Comparison of Pyrolysis Patterns of Different Tobacco Leaves by Double-Shot Pyrolysis-GC/MSD Method

In this paper, we describe our study on the characterization of tobacco leaves by their pyrolysis patterns. Two kinds of tobacco leaves were pyrolyzed and analyzed by Double-Shot Pyrolysis-Gas Chromatography/Mass Spectroscopy (Py-GC/MS) methods. Three grades of Korean flue-cured tobacco leafsuch as B1O, AB3O, CD3L and burley tobacco leaves such as B1T, AB3T, CD3W were pyrolyzed with six discrete but stepwise heating temperature ranges, those are from 100$^{\circ}C$ to 150$^{\circ}C$, 150$^{\circ}C$ to 200$^{\circ}C$, 200$^{\circ}C$ to 250$^{\circ}C$, 250$^{\circ}C$ to 300$^{\circ}C$, 300$^{\circ}C$ to 350$^{\circ}C$ and finally from 350$^{\circ}C$ to 400$^{\circ}C$. Using the resultant 52 pyrolytic components identified in the programs as components, principal component analysis (PCA) showed statistical classification between flue-cured and burley tobacco lamina. Among six pyrolysis temperature ranges, the best discrimination was achieved at the temperature range from 250$^{\circ}C$ to 300$^{\circ}C$ and from 300$^{\circ}C$ to 350$^{\circ}C$.
Inhibitory effect of Angelica gigas on cold-induced RhoA activation in vascular cells

<P>The herbal extract Angelica gigas (AG) has been applied as a vasodilating agent for patients suffering from vascular diseases for many years; however, the underlying mechanism has not been fully elucidated. The present study hypothesized that the anti-vasoconstrictive effect of AG may be effective in the treatment of abnormal cold-mediated vasospasms that occur in Raynaud's phenomenon (RP). The effect of AG on the activity of ras homolog gene family member A (RhoA) was investigated in cold-exposed vascular cells. Vascular cells were pretreated to AG, followed by a warm (37 degrees C) or cold (25 degrees C) incubation for 30 min and investigated with western blotting, ELISA and confocal microscopy. Cold treatment induced the activation of RhoA in pericytes and vascular endothelial cells, however this was reduced by treatment with AG. Furthermore, AG treatment reduced the endothelin-1 (ET-1)-mediated RhoA activation in pericytes; however, cold-induced ET-1 production by vascular endothelial cells was not affected by treatment with AG. In addition, AG treatment suppressed the formation of stress fibers and focal adhesion complexes, and the cold-induced phosphorylation of focal adhesion kinase, proto-oncogene tyrosine-protein kinase Src and extracellular signal-related kinase. Therefore, AG treatment demonstrated an ability to reduce cold-induced RhoA activation in pericytes and vascular endothelial cells, and attenuated ET-1-mediated RhoA activation in pericytes. In conclusion, the present study indicated that AG may be useful for the treatment of RP.</P>
A Study on Comparison of Returns Depending on REITs Types and Size

본 연구는 대표적인 부동산 간접투자 상품 중 하나로 그 시장이 지속적으로 확대되고 있는 리츠의 형태 및 규모별 수익률에 대해 분석하였다. 분석방법은 리츠의 형태 및 규모별 수익를 차이를 분석하기 위하여 Descriptive Analysis과 ANOVA(Analysis of Variance)를 이용하였다. 분석결과 위탁관리리츠와 자기관리리츠는 수익률 측면에서 동질적 집단으로 나타났다. 그러나 기업구조조정리츠와는 이질적 집단인 것으로 나타났다. 따라서 앞의 기술통계량을 고려하면 기업구조조정리츠의 수익률은 다른 두 형태의 리츠보다 더 높은 수익률을 보인다고 할 수 있다. 또한, 리츠의 자산규모 측면에서의 수익률 차이 분석결과 각 규모별 수익률 차이가 크게 나타나고 있지만, 전체적으로 100억 이상 3000억 미만 규모의 리츠상품이 100억 미만과 3000억 이상 규모의 리츠상품보다 더 높은 수익률을 나타내고 있다. 즉 국내 리츠상품은 리츠의 형태뿐 아니라 자산규모에 따라서도 수익률의 차이가 있는 것으로 나타났다. 따라서, 수익적 측면에서 국내 리츠상품에 대한 투자시 리츠형태로는 기업구조조정리츠가 다른 형태의 리츠보다 더 이익이 더 높으며, 자산규모 측면에서는 100억에서 3000억 미만에 대한 투자가 보다 더 합리적이라고 할 수 있다. 결과적으로 향후 리츠상품에 대한 투자는 리츠의 형태와 자산규모를 고려한 의사결정이 필요할 것으로 판단된다.

조기낙엽이 참다래 ``헤이워드`` 과실 바람들이와 품질에 미치는 영향

BACKGROUND: The fruit quality and flowering characteristics of Kiwifruit (A. deliciosa cv. Hayward) in the following year is known to be affected by the extent and timing of defoliation of the current year. In korea, the production of kiwi, which is a perennial, straggling deciduous warm-temperate fruit, is often restricted by wind damage due to typhoons resulting to defoliation at the middle season of its growing period. In this paper, we report the effect of the different timing of defoliation and severities at the current season to the kiwifruit quality. METHODS AND RESULTS: Twenty seven-year-old ``Hayward`` trees grown under polyethylene film rain-shelter were defoliated in different days from August to September at seven day-intervals. In each day, 0, 25, 50, 75 and 100% of leaves were removed from the trees. Fruits from each treatment were classified into four floating types (L: lying in bottom, S: standing on bottom, F: floating and SF: floating at the surface of water) by submerging them into tap water. Defoliation of kiwifruit trees in August and September caused air holes in locules of inner pericarp. Increased number of air hole in locules of a fruit was observed in floating types F and SF, and most of the air holes were located in stem end. The defoliation of trees in August significantly reduced the ratio of L-floating type fruits, which have the least number of locule air holes. The extent of defoliation also affected the distribution of the four types, the more leaves removed, the less L-floating type fruits harvested. The weight of fruits from trees defoliated in August was lower than that of fruits from September. Soluble solids content decreased as the number of locule air holes increased. Negative correlations were observed between the extent of defoliation and the weight and soluble solids content of fruits. CONCLUSION: Early defoliation effect on kiwifruit locule air hole occurrence and fruit quality were more severe in August than in September. And also if the defoliation severity is over 25%, severe fruit quality reduction expected to happen due to increase of fruit locule air hole in the inner pericarp.
