An Improved Stereo Matching Algorithm with Robustness to Noise Based on Adaptive Support Weight
Lee, Ingyu,Moon, Byungin Korea Information Processing Society 2017 Journal of information processing systems Vol.13 No.2
An active research area in computer vision, stereo matching is aimed at obtaining three-dimensional (3D) information from a stereo image pair captured by a stereo camera. To extract accurate 3D information, a number of studies have examined stereo matching algorithms that employ adaptive support weight. Among them, the adaptive census transform (ACT) algorithm has yielded a relatively strong matching capability. The drawbacks of the ACT, however, are that it produces low matching accuracy at the border of an object and is vulnerable to noise. To mitigate these drawbacks, this paper proposes and analyzes the features of an improved stereo matching algorithm that not only enhances matching accuracy but also is also robust to noise. The proposed algorithm, based on the ACT, adopts the truncated absolute difference and the multiple sparse windows method. The experimental results show that compared to the ACT, the proposed algorithm reduces the average error rate of depth maps on Middlebury dataset images by as much as 2% and that is has a strong robustness to noise.

A throttleable rocket engine enables operational possibilities such as the docking of spacecraft, maneuvering in a certain orbit and landing on a planet's surface, altitude control, and entrance to atmosphere-less planets. Thus, throttling methods have long been researched. However, dual-manifold injectors, which represent one throttling method, have been investigated less than others. In this study, dual-manifold and single-manifold injectors were compared to determine the characteristics of dual-manifold injectors. Also, the effects of gas injection were investigated with various F/O ratios. To investigate the characteristics, mass flow rate, spray pattern, spray angle, and droplet size were measured. The spray angle and droplet size were captured by indirect photography. About 30 images were taken to assess the spray patterns and spray angle. Also, 700 images were analyzed to understand the droplet distribution and targeting area, moving to the right from the centerline with 1.11-cm intervals. The droplet size was obtained from an image processing procedure. From the results, the spray angle showed two transition regions, due to swirl momentum in the swirl chamber regardless of the F/O ratio. The droplet size showed similar trends in both dual-manifold and single-manifold injectors except in the low mass flow rate region. In the case of the dual- manifold injector, the spray cone was not fully developed in the low mass flow rate region due to low angular momentum in the swirl chamber.

Drug-induced Hyperprolactinemia Results in Atypical Atypical Fracture

We report a case of bilateral femur fracture which may have resulted in part from long-term administration of antipsychotic agents. A 43-year-old female patient with pain in both thighs visited our clinic. We conducted X-ray and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) examinations which revealed bilateral femur fractures. The right proximal femur had a complete fracture, and the left proximal femur had an incomplete fracture, both of which were in the subtrochanteric area. The patient was treated by intramedullary nailing in the right femur. Laboratory analysis showed hyperprolactinemia and hypogonadism. Bone mineral density analysis showed osteoporosis. Antipsychotic drug-induced hyperprolactinemia is a well-known phenomenon. Despite concerns about hyperprolactinemia induced osteoporotic fracture in patients treated with only prolactin-elevating medications, the issue has not been extensively studied. If hyperprolactinemia patients suffer from uncontrolled pain, we recommend MRI examination as surgeons should be aware of the possibility of osteoporotic fracture induced by hyperprolactinemia.

We report a case of pathologic bilateral impingement of the posterior cruciate ligament (PCL) synovial folds referred to PCL plicae. A 40-year-old female was admitted to the hospital with vague bilateral knee pain along the medial side of both knees just below each patella. She reported that standing for long periods of time increased the pain and that it has been more than 10 years since the vague pain occurred. On magnetic resonance imaging, medial synovial folds of the PCL were identified and therefore knee arthroscopy was performed under general anesthesia. The arthroscopic findings revelated entrapped folds within the medial tibiofemoral joints when the knees were in passive extension. The entrapped tissue of the synovial folds was resected by punch forceps and debrided by a shaver. After eight months of surgery, the patient’s symptoms completely resolved, and she regained full range of motion. The long medial synovial folds around the PCL can be a cause of knee pain due to entrapment between the femoral and tibial condyles. Plicae pathologies can therefore be considered one of the differential diagnosis of vague knee pain.

Pseudomonas putida KL47 is a natural isolate that assimilates benzene, 1-alkylbenzene (C1-C4), biphenyl, p-cumate, and p-cymene. The genetic background of strain KL47 underlying the broad range of growth substrates was examined. It was found that the cym and cmt operons are constitutively expressed due to a lack of the cymR gene, and the tod operon is still inducible by toluene and biphenyl. The entire array of gene clusters responsible for the catabolism of toluene and p-cymene/p-cumate has been cloned in a cosmid vector, pLAFR3, and were named pEK6 and pEK27, respectively. The two inserts overlap one another and the nucleotide sequence (42,505 bp) comprising the cym, cmt, and tod operons and its flanking genes in KL47 are almost identical (>99%) to those of P. putida F1. In the cloned DNA fragment, two genes with unknown functions, labeled cymZ and cmtR, were newly identified and show high sequence homology to dienelactone hydrolase and CymR proteins, respectively. The cmtR gene was identified in the place of the cmtI gene of previous annotation. Western blot analysis showed that, in strains F1 and KL47, the todT gene is not expressed during growth on Luria Bertani medium. In minimal basal salt medium, expression of the todT gene is inducible by toluene, but not by biphenyl in strain F1; however, it is constantly expressed in strain KL47, indicating that high levels of expression of the todST genes with one amino acid substitution in TodS might provide strain KL47 with a means of adaptation of the tod catabolic operon to various aromatic hydrocarbons.

In this paper, the contents and the results of the tests performed to analyze the influence of environmental factors on ADAS are shown. RTK GPS is installed on the subject vehicle and target vehicles to calculate the position, speed, and TTC between the two vehicles. Environmental factors include general road conditions, rain, high temperature, gravel night and fog conditions. In the test, CCRs and CCRm test conditions for the Car-to-Car FCW are defined and performed so that the ADAS function can focus on the environmental influence. The influence analysis target is the TTC and distance calculated from the RTK GPS when the FCW function is activated.
