ELM) is proposed. The proposed data fusion scheme called GM-OP-ELM uses a dual prediction mechanism to keep the prediction data series at the sink node and sensor node synchronous. During the data fusion process, GM is introduced to initially predict the data of next period with a small number of data items, and an OP-ELM-based single-hidden layer feedforward network (SLFN) is used to make the initial predicted value approximate its true value with extremely fast speed. As a robust and fast neural network learn-ing algorithm, OP-ELM can adaptively adjust the structure of the SLFN. Then, GM-OP-ELM can provide high prediction accuracy, low communication overhead, and good scalability. We evaluate the performance of GM-OP-ELM on three actual data sets that collected from 54 sensors deployed in the Intel Berkeley Research lab. Simulation results have shown that the proposed data fusion scheme can significantly reduce redundant transmissions and extend the lifetime of the whole network with low computational cost.

Downregulation of HuR Inhibits the Progression of Esophageal Cancer through Interleukin-18

        Xu Xiaohui,Song Cheng,Chen Zhihua,Yu Chenxiao,Wang Yi,Tang Yiting,Luo Judong 대한암학회 2018 Cancer Research and Treatment Vol.50 No.1

Purpose The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of human antigen R (HuR) downregulation and the potential target genes of HuR on the progression of esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC). Materials and Methods In this study, a proteomics assay was used to detect the expression of proteins after HuR downregulation, and a luciferase assay was used to detect the potential presence of a HuR binding site on the 3’-untranslated region (3'-UTR) of interleukin 18 (IL-18). In addition, colony formation assay, MTT, EdU incorporation assay, Western blot, flow cytometry, immunohistochemistry, transwell invasion assay, and wound healing assay were used. Results In the present study, we found that the expression of both HuR protein and mRNA levels were higher in tumor tissues than in the adjacent tissues. HuR downregulation significantly suppressed cell proliferation. In addition, the metastasis of esophageal cancer cells was inhibited, while the expression of E-cadherin was increased and the expression of matrix metalloproteinase (MMP) 2, MMP9, and vimentin was decreased after HuR knockdown. Moreover, silencing of HuR disturbed the cell cycle of ESCC cells mainly by inducing G1 arrest. Furthermore, proteomics analysis showed that downregulation of HuR in TE-1 cells resulted in 100 upregulated and 122 downregulated proteins, including IL-18 as a significantly upregulated protein. The expression of IL-18 was inversely regulated by HuR. IL-18 expression was decreased in ESCC tissues, and exogenous IL-18 significantly inhibited the proliferation and metastasis of ESCC cells. The 3'-UTR of IL-18 harbored a HuR binding site, as shown by an in vitro luciferase assay. Conclusion HuR plays an important role in the progression of esophageal carcinoma by targeting IL-18, which may be a potential therapeutic target for the treatment of ESCC.

Study on Fiber Cutting Performance of Isometric Straight Bar Plate with Different Bar Angle

        Huan Liu,Jixian Dong,Xiya Guo,Chong Luo,Xiaohui Tian,Xiaojun Jiang,Sha Wang,Ruifan Yang,Chuanwu Duan,Bo Wang,Kai Qi 한국펄프·종이공학회 2019 펄프.종이기술 Vol.51 No.5

The refining plate is a direct-acting component of refiners in pulping, and the bar profile of it have a major impact on fiber cutting, which affects the paper forming and strength of the formed paper. In this paper, the fiber average length, the fiber length distribution, the original fiber cutting rate and adjacent fiber cutting rate of samples collected in different refining time are used to analyze the fiber cutting mechanism of the isometric straight bar refining plates with different bar angles. The results show that the fiber cutting performance of plates gradually decreases and the limit fiber cutting length of the plate increases with the increase of the bar angle which is opposite to the conclusion predicted by specific edge load (SEL). However, the fiber cutting action of plates is gradually weakened until the average fiber length is reduced to the limit cutting length of plates. Meanwhile, the cutting mechanism of the straight bar plates with different bar angles is different. The larger bar angle of plate, the lower fiber cutting rate and the adjacent cutting rate of which is basically kept constant during refining, while the adjacent cutting rate of smaller bar angle plate on fibers gradually decreases with refining and finally remains constant. The study on the cutting performance of different bar angle plates has positive significance for the selection and design of refining plates for different pulping process.

Refining Characteristics of Hardwood Pulp Using Straight- and Curved-bar Plates: A Time Series Study

        Huan Liu,Jixian Dong,Xiaojun Jiang,Chong Luo,Xiaohui Tian,Ruifang Yang,Litao Zhang,Bo Wang,Yan Yan 한국펄프·종이공학회 2019 펄프.종이기술 Vol.51 No.5

There are obvious differences in the refining characteristics of plates with straight bars compared to curved bar plates having the same bar parameters during refining. The objective of this research is to explore the difference in the refining characteristics of the straight bar and curved bar plates on experimental and theoretical studies. The bar angle of the curved bar plate is defined, and the two plates are used in the refining of bleached sulphate eucalyptus pulp (BSEP). Samples at different refining times were collected, and the properties of the fibers, pulp, and paper were detected and analyzed. It was found that the curved bar and straight bar plates have a similar influence on the pulp SR freeness. However, the curved bar plate effectively retained the fiber length, which means that its fiber cutting effect is weaker than that of the straight bar plate. Meanwhile, the fiber external fibrillation of the samples refined by the curved bar plate was better than that of the samples refined by the straight bar, which showed a higher tensile and tear index of the formed paper. Through the theoretical analysis of refining intensity via characterization of the parameter bar edge length (BEL), the specific edge load (SEL) of the curved bar plate was lower, and the refining characteristics predicted by the refining intensity were similar to the results from the experiments conducted in this paper.

Developing TCM clinical practice guidelines: A comparison between traditional Chinese medicine and western medicine

        Xuan Yu,Shouyuan Wu,Juanjuan Zhang,Yue Hu,Meng Luo,Hongmei Zhao,Xuping Song,Yaolong Chen,Xiaohui Wang 한국한의학연구원 2023 Integrative Medicine Research Vol.12 No.2

Clinical practice guidelines in Traditional Chinese Medicine (CPG-TCM) is the recommendation that aims to provide the best service to users by identifying and summarizing the rules of prevention, diagnosis, treatment, rehabilitation, and regression of diseases based on systematic reviews of evidence and balancing the advantages and disadvantages of different interventions for clinical questions of Traditional Chinese Medicine. Over the past 30 years, the concept and methods of evidence-based medicine have had a significant impact on the development of clinical practice guidelines in Western Medicine (CPG-WM), and their standardized guideline development methods are being adapted and used in the development of CPG-TCM. However, the quality of CPG-TCM is far from CPG-WM, and the methodological system for developing CPG-TCM is not yet fully established. Therefore, this study aims to explore the methodological differences between CPG-TCM and CPG-WM and to inform the development of high-quality CPGTCM.

Inactivation of epithelial sodium ion channel molecules serves as effective diagnostic biomarkers in clear cell renal cell carcinoma

        Zheng Qian,Wang Yifang,Zhao Ran,Han Peipei,Zhao Jun,Li Limei,Zhou Xiaohui,Li Ping,Mo Yingxi,Pan Xinli,Luo Wenqi,Zhou Xiaoying 한국유전학회 2023 Genes & Genomics Vol.45 No.7

Background Non-voltage-gated sodium channel, also known as the epithelial sodium channel (ENaC), formed by heteromeric complexes consisting of SCNN1A, SCNN1B, and SCNN1G, is responsible for maintaining sodium ion and body fluid homeostasis in epithelial cells. However, no systematic study of SCNN1 family members has been conducted in renal clear cell carcinoma (ccRCC) to date. Objective To investigate the abnormal expression of SCNN1 family in ccRCC and its potential correlation with clinical parameters. Methods The transcription and protein expression levels of SCNN1 family members in ccRCC were analyzed based on the TCGA database, and were confirmed by quantitative RT-PCR and immunohistochemical staining assays, respectively. The area under curve (AUC) was used to evaluate the diagnostic value of SCNN1 family members for ccRCC patients. Results The mRNA and protein expression of SCNN1 family members was significantly downregulated in ccRCC compared with normal kidney tissues, which might be due to DNA hypermethylation in the promoter region. It is worth noting that the AUC of SCNN1A, SCNN1B, and SCNN1G were 0.965, 0.979, and 0.988 based on the TCGA database (p < 0.0001), respectively. The diagnostic value was even higher when combing these three members together (AUC = 0.997, p < 0.0001). Intriguingly, the mRNA level of SCNN1A was significantly lower in females compared with males, while SCNN1B and SCNN1G were increased with the progression of ccRCC and remarkably associated with a worse outcome for patients. Conclusion The aberrantly decrease of SCNN1 family members might serve as valuable biomarkers for the diagnosis of ccRCC.
